This was by far the best species profile out here. Most ppl do them and spend most their video showcasing their tank and telling us what we already know. Can you do one on Flowerhorns? Having the worst time knowing what I must do or don’t. Eg…grooming and food. Can two males be in the same tank? How to sec? Thank you so much!
Great video, thanks for sharing your knowlegde! I have four of these in my tank now, can't wait for them to grow big & beautiful!
Absolutely the best species profile on you tube. Great how you showed different videos of the fish. Looking forward to many more of these.

***** well deserved. Many times people either show no video footage or go way off topic. This is how it should be done
Just had a 5 inch Venustus given to me for free, an offer i could not refuse, we have named him "Vinny" after your monster. amazing video john, miss your videos lots dude. Look forward to some in the future...love n respect...peace.

Great video, thanks again for helpful advise John! 👍🏻 I would love to see a species profile on the Placidochromis Phenochilus Tanzia Star Sapphire!
Thank you. This has been so helpful. I had no idea my tiny little “Bumblebee” would become a giant. Guess I’ll start saving for that 125 gallon now.

@@seandonahue87 For some reason I just can’t find the 125’s at any Petsmarts in my area. (Central Texas)
i have mine with rosey barbs, and ive never had a problem. :O
Hi, 2 days back only i bought a Male "Nibochromis Venustu", and today he is taking feed from my hand, the very sad thing is I have kept him in a small tank, and was googling to know more about the species. I found your video very useful and informative. . Thanks and looking for more videos. :)
Great species profile, very clear and informative. You do a great job of covering all of the bases with the venustus cichlid.
I luv these fish..
Gutted. I bought 3 of these fish from my LFS a few months back who told me they would be fine in my 55g community tank. Recently I've realised 2 of them are getting rather large rather quickly. Only now have I decided to do research about them. *slaps hand* it's 1am atm but my best m8 has a 200g tank and I'm hoping I can give them to her so I don't completely lose then and know they will be going to a good home so I will be calling her tomorrow. Thanks for the info! Xx
Good video profile! You've got a radio broadcasters voice. Venustus video is a little on the darkside & doesn't really highlight the fishes great looks enough, but it's easy to be critic and it's better than I could've done. Mbuna Marcus IMHO has some of the best cichlid videos I've seen on KZread. His lighting, screen capture & video delivery is always spots on. Very High Quality Stuff!
The venustas is actually a great looking fishThe venustas of course that's only my opinion I think all Africans are beautiful this is another well thought out and well presented video I for one am constantly waiting to see what you come up with keep them coming. 🐟🐡🐠
Great Job! As a new aquarist, I can't get enough of your videos. I have been thinking of getting a Frontosa in the near future and would love to see a video on them.
I had a couple venustus in a 35g hex. They were both huge and beautiful! One was always colored like a female but still had kind of purple/blue gill plates. That one was about 10.5". They other was definitely a male and had an almost iridescent blue face and yellow stripe down his face. Has was 11". Unfortunately they have been gone for years.
a few years ago i got miss sold one, the shop said it was a small community Malawi lake ciclid... my one turned into a monster one which ate its tank mates. ended up being in solitary confinement, it got to 11.3 inchs. unfortunately it died from a filter failure when i was on holiday.
Just got two of these bad boys and i am pumped!!
Very nice - i would love to see some more on the more non talked about species. C. Morii, P. Phenochilus and much more. Would be awesome!
I love your vids man!! Keep it up and I wish you great success!! I love how you are open to “going against the grain” when people say you cant do this you cant put this fish with that fish. I am not a novice nor an expert but I am a rules are meant to be broken kinda guy and my “giraffe” is just fine with his tankmates that he is supposed to be eating 🤷♂️ keep the vids coming my friend!!!
Very good information on venustus. The information on diet helped me. Thanks very much
Way to go Mr. Hudson. Great video. These species type videos will shoot you to top man. I love the Venustus and I have one tank dedicated too these fish, also I have one large male I just bought and I called him Vinnie after your fish and my dog. Cheers
Hei comin from Indonesia, here we also called it venustus, i have 5 of this cichlid right now, yes they are the biggest in the tank
Love the video! Looking forward to more species profiles! Would like to suggest jewel cichlids. I feel they are left in the dark and less talked about.
I have mine with gourami's, Bala sharks, rainbow sharks, and Pictus catfish
I would like you to profile Copadichromis Borleyi……and of course great video John, as usual. I had a Venustus with haps and yellow labs and it worked fine
How about the blue dolphin?
Hey would love to see you do species profile on rostratus fossorochromis
Great topic! Great venustus review! Suggested profile: Red Empress
I have a 7" venustus in a 60 gallon with 2 Jack Dempseys, 2 blue acaras, and a rainbow cichlid. All Americans except the venustus.
sweet profile john, definitely one of my favorite fish. sadly mine also recently bought the farm. was a good 9" Keep up the good work
Saw a few of these in OFR's cichlid tank. Always been a fan of the Jaguar cichlid, then I saw these. Awesome colors, and patterns are nice. What's max lifespan and max size?
Great Video been waiting for this!!thanks.please do the livingstoni or Malawi eye-biter, you know what i like about your Channel, your presentation you have more of a quality show, you can see that you put effort in,not like me that's to tired after work to really try except to take n video and post it.thanks for the show i am very excited when my phone beeps and KG Tropicals loaded a video
Brill video John especially like the personal experience adding to the advice on keeping and mixing these with others. Haps are so varied really interested in seeing vids on Haps, such as pundamilia and the like and whether they mix well. Have heard different opinion from every person I talk to.
I saw one in one aquarium store this fish was about 13 inches huge fish
Would love a tank talk on what I call Julies. Seems they are dimorphic and I had a feind the that bread for read illy with every water change..mouth brooder as well. Thanks Rick .
I got one & I love it , it's just as beautiful as some you showed in the video so must mean am doing something right 😁
How about d.compressiceps , they are called the eye biter cichlid it certainly is amisunderstood cichlid , so it would be very helpful
Great idea John!! Look forward to seeing more of these. There's so many I'd like to see I don't know where to start. How about albino peacocks, they seem to be hard to keep for some reason.
U should do species profile on dragon blood / fire fish/ albino dragon blood/ strawberry peacocks
I you got an angel fish, this venustus is evil fish😂
Would it be okay to put 2 in a 20 gallon temporary for like a month or so, the two are under 1 inch right now?
Suprisingly Mine is working well with every fish in my tank Even the auratus in my tank
my cichlids are juvenile now, they are rub their body with stones and substrate and I cannot find any sign of itch or velvet. Please help what to do or why they doing ? Help Please

