Solo Overnight in a Weird Heated eBay Tent

Spending the night at one of my favourite wild spots in a weird tent bought on eBay, I heat the tent with no log burner and cook some mexican snacks.

Andy mate, my brother, Richard Minto, loved your channel, he sadly passed away a week ago, he was paralysed for 4 years before his passing, but before his passion was bushcraft, and all outdoor activities . He would walk the cairngorm mountains up here in Scotland for fun before his incident, keep going with your channel please xx

I have fibromyalgia a pain disorder, and now I can hardly walk. Your channel makes it feel like Im out camping with my husband, who is clearly your long lost brother. Love watching the new tents and fires. And your voice is soothing and relaxing. I wake up in the night bc of pain and watch your videos, and it helps me to chill a bit and think about the woods and wild camping. Thank u so much x

I’m sorry you have Fibromyalgia, I do too, I’m finally getting old enough that I can tell people I’ve retired, when I was younger I developed fibro literally out of no where. Turns out it was most likely caused by statin cholesterol medication, just like dementia the medical community wants to blame everything but themselves. I love watching nomad and camping videos, maybe one day I will be able to camp again, my husband is handicapped which he always has been, it wasn’t ever a problem because what he can’t do, I can… or could. Poor guy really got the short end of the stick, I was supposed to be his help mate, I adore him, but he’s done so much for me instead. I am finding some help from magnesium glycinate 400-800 mg at bedtime, really helps with restless leg syndrome, and I fall asleep a little easier too. I just learned today about B1, thiamine so I am looking into adding that to my supplements. Best wishes fibro warrior!

@@valerief1231 look into benfo-thiamine instead, better absorption in the body. Against to much pain I use cbd + thc. Let nature and good organic food be our healing. If moving like walking or yoga is too much, look into Qigong (I like Holden-7 minutes of magic etc. best.) Nature is southing like music. Camping, or just lying under the canopy..and listen to the wind is the best gift to ourselves. That's why we love these videos so much. And the voice ofcourse. A voice that should read us little bedtimes stories.. Hinthint❤️

Northern Ontario Canada here. We use these tents extensively on the lake in the winter. Most people use portable propane heaters in these tents. I have an insulated one and recently have been running a small wood stove. Propane produces a lot of moisture which then freezes on the walls of the tent. Wood stoves or the portable diesel air heaters are the way to go. Cheers Andy, great vid as always!

Hey Andy! Glad to see a new video. I think the reason you can see through the seams is because it's not important when the lake is frozen and it's too cold to rain. And a rain fly would be nice on dry land in the summer 😅 camp on , old chap.

Modern take on an old favourite. When I was a kid paraffin heaters, a bit like that, were everywhere. And the pump up light versions. We used them in the house. In the outdoor toilet. Night fishing. Most places you wanted heat. The old style had feet on the top. Like a gas stove. And were effective cookers. We never drained them. Just wedge them in the car and go. Spent many a night cuddling one on the Admiralty Pier Dover. Supposedly Cod fishing. Mostly feeding the fish. The wick on that new one is weird. And of course, we used Esso blue. Otherwise the smoke got in your eyes.

I definitely love the idea of a tent like this. I'm of an age now that being able to stand up in me tent is invaluable, and most 2/3 man pop-ups or domes aren't even close to tall enough. I absolutely need waterproof, and a fair degree of windproof is also quite handy. I'd definitely like to see more reviews of similar tents, just maybe a bit more 'premium'.

I have the same ice fishing shelter but mine is made by Nordic and it is insulated. I use it for hot tenting with a big buddy propane heater. Works great and very fast set up. The insulated version really blocks the wind and holds the heat. Great video!

I really liked this tent. You are right in your assumption they are brining out all kinds of versions of pop ups. Like most have commented your videos are so enjoyable. Lots of different information and as I have commented before the food.... omg you make cooking look so easy. Thank you again for such a informative and interesting video. We are so lucky to have you to tune into. Looking forward to the next one!

Hard water fisherman from NY USA, usually heat my hut when it gets below 35 f. Edit. I use a Eskimo 350 xd. Insulated and has a full door on one side. Would definitely recommend. It weighs about 55 pounds, it's roomy and warm. A little ceiling fan makes a huge difference with heating these style tents.

I’m from the UK and now a US Citizen and I love your content. I wish I could so camp like you do, I live in Arizona now and to get lower temps during summer time we have to drive to northern AZ. Also Mosquitos here are brutal.

Cheers from Canada Andy. That is one cheap knockoff of an ice tent. I have an insulated quilted model and have slept in it at -30 degrees C with my Winnerwell stove. They're perfect for ice fishing, but that one even has windows that are cheap and positioned too high. With a good one, you can look outside while seated, important for monitoring your fishing line. Anytime you and any of your mates would like to trip to Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario you're welcome to stay here, as I live 15 minutes from the park. Thanks for your enthusiasm and joie de vivre.

Me dad had one of them heaters at high brandon, when we had a bath. No cielings as building works. Then we had a billy boiler for water heat. That came out of a pipe from the fell. And that was our baths for 6 mnths.

When you get home pop up the tent in your garage or covered car port then step into it with a tube of seam sealant and daub where you see light. Presto! waterproof! It's always a good idea to keep a tube handy when tent camping anyway. Those tents are used a lot up here in Alaska. You're going to pop it up anyway for drying. Put that time to good use. Then take it out again when it's raining then make a final review. Another good video. Seeya next week.
