    Great video! Pellets in particular are usually crushed and pushed out there gills but I have loaches that pick up the scraps, I try and feed mostly frozen though. Mysis shrimp is on the menu tonight 👍

    Thanks for sharing and using the intro my friend. Another great Ricky Kenerly video for sure. FYI my fronts are loving the crab me. I was worried they wouldn't bc it was cooked. I always feed raw peeled shrimp

    Mine jumped really really high when i had them. One jumped a good foot out the top of tank like a flying fish and hit ground. So beware. He was small too

    I've been feeding every day and sometimes my fronts are just not interested in food. Don't think I would stop feeding pellet food altogether but I think I'm going to start feeding every other day. Anyways love the video.

    I think experimenting with the fish we have is crucial. What works for one person or fish might not work for another person or another fish!

    I’ve never fed my fish daily. Impossible for fish in the wild to feed every day. I’ve had fish live twice as long because of feeding 2-3 times a week. We waste 50-75% of the fish food.

    Cool video Man! How do you get this beautiful green algae over the pot and rocks? Is it coming from the light only or did you do something special to get it?

    cool video Ricky. I apologize if you have addressed this, I was just curious why you keep fronts as your primary fish? what drew you to then over the other thousands of cichlids. I think they are beauties i was just interested in your thoughts

    There isn't a huge selection of cichlids where I live at. I had 3 pairs of flowerhorns that I got to breed and raise their fry up. When I saw how the fry killed each other off at a certain size I wanted to try a different fish. I always liked fish that had a hump. I got a few frontosas and realized they were not as aggressive as flowerhorns. Once I actually got them to breed I was hooked! It takes a lot of time and patience to get them to breed if you purchase them at a juvenile size and age. Since I considered it a huge accomplishment I decided they would be one of my main fish that I kept. They are also more relaxing to watch. Some cichlid aquariums to me are actually stressful to watch with all the aggression. I have much more that I want to achieve with the frontosas so they will be my main fish going forward!

    I have actually talked to someone who purchased Frontosas from Frontosa Factory from the internet. He was very pleased with the Frontosas he received. He has many types but they are not always available at all times. He is a breeder that I believe carries great stock at reasonable prices. There may be others but I have not found any that are in the U.S. that has the amount of variety that he does. There are a few others I have researched but they are not in stock most of the times I have looked. If you find any good sources feel free to let me and others know in a comment!

    Very informative. Hey Rickey🎊💦🌎🐬 I agree the fish we keep can produce so much waste as they eat almost like Oscars. Feeding schedule you have is good skipping a day. Some times I go 2 days after I feed krill or and high protein meal. I know I text a long reply but it was a long video. Love the Alpha male any spawn yet from your black widow

    Hey ricky how can we identify whether the frontosa is a male or female ?

  • @RickyKenerlyCichlids

    @RickyKenerlyCichlids

    7 жыл бұрын

    It is easier to guess when they are bought at a small size and raised up together to be able to see different growth rates. Females grow really slow and don't get as long. Males grow faster and develop the hump before females. Observation and experience is the next best thing after that. You can also vent them after they are a year or older. I haven't had to do this method. Males are more territorial and will show their aggression more so to other males. There is no 100% formula for sexing of frontosas but the above ways are how I sex mine!
