Welcome to the Letterman KZread Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. These highlights have been artisanly-produced, carefully-curated, and chosen completely at random by an old computer that used to pick numbers for the New York Lotto back in the 90’s.

Please never stop this. There is a late show sized hole in my soul I can’t fill and all these of late have been a warm soothing nostalgia in a cruel cold world. We see you. We appreciate you. Surely there is a documentary worth making here. 100’s of hours. Long live letterman.

A good deal of praise should be thrown to Don Giller (KZread channel of the same name) as some of these clips were most likely pulled from his collection. He has nearly everything David Letterman has ever done in his career on S-VHS tapes, including his early work in Indianapolis. Giller has now become the unofficial (kinda official) archivist of the show as he's now working directly with Letterman's people, which is a cool thing to see.

In 1987, Del Shannon came on Late Night and did Runaway backed by Paul and TWMDB. When it came time for the keyboard part, Paul just transformed from goofy band leader to full on rock star and killed that part. He just went off and it opened my eyes. It made such an impression on 11-year-old me and I still think about it today. I just hope Paul knows that there are people out here that see him like that

7:32 "As soon as we're invited, we're coming" Wow! Paul's mom was sharp as a whip, just a total delight!

Please do this every week for the rest of time! Paul is such a great storyteller. What a delight it is to look back.

This is terrific! Paul and the CBS Orchestra were Legendary Musicians in their own right. Doc Severinsen and the NBC Orchestra set the bar in Late Night Television Music and Paul Shaffer took it to the next level.

Getting Doc Severinsen’s autograph was the only time in my adult life that I’ve waited in line to get a cd signed. I’d do the same for Paul!

@@ineedausernamenow999 Damn right. LOL. Paul Shaffer is such a Pioneer in his own Right. He has both conducted and performed with all of the Greats, and was the first orchestra leader on "Saturday Night Live." Truly a Living Legend. Let's hear it for Mr. Paul Shaffer." Swingin' collection of clips. I met Paul a few years ago, right after Late Show went off the air (we live in the same town) and talked with him for a few minutes. He couldn't have been nicer.

I'm from the same town as Paul (Thunder Bay, Ontario), and he brought most of the former Late Show band with him up here to do a show once. Considering he's from here, I found it difficult to get to him after the show, but I did get a picture with him. I did get to talk shortly with band members Tom "Bones" Malone and Felicia Collins though.

Wow next to Cybill was Christine Baranski, still going strong: Big Bang Theory, the Mamma Mia movies and now The Gilded Age I think she's incredible.

Oh my god, I almost can't believe I had forgotten about the hiccups bit. I mean, I remember it now that I see it, and certainly the time in my life when I saw it, but it took seeing it to bring it back. Loving these videos.

I guess I'll/we'll never know, but I always wonder if Dave watches old clips, just for the pleasure and the belly laughs. I hope he does... these clips are a treasure.

Paul was just as big a part of the show as Dave and that was ok with Dave and all of us . Paul and the band were the best . Love Dave and Paul and all the folks on the greatest late night show of all time.
