Yup. These staff interviews just remind you how brilliant show was. I started watching Letterman around 1985 or so as kid and knew i wasnt watching Carson which was my dads fave. It was totally different and man so funny.

Man, these guys are national treasures. I have been watching Dave since the 80's and these clips were some of the strongest and funniest years I can recall! My girlfriend and I loved the Lyle character. Jimmy Simpson is awesome, haha. I wish there was a way to watch all of the original shows in their entirety. I'd gladly buy a collection like that.

There’s got to be a group therapy session for those suffering from Late Night withdrawal, in an abandoned old theater in a decrepit neighborhood, dimly lit, cold (for the guests, remember?), and a guy with the slightest resemblance to the former Secretary of State working on his accent, waiting in the wings for his cue (hey, one can dream etc.)

I grew up throughout all of the 80’s and 90’s watching Dave. I even had a cake for my high school graduation open house with a caricature of him with my own made up top 10 list, and when to college for film and television production. But I never have lived in NYC, and have just been there about 4 times. This past time though in 2022, I saw a taping of Colbert in the Ed Sullivan theater. A few days later, we stopped by the Hello Deli on 53, had a sandwich, and met Rupert Jee. My girlfriend didn’t grow up with the show, so it was sort of lost on her other than the food, but it was absolutely surreal to me, having seen him on so many of Dave’s remotes over the years. He was a very friendly guy. But I tried not to seem like I was pestering him too long, because I’m sure he’s had lots of people coming in annoying him.
