I did this twice on my lawn trailer tires and wasted 2 cans of Great Stuff trying this. The foam never expanded or solidified. I contacted the manufacturer and was told that the product needs MOISTURE to work properly. On my third attempt, I injected about 2 ounces of water into each tire, spun the tires to distribute the water evenly, and then re-injeccted them with Great Stuff. This worked out very well and gave me great results! The manufacturer was adamant, however, that THIS IS NOT AN APPROVED USE OF THEIR PRODUCT.

It does work I’ve done it You need to put a hole in the very top of the tire to let all the air out and let all the spray foam get in there and expand and let the air out you do that and it will work

The foam they were using was fine. Buuuut the foam needs moisture to cure. You have to spray a teeny splash of water inside before you put the foam in.

If you put holes in the tire, at the tread, it will allow the air that remains in the tire to escape, thus filling the tire fully with foam. What you have is a tire that has both air and foam and that is why you had problems. Then you needed to allow the foam to fully cure before hopping in the wheelbarrow. Good luck with it.

Hey bud, the side of the can states to shake vigorously, and squeeze the nozzle with the can upside down. The can has a propellant in it that's quite a bit less dense than the foam. Spraying it upright results in expending all the propellant before u run out of foam and u just end up wasting like half the foam. U want the can upside down, the foam sitting at the bottom to be at the nozzle, and the propellant above the foam pushing it out. It's also been my experience that dispensing it upright causes the foam to not want to expand like it should for some reason. The difference in can position is noticeably significant

In the old days the valve caps on tires were metal and the top part was used to remove the valve stem. Pretty slick you didn't need to carry around any special tools to remove the stem and you could flatten someones tire rather easy.......lol cheers from RDU area :)

it will work if you compress all the air out of the tire first. the way you did it, there is to much air in the tire, there is no room for the foam. that's why the other guy drilled a hole in the tire so the excess air will leak out. plus you want all the air out of the can, lol, you just added even more air in the tire. just my two scents. you should make another video. promise it will work. we do it with lawn mower tires, even four wheeler tires.

Drilling a hole in the "top" (on the tread) of the tire gives the air being displaced a way to get out. Also spraying the inside with a mist of water from a spray bottle is highly recommended These types of foam are "moisture cure" and use atmospheric moisture to cure. They will not cure (or will cure very slowly) in a sealed environment with little moisture... They will not cure at all in a sealed container devoid of moisture Doing those two things will absolutely work... I have done it many many times. and the resulting "flat free" tires last years.

  • @donaldbarrett2267

I think that even if you let the foam dry over night it might be slightly better but over time it would probably crush down. The Flex-seal might work but a new tire and wheel from Harbour Freight would be cheaper and easier. If the wheel comes apart, you could disassemble it clean up the wheel and paint it heavily on the inside and outside then check the tire for leaks by filling it up with air and spraying the outside with soapy water. then fix the tire or put in an inner-tube. I would love to see if the flex-seal would work.

I used to work for a company that would foam fill mining tires. They would drill a screw into the tread so the air could escape and the foam would push out all of the air. It would be 100% foam filled. Then they would sit overnight to harden and they were completely solid the next day. The only problem with them is that they were heavy as hell.

The problem with using foam such as Great Stuff, it requires air to react and cure. I attempted to fill a PVC pipe with foam then cut it up into pieces. When I cut the pipe, the Great Stuff was still in a liquid state inside the pipe and start to foam once exposed to air. Try this with polyurethane Gorilla glue, it will start to foam up once released from the bottle. You need to use two part polyurethane foam, this stuff will react anywhere once mixed together.

Putting it in through the stem and adding a little air will seal up leak, We are at 4 years now and still no leaks. However the bearings are shot!

Most people say foam filled tire but think about this if you foam filled a tire it would always have flat spots at every point it's sits for awhile. Hard tires are latex filled this is a rubber fill and you can run it until the rubber is gone but it adds weight to the tire. Always latex tires nerve foam fill.

I had the same problem. After changing out tubes 2-3 times I finally just bought a solid rubber tire. No more flats.

After watching your video I tried it myself and found that you made some mistakes. First you tried to reinstall the valve stem, which definitely didn’t work. I am went with 2 cans of foam and rather than installing the valve stem, went with the valve cap. I shook both cans, sprayed the first can, put my thumb over the valve while I got the second can. Sprayed it in and installed the cap. All this was done in the morning before I went to work. It sat all day outside in the sun and when I got home, aside from a little foam that leaked out I had a solid tire. I did however let little water trickle into the valve stem before I started. So, I found that adding spray foam into the tire does work.

They drill holes in the side because the foam needs air in order to dry. It definitely works if done correctly.

You can't do it with a tube. And high expansion foam works better. The problem with a inter tube is that you can not force the foam all the way around the tire.

Thanks for posting but I feel the Spray foam would have sealed up any holes left in the tire. So I would have just use the tool to replace the valve then just re inflate the tire. But this info very helpful to me I got an old 18 ft boat parked in my back yard it been there for 15 years since the 140 hp Yamaha engine on it seize from lack of use it become a real eye sore sick and tied of mowing the grass around it it has gotten stuck as there are two flat truck tires on as soon as I blow them up they go down so I could not move it Over time the seats have rotted away But there now hope as this look like it worked so Im going to try it on my boat ties then I can get it out there and might do the wheel barrow as well.

I think you should try the yellow spray foam. It expands which would fill and make the tire tight with expansion

My craftsman mower had airless "bicycle" wheels with cavities similar to tube tires, sidewalls so dry rotted they collapsed like flats..I used cheap zip ties every few inches to keep tread aligned with the bead, then drilled small holes thru tread to insert foam and also allow excess foam to expand out..waited a few days for curing before slicing off excess product ..worked excellent! New wheel&tire all 1 piece, cost about $25. each, Realize that the foam must mix with a certain amount of air to cure...your tire in video might have needed a week or more to cure if at all..

I seen a video a while back that said you had to add water to the spray foam idk if that makes a difference

You can,t give up that easy man. The window and door foam expands like 6 to 1 or better. Good times

The foam generally expands 30% larger than is sprayed. Also if air cant get to it it doesnt solidify. Ive filled them before but did so with the tire broken loose from the rim. The tire was in bad shape. It lasted quite a while longer.
