I often thought how inconvenient it would be mounted to the rear of your vehicle, not knowing exactly what the plow is doing. THEN(!!!) I realized effective May 2018 the feds required back-up cameras to be on all vehicles! Welp...problem more or less solved as long as the camera eye (Rush reference there 😏) is kept clean! And some brand trucks allow you to disable that alarm; apparently Ford isn't one of them.

Big mistake, put the top pins back in, if that plow rides up too high it will come off and damage your tail gate.
@tylerohara7141
4 ай бұрын
Maybe I’m an idiot but the cutting edge on the blade is always trying to push the blade down, and I notice as he pulls ahead the back dragging lifts the blade, he would have to have snow deeper than the bumper to have the blade fall off, and he’d be driving forward likely stuck, I don’t see where the blade would ever touch his tail gate. Correct me if I’m wrong, it’s a pretty cool set up
@stevehoudek9235
4 ай бұрын
@@tylerohara7141 believe me, I own one. When you hit the big pile going forward, the blade starts to rise up (which is not shown in this video) and if the top retaining pins are not in, it will go over the top and possibly damage the vehicle. It rises to help pile the snow high. I forgot to put them in once and learned the hard way. Doubt it would ever be an issue when backing up.
@lateralus411

Yeah I agree with your comment 100%. I’ve been using this same plow on my old 98 Dakota for 8 winters now. I use it on the front end and last year I was pushing snow into a bank and the plow floated up and off the rails as I approached a high snow bank. I didn’t have the retaining pins in and so the plow popped off the rail upwards and suddenly and this caused it to slam down onto my hood causing pretty good damage.

It may work in a homeowners driveway or property. If they have a lot of space that needs to be pushed backwards and the truck can’t turn around but in this video that truck could turn around just fine. That is absolutely worthless for commercial use and you can’t articulated left or right or upper down

For your use im not a fan. All that work would we down in a couple minutes with a plow on the front back and forth no hesitation going forward moving snow. They make better setups for hitches that can drag snow away from buildings. In my opinion thats the only real use, get in very close with a straight blade "plow" and drag it away from obstacles then clear it with your plow. No truck is meant to push anything in reverse let alone snow, which builds up (a trailer is one thing, snow is completely different). Lets be honest too, even an f350 or 3500 (same shit different manufacturer) takes a beating plowing, 150 (1500) not made for it

The lateral loading on that hitch is unacceptable. They are not designed to take loads like that. You clip a curb or stump or uneven driveway with the edge of the blade and it's transmitting a twisting force to it which it's literally not designed to take. I'd definitely feel uneasy about towing my 40" enclosed trailer on the same hitch I was using up and down the uneven driveway the day before.

I've been thinking about getting this, to low in Reverse, for my Ford Maverick which has no front mount plow options.
Anyone know what happens if the edge catches uneven pavement, valve, or raised manhole going backwards? Does it trip or is it catastrophic?
@adamj8293
Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t trip but the soft rubber will normally flex and pop over whatever you hit, within reason.
You can silence the back up alarm or you could put a hitch on the front of your truck and you won't have the problem
are you using the 4 wd while plowing or did you not have to? can it be set at an angle at all?
@adamj8293
4 ай бұрын
I was using 4wd and yes it does angle Id say about 30 degrees or so. If you check my channel for more recent videos you’ll see me using it on my tractor using the angle.
Its not as maneuverable or as useful front loader tractor with bucket lift but it is faster moving back and forth and the big plus is you’re WARM and out of the wind and cold
Can you open your tailgate with the plow attached?

One thing to look into tho, most transmissions aren’t built to push in reverse. Weakest gear to to speak. Unless a manual, you run the risk of blowing it out

Does anyone know how this would do with a steep driveway? My driveway has a flat area up top but I’m afraid that when I start backing down the blade will rise over the snow as I start going over the steep part and get stuck on top of the snow as I go down.
@demon72340

The blade will cut its way back down to the driveway once you clear the hump at the top.I have the exact same scenario at my house.It usually clears it on the way back up.

Big mistake, put the top pins back in, if that plow rides up too high it will come off and damage your tail gate.

Correct me if I’m wrong, it’s a pretty cool set up
@stevehoudek9235

You would be surprised at the amount of people out in my area who buy $500 to million dollar properties that have no tractor. They just always get their neighbor who has one to do it
If you don't get snow always it's ok
Thay back up alarm is annoying I am so glad I don’t have one on my truck.
Park it in the garage and back out with the plow on
Need to angle it.
A whole lot cheaper than a front plow, might take more passes but it did the job with ease. For a homeowner this is the ticket
If we were mean't to plow backwards we would have eyes in the back of our heads.

Not bad work for not begin able to raise and lower the plow...
It may work in a homeowners driveway or property. If they have a lot of space that needs to be pushed backwards and the truck can’t turn around but in this video that truck could turn around just fine. That is absolutely worthless for commercial use and you can’t articulated left or right or upper down
@adamj8293

Corrrect. Homeowner only. It’s in no way designed for commercial work, but it does angle left and right. I mostly use it on my tractor now and it works great.
Lets be honest too, even an f350 or 3500 (same shit different manufacturer) takes a beating plowing, 150 (1500) not made for it
Bro you need a professional plow 😂 that thing is for city boys

who wants to drive backwards to plow
The lateral loading on that hitch is unacceptable. They are not designed to take loads like that. You clip a curb or stump or uneven driveway with the edge of the blade and it's transmitting a twisting force to it which it's literally not designed to take. I'd definitely feel uneasy about towing my 40" enclosed trailer on the same hitch I was using up and down the uneven driveway the day before.
Why in the heck would you want one on the rear of your vehicle?
Bro turn off the collision sensors lol
Who noticed all of the carefully chosen camera shots? Basically nothing to challenge the blade. No deep snow. No corners. No grade change. No snow flopping over the blade!!! No piles anywhere?
! Not smart ! Good grief, claims to be a farmer? I have a list of why that's bad. I plow with a 3320•6' front loader•5' rear rollover blade. Your exhaust could plug?