Hi...would like to see a segment done on colbalt blue zebra mbunas...thank you..
Hey John and Lisa! I have a mixed tank with three venustus ( 2 males and 1 female) and a few mbunas. The venustuses get well along for now but my question is : is it very risky to keep two males with only one female in my mixed tank or should i add one more female ? thanks
Thanks John! Appreciate the effort =)
How about a profile on Aulonocara Maylandi Sulphur Head?
Great video, my suggestion would be the Metriaclima sp. "Msobo" which I have fallen in love with recently.
Great fish, looking to get a few more for my 150 gallon bow front
Great video👍 😂wished my venny had the chance to feature in such a great video. Loving the pair I had since they were 2 inch. Now they are monsters pushing 8 soon
great job.. profile on Arowana would be nice
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Milomo Super VC-10 and how they compare to the Venustus.

What size does male face turn blue? In inched
Can I keep a single venustus cichlid in a species only tank, in a 125 gallons? I'll just put some decos but only one venustus.
Venus would eat full grown lelupi? Thanks for your response
can you have species profile of sulfurhead or kadango?
beauful explanation :) ... good knowledge :).thanks
Hey john, I'm one of your new subscriber's and I have a request of fish profile.. the fish I would love for you to do is on duboisi.. love your videos! They help a lot! Thanks
awesome overview, can you do blue dolphin cichlid. im planning get some. thanks
Thanks for the video. really helpful
There cousin nimbochromus Livinstonii get bigger then venustus.
I buy tons of fish that can fit in the bigger fishes mouths. I've never had anyone eat anything that wasn't bigger than fry (eggs and holding egg sack)
I have kenyi cichlids. I would love to see a video like this on them
I've got 3 Venustus in a 55 gallon tank. I guess I wasn't aware they get that big. The store I got them from did not mention I might have problems with them in my size tank. Should I look at getting rid of a couple of them?

Video starts at 2:39
just 1 more week :D , great video an advise !
Here in Africa we use the easy name Giraffe Cichlid....
Hey you should do some videos on the green terror! :)
Giraffe Cichlids all the Way. They are Awesome
I like this video really much 😊 Could You make a Video like this about aulonocara jacobfreibergi ?
Great vid bro! I'd love to see some frontosas :)
Love them.
I got a few Malawi cichlids in an "assorted Malawi" mix all 2-3 inches and the venustus is already coloured on his face and he's 2 inches!! I also got an unknown hap of some sort its 2.5 inches has a yellow blaze just on his head and the body is light blue metallic colour any idea of what it is?
Any issues mixing these with Fronts? Different lakes, I know but they should still be okay, no?
Question... As you can see in my latest video, my veneustus has been in my tank about a year... And i have no idea if its male or female. Can anyone tell? Im not sure if I focused in on him or her. Thanks!
great job there on your African cichlid fish you show a other african cichlid fish that get the same side in a other video
I like venustus, red empress, blue dragon blood
You do one for the electric blue acara yet?
Nice video, good info!!
Will Venustus can be a good tank mate with frontosa? Thanks
So my Venustus is still a baby ? He’s like 5 inches.
Hi I would like to know about funtoza!
can you do a species profile on my favorite mbuna the pseudotropheos socolofi
Great Video! I was wondering if your store has any Nibochromis Venustus fish for sale. I am looking to buy some. Thanks!
plsss do also for auratus cichlid thanks
Great video!
Does everything also apply to Nimbochromis livingstonii?
I love Venustus, but I think that my 75G is too small for one
When does the male get into "breeding mode"? I've had a big male and two females for some months now, does the male have to be fully developed with entirely blue head first? All three are pretty big but the male bigger and some blue on the head.
awesome vid
How many can be kept in a 125? Tank mates?
hope you still responding for this video. I had 9 of them. one male eight female in a 90 gallon. after a couple hatches and I took out the babies. the male started to kill the females one by one. Do you know that possiblely happen? Thank you.
Very agresive venustus
Hey Jonh thanks for this video. I have 2 venustas in my 55 gallon tank. If do not watch this video does not know that grew so big. You think they can survive in this tank?
