Wait...What is SLAP HITTING???
For anyone stumbling across my channel who doesn't know what a Slap Hitter is, WELCOME! You are in for a speedy treat. Slappers are the fast, lefties that you see running through the box while they are hitting. Here is a quick video from Natasha Watley (2x Olympian Slapper, UCLA).
• Softball Slap Hitting ...
My true inspiration comes from my mom (lifelong coach) and India Chiles from Slapper Nation/Tennessee who both played a tremendous role in my progress as a triple threat.
If you are interested in joining our Friday Zoom Group Lessons during May 2020, send me an email to request the link and password.
Stay healthy and HAPPY on quarantine...and see you hitting the dirt soon.

Great tutorial!!! A point that needs to be made concerns the split grip (separated hands). Many young players will confuse the value of using the split grip in slapping vs. normal hitting. The split grip is perfectly fine for slapping where power is not the goal. However, when hitting normally, separating the hands will absolutely reduce power. The further apart your hands are, the less energy you can transmit to the ball. Also, if you split your hands in an extreme manner, your control over the bat will actually become less precise. The reasons for this lie in the physics that surround hitting and are too complicated to explain here. If the split grip feels better for you when slapping that's fine, but keep it minimal and do NOT use it when hitting normally.

I noticed that when your crossover foot lands, it falls about 8-10 inches short of the front chalk line. Adjust your footwork so that the back foot lands at, or even on, the front chalk line and you’ll be closer to first base. Don’t penalize your self by creating a longer path to the base. On a close play inches count. Love your videos.

Thanks. Actually if you look at the direct path to the base, being all the way at the front of the box actually creates a longer distance. Either way, being in time with the pitch is the most important skill. Thanks for watching 🥰

Difficulty in reading signs usually is not the player's fault! If you have difficulty, your coach needs to get better at it. This goes for signals or number signs! Unite with your teammates and talk to your coach about his/her technique! 😯
