Great video!i always wanted to learn Donpachi!

While it's not exactly the same as the shot/focus that's become so ubiquitous since Don Pachi codified it, there is a caravan game for the Sharp X68000, called Zero Rei, that has a slow and narrow shot type and a fast and wide shot type. IIRC you switch between them by hitting a button, so it works a little different. Actually, switching weapons is how you use the homing shot, as well (it's a pretty cool weapon system, actually. Great music, as well). I believe Zero Rei came out in 1994 (well, that's the date that's displayed in the rom version I have, anyway).
