Stedman Caters at Tavistock, Devon

Ойын-сауық

Excerpts from a peal of Stedman Caters, conducted by John Pladdys, on this fine but somewhat challenging Devonshire ten. The video clip was taken around ten minutes into the peal, and the audio recording of the final course (and tenor being lowered) is used with kind permission of William Carew.
The back eight were cast by Taylor's in 1925, and augmented by the same firm in 1998. There is undoubtedly an incredibly fine ring of bells, but unfortunately the sound doesn't quite translate into the ringing chamber, where they are quiet and mushy. Tower sway and oddstruckness (particularly around 7&8) make for a bit of a challenge. They are worth the effort for the reward though; once "tuned in" to them, they are lovely!
Tenor 24-0-5 in D

Surprising excellent transposition from glorious eight to ten. so good to see a great exponent of "Call Change" joining with the "scientific" and performing so well.

Not easy, but very rewarding. A good effort on an undoubtedly fine ring of bells!

Bit heavier and a bit deeper than Carisbrooke. The bells here are better - but acoustically Carisbrooke definitely have the edge, as the tower there is larger

These are quite similar to Swindon Christ Church and Dalton in Furness.
