Adding Frontosa Cichlids - 210 Gallon African Tank

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

My guys have spent long enough in the grow out. Today we're adding Frontosa Cichlids to the 210 Main African Cichlid Tank!
Frontosa Cichlids are one of the most popular African Cichlids in the hobby. Coming from Lake Tanganyika they require a very brackish tank water!

Hey Kev, great video as usual! Question do you pump straight tap water to your tank? Or do you get it to temp first the pump it to your tank?. I have been sending water to a separate container getting it to temp then add all of my chems and minerals let it mix and aerate with a pump then send it to my tank. When I upgrade to a 200+ tank I won't be able to do this as easily. Your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks man your a great addition to this space!

So I fill up a 55G tote in my tub and set the hot and cold to the temp I need, then my pump sends the warm water to the tank. Keep in mind that your temp doesnt have to be exact. 3-5 degrees off is ok but of course this depends on how hardy your fish are. Heres a video of how I refill my tank - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z4ho1sGJlLupgdo.html

I believe all water conditioner on the market deplete oxygen because the chemical reaction need oxygen to complete. Unless they come up with new chemical reaction which is (unnecessary) for marketing purposes of taking more of your money. I don't see why they would reinvent the wheel.

Hey Kev, I've been following your channel for quite a bit now and I must say, you got this hobby down packed.. Love your tanks bro. Just a quick question though ? I have an adult size Insignus Hap about 6 to 7 inches. He is tank mates with a bunch of other peacocks and haps. So it's been around 2 months now and he does not want to eat anything. Besides him all my other fish eat perfectly fine. Is there anything that I can do to have him eat? I feed them Omega one pellets and bug bites from time to time. I've been testing my water and doing water changes at least once a week and everything seems to be good. I'd really appreciate any feedback you may have on this lil issue. Don't want my big boy to die sooner or later. Happy fish keeping to you and all my friends!!!!!!

Hi Kaveman, I want to pick you brain. I've had African Cichlids for about a year now. A few deaths here and there early on (I'm still a beginner) but for a while it was good now I'm getting the one of death here and there the past 3 months like some dying every 2 weeks) My water parameters are good, I have good filters (Fluval 407) and most of the recommendations form you (wave maker etc). I can't figure out why some would die. I have a 200 Litre tank (43 gallons) I noticed fish days before i know they will die is that they're often slow. hang back from the rest when they swim up to the tanks. it like they're very low on energy. What could be the problem?
