Prisons and correctional homes has been improved,police and jailors must be given training not to do like the incident which you told,don't put any fake cases on common people,SHO/District police chief/Superindent must ensure that officers working are not cheating,doing the work well. They must behave friendly with public and solve the grievances filed against any police or jail officer in a smooth manner. You had contributed a lot in this as Jail DGP, you have a good heart to help public.No one must be beaten simply for silly reasons in jail or in station,if they are cooperative. Thank you for sharing your experiences...

Dear Madam , now a days in our society corruption is an additional qualification and those who had donr and convicted and those who are Alleged and in bail all are shamelessley walking freely and facing the people showing a Victory sign just as mocking the comon people who are also watching very happily and support them and following them. Jail and laws are only for some one who stole a bread piece due to deep hungry or to survive his or her life..

Madam, it is learnt that for long that it has been a common practice for the prison staff to demand money and valuables in kind from the prisoners' relatives for sparing the prisoners from extra judicial beatings and torture. It must have been as part of such bargaining that the 21-year-old undertrial whose mother was a college lecturer was also beaten on his soles with a stick by the assistant jail superintendent because the assistant jail superintendent knew well that the college lecturer would be ready to bribe him for protecting her beloved lone son at any cost and the boy had supposedly been brought up with much love and care. Fortunately enough, the bail could be obtained soon. The assistant jail superintendent ought not have dared to furnish such funny and flimsy explanation even as a pretext because jail staff had not been vested with the right to mete out punishments to the prison inmates as part of corrective measures. Some of these unscrupulous and inhumane jail staff members won't hesitate to grab from one's begging bowl itself. Here also, the politically backed association of the jail staff is calling all the shots as in the state police, coming in support of all the misdeeds by the staff. Such a pampered youth is not supposed to be capable of bearing mental and physical torture unlike aggressive street goons. No wonder he felt deeply hurt, depressed and attempted to resort to the extreme step soon after his release on bail. The prison staff and the police staff have to be sensitised to this variation during the training itself and through periodical in-service refresher courses. The CCTV footage of the undertrial being beaten could have been enough for not sparing the errant prison official from legal action. Kudos to you for having ventured to reveal such incidents. Hope you will come out with more untoward and horrific stories taking place behind the compound walls of the prisons in our so-called literate and progressive state of Kerala.

Madam, as for the released prisoners and innocent fellows being falsely implicated in further cases, in Kerala, there has been no dearth of such innocent persons whom there is nobody to ask and speak for now that migrant labourers have been pouring into the state in large numbers from other states and even Rohingya refugees reportedly reach here from as far as Myanmar. Mystery later came to surround the poor migrant labourer from Assam convicted in the case related to the murder of the girl, Jisha, from Perumbavoor in Kochi. There were also reports to the effect that the murder had been stage-managed as part of the gimmicks played by the then opposition party of CPI(M) to come to power by whatever unethical means possible in the run up to the election to the Kerala legislative assembly in the year 2016.
