Welcome to the Letterman KZread Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. I hope this channel never runs out of staff members and their (continuing) contributions to the greatest late night show in history.

Yup. These staff interviews just remind you how brilliant show was. I started watching Letterman around 1985 or so as kid and knew i wasnt watching Carson which was my dads fave. It was totally different and man so funny.

I love the shade toward Jay Leno. "His disguise isn't wearing denim."🤣🤣

Correction: *in flight* silver medal well deserved. Originally gold but FedEx air freight (plus billable wait time for signature-upon-receipt were astronomical)
Man, these guys are national treasures. I have been watching Dave since the 80's and these clips were some of the strongest and funniest years I can recall! My girlfriend and I loved the Lyle character. Jimmy Simpson is awesome, haha. I wish there was a way to watch all of the original shows in their entirety. I'd gladly buy a collection like that.
Wow... this is very therapeutic...
Lyle the Intern is is one of the best characters ever conceived and performed. Jimmi Simpson is brilliant. I would have enjoyed seeing his "posse" again, too.
This is one of the best of these clips moments.
"Bring an easy friend for dingus over here." 😅
Many thanks for Lyle- to you both- and Jimmi. Teamwork makes the dream work, Jessica Tandy. I can’t tell you how much joy Lyle brought me.
Kissinger telling the guy “You have the most difficult job” cracked me up😂

There’s got to be a group therapy session for those suffering from Late Night withdrawal, in an abandoned old theater in a decrepit neighborhood, dimly lit, cold (for the guests, remember?), and a guy with the slightest resemblance to the former Secretary of State working on his accent, waiting in the wings for his cue (hey, one can dream etc.)
I loved the Rupert G segments! All of these moments you shared here crack me up!

All great moments. Seeing Lyle come out on the show was exciting. You could tell Dave loved it
That was another good one. "People don't like me." 😂
I sooo love the writer stories..thanks 🤣
Lyle the intern is maybe my favorite letterman bit
Great stories!
Now, please do an hour of this. Please !!!!
Letterman was the last of the late night greats.
If life ever handed me the opportunity to let Kenny Sheehan work over Leno, I don't think I could have turned that down.

Man am upvoting this, while hoping that Kenny is a pro wrestler that doesn’t believe in “only for show” moves (in it for the hurtin)
David’s version of heaven! You boys catch up more!! ❤️❤️ I remember ALL of these!!
Lyle the intern is my favorite character of all time! I literally didn't realise there were so many sketches with Lyle. And wow... I think my brain categorized him as an SNL character!?! It's great to see this and realise where this Lyle character is actually from and the history. OMG I was rolling over laughing!😘

Why these two guys never got their own show I'll never know. They've got great on screen character.
Once again, there is no OFF position to the genius switch. 💡🎷🎺🎹🎸🥁👌

Thank you. Rupert G was so great. Loved Dave’s Mom.
That is wonderful!
I hope they post the full version of the Henry Kissinger bit :D
Dave’s Leno impression is on point!
Wow. Hilarious. Off the chart.
These are really cool!
Jimmi Simpson crushes it on it's always sunny and letterman... he just tried to push it on letterman and had to scale it down from his mcpoyle character
Trick or treat some hair montages🤣 Love Rupert
I grew up throughout all of the 80’s and 90’s watching Dave. I even had a cake for my high school graduation open house with a caricature of him with my own made up top 10 list, and when to college for film and television production. But I never have lived in NYC, and have just been there about 4 times. This past time though in 2022, I saw a taping of Colbert in the Ed Sullivan theater. A few days later, we stopped by the Hello Deli on 53, had a sandwich, and met Rupert Jee. My girlfriend didn’t grow up with the show, so it was sort of lost on her other than the food, but it was absolutely surreal to me, having seen him on so many of Dave’s remotes over the years. He was a very friendly guy. But I tried not to seem like I was pestering him too long, because I’m sure he’s had lots of people coming in annoying him.
Maybe give us some back story on why you guys haven't "connected", or whatever? That would be nice.

We need some "What's Hal Wearing" clips!
AH HA HA, this was so great. These guys are naturally just funny sitting there talking. I had a feeling Lyle improv'd a lot of his unpredictable left turn relaxed weird sh**. Hilarious stuff.
I remembered Jimmi Simpson from a small part he had in David Fincher's excellent Zodiac. He played one of the Zodiac's only survivors, and he's in only a couple of scenes, but he's great.
SUPERIOR!!!
Best
I wouldn't have put it past Leno to sneak in and steal secrets from the show.
Some would call Eric and Justin's fine work 'brilliant,' and it certainly is. I'll just call it 'boffo!'
I love that Jay winning in ratings triggers all the losers.

Lyle the intern talks like Deadpool.
Is it too late to get Lyle the Intern his own show?
I read that the only one who didn't want to do a Super Bowl spot that included Jay, Dave, and Conan . . . was Conan. I think he made a mistake saying no because it's become a legendary ad.
I know the “People don’t like me” line was likely a joke but I felt that like cuz you guessed it, no one likes me
I'll never understand why Rupert didn't get his ass kicked a hundred times.
Is this Smigel and a live action Triumph?
Ira and Barry Shalowitz...my two favorite City Slickers characters. Who knew they wrote for Dave?
Lyle the intern was just hilarious. Check the don'z channel for a collection of all his appearances
😊
To be fair to that crew guy, Leno had a habit of sneaking around and hiding in closets to steal state secrets
Hilarious

A family secret EXPOSED
With all the range he has as a dramatic actor, comedian, improvisor, you'd think Jimmi Simpson could get roles besides just being the evil manipulative sociopath with all the head games.
Dave is a maniac. Why did he retire?
I am glad to have bought a Swedish car.
Kissinger should have been tried for war crimes. He has blood in his hands. Otherwise, very funny guys. I love these videos
I couldn't stand "Lyle the intern" He was essentially playing a sociopath or worse. Ick.
was it a joke? really? thanks guys!~
So this where Ellen got most of her ideas?
These two guys look like actors in a before and after video on the dangers of plutonium exposure.
That’s a really big head
Great content. Just have to say, I don't care for those 'Lyle' skits too much. I like the actor well enough but they just try too hard I feel. Just my opinion.
