Stealth Camping Disguised As Construction Worker

I went stealth camping behind some new construction and of course, the best disguise I could think of was a construction worker. I loaded up my sleeping bag and gear in a wheelbarrow and headed out to camp for the night. Pretty successful night, just camped under the stars. Thankfully no rain this time!

I like the way you employ your camo. This past August a homeless guy and his gf (mid 20's) set up a small camp in a park where I walk the dogs. Their tent was bright blue with yellow stripes and stood out like a laser beam. One evening when walking the dogs he stepped out from the bushes right in front of me and had this startled expression as if he was expecting me to give him a hassle. I told him there was nothing to worry about and that I have been homeless myself so I get where he is coming from. I then pointed out that his camp stood out like a sore thumb and he really needed to camouflage it a bit. I suggested he cover the tent loosely with a brown tarp and lay some brush over top of it. The next day I was walking the dogs and as I walked past I noticed the camp was gone and figured they had moved on. On my last lap I saw the guy and asked him where he had moved to. he told me they hadn't moved and he had just done what I suggested and even he had a hard time finding the tent sometimes. I walked back by and unless you were specifically looking for it you could not tell it was there at all. They managed to stay there for over a month before they moved on.

Funny story. We had a guy do this at work with buckets. Always left work with his boots hard hat and gloves in a metal bucket. (We had thousand of the dam things for making moulds in sand casting/ metal casting) Found out he's been stealing them for years to uses as plant pots and to make miny word burning stoves and a few other things. Not really sure 2000ish-3000 buckets but that's the best guess on number.

This is officially the first camping video I've seen (stealth camping or otherwise) where someone thought to bring a cheese grater. It's the little things that really make this great.

Yes, I noticed that...and then he pulled out a 10 inch pepper grinder! Nothing like putting grated cheese in a baggie and some grated pepper in a tiny container to take along

I'm sitting here eating tuna salad, watching Steve stealth camping and, as usual, he's eating better than I am. He even had a cheese grater! 😮 You are a delightfully unique human being, Steve. Thank you for the content.

Steve, I stumbled across your channel by pure luck and have become addicted to watching. You’re a natural on video and your quests take me back to my childhood when we used to build camps in the local woods and try to be invisible to people walking by. Thanks for sharing your adventures 🏕

A 14 hour day, including commute, at the water plant. Finally at home on a Thursday wit a Step 2, sitting down to my evening of Camping with Steve. What a treat. You never disappoint. It's a guys version of a hot bath with scented candles and wine.

Sure is one clean vest, hard hat, not to mention the immaculate gloves. That shiny wheel-barrow would also draw the eyes of anyone working on site using an inferior barrow. They will see, and say to themselves, "Tomorrow, it will be mine. For the tire is full of air and I shall ride high".

I got on your channel few days ago from Corporal's Corner (dude gave you a shout out), which I've been watching for years now. I love your stuff, me having bit of a homeless streak in the past, I can definitely relate with all the stealth / out of sight, out of mind stuff you do. People do not react very kindly to "stealth campers" even though they can be good to the environment - like cleaning trash that wasn't even left by you.
