Thanks guys, searched your channel as soon as i bought the game for this but you hadn't done a daifukkatsu ep yet. Been a fun few days playing blindly, but hopefully watching this will help with all the different modes and their scoring.

Did you learned the differences and all? How’s life after these 5years? Do you still play STGs?

How does SWY milk the last phase of the stage 5 boss for 10 minutes? It always times out for me after five. Does this work because he is doing it during the second loop or is it because he speedkills the first two phases?

This is one of the games in terms of scoring system that just piss me off to no end, especially 1.5 makes me want to kill myself. It simply mystifies me how people can carry a chain through an entire stage. Let alone practice a route that allows them to do so. And fuck those laserwheels.

I want to give CAVE more money!. Why don't they make anime about the element daughters etc and more shmup model kits!. And reprint your superplay dvd's for uk market!.

They actually did make model kits! They're quite nice, actually; full color resin casts, so for inexperienced builders they look decent even unpainted. But they were a very limited production run from RC Berg, and as a result are usually extraordinarily expensive. But, they did recently partner with Kotobukiya - who are very well known for their licensed model kits and their Bishoujo figure lines. So far, Koto has only released one Cave model - the Type A (red) ship from Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou. As is typical for Koto kits, it's extremely well detailed, and comes precast in color. It's also quite affordable! I agree that localized superplays would be awesome, but there are a lot of obstacles to doing that... most notably that Cave actually doesn't produce some of the more well known superplays (many of the most famous ones were produced by INH), the large amount of Japanese spoken and written content would make it a high localization cost project, and frankly the availability of high-quality replays has never been higher, so there might not be a market for it. It'd still be really cool though!

Softdrink 117 thanks for the reply!. I actually have the type-a ship but I can't quite bring myself to Build it!. The resin ones very expensive. You say. I also have the Theresa rose figure from Ibara. I just wish they would do a whole toy line. The games have so many great ships that could be modelled.

Yeah, I agree. I have the RC Berg Type-A and the Koto Type-A, and I haven't built either yet (the RC Berg because I want to be a bit of a better modeler before I tackle it, and the Koto because I just got it a couple months ago and haven't found the time yet to build it). Frankly I wish there were more STG model kits in general. The ones that have been produced are really cool, and there's no shortage of garage kits being produced - but they're always Comiket exclusives or otherwise super rare/limited/expensive. Wish a major manufacturer would pick some up. There have been quite a few R-type scratchbuilds and GKs that look amazing, for example. I don't have any of the Ibara figures, though I've thought about getting them for a long time... I actually almost bought a full set at one point, but my personal finances changed right before I finalized payment with the guy who was selling them, so I had to back out. I've heard that the quality isn' t that great, but I love the game so much, heh. Would be nice to have some proper merchandise of it.

Softdrink 117 while I have the opportunity to talk to you directly. Was it you that mentioned that they were working on making an shmup?. I have always thought a 2 player shmup where you are fighting each other would be an excellent idea. It would bring the competition of fighting games to shmups.

Yeah, I've been working on something off and on for a while... it won't be 2-player, and it won't be done for years at this rate, heh. I've gotten to be so busy with work that I've not found the time to work on it for quite a while. But actually I agree with you; 2P shmups are super interesting. There have been a few made that have been very successful. Obvious examples like Twinkle Star Sprites and Phantasmagoria Of Flower View aside, there are more interesting takes on the concept like Change Air Blade. Then you have the games that are more like fighting games with shmup elements - Suguri, Senko no Ronde, and the new Touhou Genso Rondo are good examples. I think it's a really interesting space for exploration, and I actually made a 2P shmup in a game dev class in college. You can see a video about the project on my channel, actually. It's something I'd love to go back to and explore sometime, but for now I'm pretty okay with working on a more simplistic project. Balancing a multiplayer game isn't something I want to work on right away; it'd be nice to get a game or two under my belt first.
