I’m interested in the Walmart category, I presume all spend will count not just grocery spend so it could be lucrative for those who shop at Walmart primarily.

I stopped using Discover for groceries because the last time they had 5% cashback at grocery stores they didn’t give me the 5%. I called and then they tried to argue saying are you sure it’s a grocery store. It was Raley’s, definitely a grocery store.

5% at Walmart is solid for Discover!

They’ve had bad categories 4 quarters in a row. WHERE is PayPal and Apple Pay??

I guess I need to just get the Citi Custom Cash so I can use it as a 5% restaurant card. That’s the only bonus category I ever max on on my Discover. Apart from that it’s mostly a sock drawer card. I already get 6% on grocery with my BCP Amex.

OH! What if Capital One is passing the Walmart portfolio off to the "Discover" brand?

I have the Amex Gold card and I have a question for discussion. Cash back or Travel? The MR points are worth about 2 cents so if travel is in the near future it makes sense to use the Amex over any 5% cash back right??

MR points are very flexible so that $$ can vary but with time and flexibility I am looking for at least a 2 cent return minimum.

Then, yeah, if you are getting 3x or 4x MR points on a purchase, makes sense over a 5% cash back.
