I love so much talking with displaying your frontosa, not like a lot of KZreadr talking with showing their face instead of their pets

Thank you! I definitely like to show the fish as much as possible. :)
I've started a frontosa colony, currently have three in a 75g tank. Hopefully upgrading to a homemade 120g, and then adding a bunch more. As always thanks for the advice and amazing video.

I actually have 5 very small frontosa's in a 75 gallon tank as well. Did you find a good way to light the tank so it does not scare them?

You can keep 3 in a 75 long term
Nice video! Live in Indiana as well! Setting up a big system right now that I plan on housing a Front colony. Seemed like a natural idea to go with a fish that would thrive in the water parameters rather than perpetually altering the water (especially with such a large water volume)!

So the tank is 650 gallons. Would you vote to be a 20 Front only colony or have somewhat of a Tang community (Shellies, julis, Calvus, etc) with same 20 front colony?

@@taryndeclyn1474 ooh that's tough. 2 amazing options. If it were me I'd add a couple types of calvus. OR add in an M. ellipsifer. A few Tanganyikan spiny eels with Fronts would be super cool and unique. :)
Calvus do well as tank mates. The only problem is they grow so much slower rate. I agree, stick to the same lake.
Nice
Nice fish, man. Your tank could use some more rock and a nice piece of driftwood i.m.h.o
I have a 180 with a group of Zaire Kitumba. With 11 fish in that aquarium they are starting to look crowded; time to upgrade to a 8ft tank. lol

Thank you for the video, and nice looking fish! I have a 75 gallon starter tank and am looking for a way to light it without scaring them. Do you have any recommendations for a decent light?

Thanks! For lights I like the Finnex Stingrays as budget lights, or Fluval 3.0s if you're going higher end.
What about a 125g in a 48x24x29
👍🏻
What makes them die?
I have a question sir. I currently have a 125 gallon community tank with my 9 month frontosa. He is about 2 & 1/2 inches long. I then have 6 other frontosas in my 30 gallon quarantine tank. The 6 frontosas range in juvenile size but overall healthy. Is it a good idea to move those 6 frontosas to my community tank that provide enough hiding spaces & get to know my 1st frontosa as their tank boss?

Fronts are usually more peaceful with smaller fish, than usual African cichlids. So they'd probably be OK. But if it were me, I'd play it safe and wait till the younger Fronts are about 1.5". They'll be better able to fend for themselves around that size.
I would really like to know how you built your larger tanks. I am looking at building several large tanks, but I need some more info.
My frontosa 8 nos in 200 gallon tank keep fighting and chasing around
Can someone tell me about , like what distribution of male female should i keep , to avoid conflict Like all male or all female or 1 male and all female etc ?

Hi. I suggest a 1-3 M/F ratio. If you have a big tank (8ft or longer) you can get by with a 1-2 ratio.
Do you think they would do ok with my peacock bass? My bass are really chill

Hmm, I don't know. Most people would tell you no, for sure. I'd say probably not. But if you try it and it works, please do let me know.

@@Riffwaters bass are in the cichlid family, sure they are big but I’ve seen all kinds of fish in the same tank with bass. I just want tons of color in my tank. Thanks for the reply!

@@lonnietran1925 I spoke with a friend who had them before and he said that I wouldn’t be a good idea because their diets are too different.
My frontosa attacked my discus 😢

Sorry, don't have any solid recommendations. The Reef may have some, but they won't be able to tell you which variant. I may be selling some of these at the CCAC auction in September, but not guaranteed. Best wishes.
Can u give one? A mele one.😭
How to know male or female when small fish
@Riffwaters

Unfortunately it's difficult to sex them when young, even for experienced keepers. If your fish are all the same age, the best you can do is determine that any fish that are bigger than the rest of the group will likely be male.
Nice fish abit skinny though
