Joe Rogan and Steve Harvey explained it best. Will Smith is so far removed from reality that he thinks his life is a movie and he's the main character. That fact that he did that and then just turned around and sat back down, with no expectation or concern for the immediate legal repercussions that anyone else would have been subject to if they unfairly assaulted another adult in a professional environment, said it all.

Gail's comments infuriated me. It's like from any and all directions, Will Smith was wrong. There was literally no right in him. So how in the world, when a man is doing a job, can be diminished to a 'both sides' type of argument. Considering the political nonsense and the ongoing gun wars and the problematic shutting down of history, Gail's comment became the straw and for a moment, I truly believed, that we were all nuts.

Chris perhaps due to his career knows how to handle a situation like that. He really was the bigger man there, even though he didn't get the support of the audience at the moment, and to be honest just showed what kind of people they are too. On the other hand, Will has been internalizing something for a while that at that moment just came out in the worst possible way, hurting him more maybe forever. I feel exactly the same as Jim Carey. All the people I talked too who were saying it was justified seem to lack an understanding of what the Oscars represent. Its the highest level you can get as an actor, just like the Nobel is for science, Pulitzer is for journalism, Olympics for athletes. That's to name a few. People work their entire lives hoping to get nominated. That fact that some ignore the time and place and talk as though they were at a bar, is dumbfounding.

How can you compare that to the Olympics etc. Plus I am sure there are actors in comedy TV shows that are at the Oscars, the Oscars are about movies, Comedy, etc. Not sports or scientists, unless it's about a science documentary on Netflix, then that will be something you can win an Oscar to.

Chris was the better man in that moment while Will basically ran away like a coward because he knew he abused his status as on of the best to get away with what he did.
