How To Fix a Deflated Tire Using FlexFoam-iT! 25 Expanding Foam

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this DIY video, Milo shows how he repairs a tire for his lawn tractor trailer using expanding foam and urethane adhesive.
Milo cuts an access hole in the tire, then mixes and pours the FlexFoam-it! 25 expanding foam.
FlexFoam-iT!™ Series foams are premium quality water blown flexible foams that can be used for a variety of industrial, special effects and art & crafts and projects. With several to choose from, uses include making theatrical props (swords, knives, hammers, etc.), industrial gaskets, custom padding and cushioning, and more. SO-Strong™, UVO™ or IGNITE™ colorants can be added for color effects.
After the foam fully cures, Milo repairs the access hole using Black Panther™ 85 urethane adhesive. Black Panther™ 85 is a two-component, fast curing liquid adhesive for repairing holes, tears and splits in steel / fabric corded rubber conveyor belts, providing high wear and abrasion resistance. It also provides a strong, flexible bond between a variety of substrates including plaster, wood, cement, stone, glass, hard plastics and a variety of metals.
Working time is 3.5 minutes and cure time is 2.5 hours at room temperature (73°F / 23°C).
Once the Black Panther™ 85 is fully cured, the tire can be put back into operation.

This may sound really simple, but how about a video on how to fill a metal tube with foam so that it will not sink? I thought about those spray foam insulating products you can get at Home Depot, but they are stored in a metal can, so I assume they will not cure in a metal tube. Do I need two-part foam, what kind, etc? Thanks.

I do not question your expertise or your product. My concern is just how much did it cost for the materials that went into this project. Also the cost of your time. It seems like a great solution with a very impractical total cost.

Interesting video! Just found your channel. But would it be possible to make a mold of the tire, then remove the tire from the rim, and placing the rim into the mold, cast a solid tire directly onto the rim? A hard rubber or hard silicone would be best, I think, or maybe a softer version of polyurethane?

@@smoothon If you guys have time, that would make a very interesting video. I imagine it would be a bit of trial and error finding the right balance so that you'd have a tire soft enough to not tear up your yard, but rigid enough to not end up essentially being a flat tire on its own.

Sounds great, looks like a better way of making a foam filled garden tractor tire. How about long term? Once you fill the tire with foam you have pretty much lost the tire and wheel. I have a 30 + year old tractor cart and haven't seen the replacement tire/wheel with that axle diameter I need.
