Wow great video really enjoyed it, I got 10 wild caught Zaire blue moba’s 11 months ago there were around 1.5” - 2” there all around the 5” - 7” mark now, they live in a 1500 litre tank with about 20 clown loach and numerous l number plecos, they seem to coexist very very well as the tank is very chilled with no aggression from no one, I feed them NLS probiotixs as a stable, and chopped prawn a mussel for a treat, I watched your video for the breeding information, looks like I’ll be waiting for around another 2 years yet, never mind there worth the wait, it’s the first time I’ve ever kept frontosa, and there really great fish, I now understand why everyone loves them.

By area, Lake Victoria is much bigger than Lake Tanganyka, however by water volume you're right. Tanganyka is bigger. Honestly though, this video is incredibly informative (one of the most Informative I have seen on youtube) and I'm a cichlid breeder and watch a lot of youtube fish videos. This just became one of my "must watch" channels. You and your wife seem like a nice couple too which is an added bonus. Keep up the good work.

Nice species profile John. My favorite no doubt. I see you found a nice clip of Gill. Definitely some good info. Wish you would have discussed/showed the difference between the groups ie: Kigoma, Burundi, Zaire. I get asked that one a lot and with your audience it would have reached more people. Maybe on another episode.

I have burundi and samaze fronts in with bulu point and kaiser trophs, Black calvus, lelupi, and Telmatochromis temporalis shell. I went for a tang tank only for the beauty and the tang species.look. Their grow out tank is a 60 gal as they are all at 2 to 4 inch now, 2 being the lelupi. The trophs are at 3 inch. The fronts will eventually go in the 180 gal when they are big enough to survive with my monsters in there. My tap water PH is 7.8 to 7.9 depending on the season. I feed all 35 tanks Xtreme cichlid pellets, all 3 sizes, or flakes because i can get it in bulk reasonably.

I believe that the reason frontosa dont go well with Malawis is because the Malawis stress them because they swim with great speed around them. Frontosa are deep down in the lake where there is much less movement. In my experience they do fine in a tank that has plenty of space and large rocks.

we have a 75g that we have had for some time. In it are two Frontosa, as well as some other fish. The original Frontosa ( Frank ) has been around a number of years. Louise joined some time after that. Well, Louise is now about 7-8 inches, and Frank is still only about 4 inches. Frank also does not show himself that often. Louise rules the tank. Thus, I am thinking Frank is Louise and Louise may be Frank. 4 Frys just showed up after two years

So I know this is an old video, but I have a new 75 gallon tank with 10 peacocks in it. The peacocks are about two inches now, and I’d love to have a frontosa . If I buy a larger front, or raise one in a separate tank would the other cichlids destroy it when I put it in with them (I’m willing to wait until it’s larger than they are).

The Frontosa completely ignore the Barbs which give the best schooling action which I wanted to the tank. Every now and then they will run the Acara out of a good cave spot is all I have ever seen them do. The EBJD pretty much keeps to himself as well except every now and then having to run someone off that got to close to his cave:P Love your videos KG and recently am treating my other EBJD for an internal parasite the way you showed in one of your videos with some success thx for doing all of this:P

I'm wondering cause I have Africa cichlids and their bigger or can I just put them in the 10 gallon only 2 now but sense growing slowly don't want them killed by others

Danielle Cloutier I wouldn't keep them in a 10 gallon. That would only slow their growing even more and they would be very unhappy. A 10 gallon tank is very unstable chemistry wise. They come from big lakes, which have stable water conditions. If you keep them in there, be prepared to risk your money.

+King Dizzy trust me bro these are really slow growers unless you get an adult an Oscar will quickly outgrow it and will enjoy a delicious expensive meal Damn it....Oscars are too aggressive got these frontosa

that answer is NO!! Oscar's will not be a good tank mate at all. I had one with my frontosa's and they locked lips a lot to a point where the Oscar was beat my frontosa's up so that's how I know.

I couldn’t disagree with you more when it comes to putting these guys with peacocks and haps. These are a much slower, much calmer fish with a much slower water flow requirmemt. A frontosa may survive In a Malawi tank, but will not thrive well, resulting in stress and a shorter life span then if you kept them as they should be..... but hey these are just fish we’re talking about here (sarcastically speaking)

That's not a great idea although realistically it might work. You would be mixing fish from different parts of the world. Your current fish are from South America BTW
