You should consider getting a set of v-bar tire chains for atleast the rear of your side by side. I bought a set of 4 for my quad and they make a world of difference when you're trying to push the snow bank further off the side of your driveway. They help keep your machine straight and not get pushed sideways from the resistance for the snow. One thing I ran in to was when I tried installing chains on the front tires though is I had to install a wheel spacer so the chains didn't interfere with the shock. Even though I have them, I usually only run chains on the rear.

I think if you used your loader for the snowbank operation you would get more usable space in the same time by lifting and dumping at the end of each cycle.

Fill the bucket use it as a plow on 45 degree to the driveway. Lift at the end of the push. Fast and easy!

I am spending the winter in Florida. (Our first). I don't miss the snow.. but enjoying watching your winter videos.

Oof. Watching you pushing back the banks with the box blade in reverse reminded me why I finally bought a front blower for the tractor! lol After spending 2 hours doing the same thing on both sides of a friend's driveway while they were out of state (the banks had frozen solid by the time they left) my back killed for 2 or 3 days! I was also twisted around a lot for about a week helping neighbors dig out when we got 44" overnight, so after both events I decided enough was enough! haha

Adam, Get some edge tamers for your bucket They should let you dig into that snow bank and push the snow a little further off the drive without damaging the yard like the box blade will.

You could keep the bucket 1" off the ground, doze those banks as far back as you wanted, then blade the raining inch back with the UTV.

You learned a valuable lesson. At the beginning of the season always push the snow back as far as you can! The last season I used a plow it seemed we got snow every 5 to 7 days so even towns and cities were running out of places to put the snow. I used the loader to move the banks along my driveway further back onto the lawn. The next year I bought a snow blower for my tractor so I don't have that problem any more.😁

Blowers on a tractor are the way to go! Might be a bit more unpleasant on a open station but they move snow so efficiently.

Been using a blower on our garden tractor for 30 years, this winter we had to tear it down because of a water pump failure. Our son paid for a snow plowing service for us. We're in NE Ohio and get pretty much the same snowfall here as Adam. The plow guy got stuck in the same snow that is in the video.

The ice should be thick enough now to use the side by side (better to use the 4 wheeler, lighter) on the pond to remove most of the snow (if you have traction devices for your tires). Used to tow my kids around on saucers with the 4 wheeler. Thanks for the pond update. Dennis from Oregon

Hi Adam Been plowing our own 750 foot yard using a Honda Rubicon atv for 5 years or more. One trick my buddy showed me was to plow twice as wide as the road. That way you are less likely to run out of room. But if I owned a tractor I would use that. Much more durable machine. Especially the frame. Take care.

Yes.i use a Kubota sxs with a 60 inch plow and you always have to think ahead.start way wider then you think as it piles up fast over the winter.and you have to think about were the water will run in the spring when the piles melt

That snowstorm gave us mostly rain here on Cape cod Massachusetts and melted the snow we got las weekend and got a light dusting of snow in the early morning now we in a deep freeze...Enjoy your day

That’s a lot of snow guys!! We got 3” out of that storm. LOL

Here’s an idea for you. Use your dump trailer to move the snow on the edge of your driveway to the area between the pond and your house. When it melts it will help fill your pond!

Great job Adam! We were wondering how much snow you got. Up here in Rochester Vermont we got 18” !!! I wish we could have that side by side, as well, but we have more hilly and big rocks on our property. I want it for going around all our trees and picking up limbs, etc…but a vehicle won’t work. I wish our 16 year old grandsons were here to help us old folks, but sports in their NJ home comes first. Love the videos!! Keep up your good work!!

Awesome snow. Sadly we don’t get a lot of snow, the last time we had something approaching that amount was in 2010/11. Great place you have too. I enjoy your videos.

When plowing snow you always plow for the next storm . And sometimes yeah you have to use the tractor

I will say becareful pushing backwards into packed snow with the 3pt hitch. I snapped a three pt lift arm in half doing that once. I hit a frozen spot that I didn't see.

Yassssss sirrrrrrr, good ole mother nature gettin even with us over here in the south end of the fingerlakes region of NY too. We`re around 2+ft total so far. Thankfully we have the right equipment here at home to make fast work of it easily. I enjoy plowing snow. Its the sub zero temps and high winds that get to me anymore. It wont be to long Adam, and you`ll be sweatin in the summer heat out there brother. And all those bugs and insects that come with summer, lol. Hey great video footage! I wish i had the patients and time to do videos. But, i`ve got way to much work and no time for it.

I’m in the same situation in Steuben county Ny . I can’t get into the forest to work so it’s on to other things!

I have a Ranger 900 with full cab, glass front and rear and cab heat for plowing. It will cool me out of the cab! The Glacier Pro plow with power angle and tilt has served me well since the winter of 2017-2018. My only complaint is the skid feet wear out too fast. I have the Polaris rubber flap on the top edge of my blade. It keeps some of the snow from spilling over the blade, except when it’s really deep. I also took a strip of rubber conveyor belt and sandwiched it between the wear bar and the blade. It really helps to increase the life of the wear hard and skid feet, plus the blade will not dig into and tear up my gravel parking area like it did before.

Video idea go up into the woods and tag dead trees that need to come down. Would be cool to do it in the snow!

Guy i know has a plow for his truck and a snow blower for his tractor, uses his truck until he cant push it over the bank and then uses the snow blower to relocate the snow banks into the woods and then uses his truck again. Might be a thought for next year

Trick to keep the snow from sticking to the plow or blade is to spray it with cooking oil then the snow will slid off and not get as hot from friction. Might let you get the snow farther away from the drive

@Eric Montgomery Before the snow season starts, I put a good coat of car wax on the plow blade. Also when I was a kid, and used the ole 'Flexible Flyer sled, used Ivory bar soap on the runners. That works too.

My 1400 ft driveway years ago i also ran out of room plowing snow. So i got a lucknow 7ft three point hitch snow blower. Then I got a 10 ft snow pusher for the front of the tractors.

That snow build up is why I don't mind my snow blower, it's nice to just send it away. Snow plow berms can last into May or June depending on the year. Plows are much faster and more convenient though

I have the same Equpment as you except a 900 ranger. Works great when it's 20 below. The Ranger is done joy riding for 2 months now, too deep. I have A blade in back of my tractor I turn at an angle go forward, or backwards if I get lots of snow. If I get banks like you have, I use my FEL and do the bucket at an angle, lift, dump, repeat to make the drive as wide as I want. Then blade to make new rows. Without a bucket I would be screwed with my long drive. Water will keep coming up on any lake/pond as long as wet snow is on top, sheltered ponds with lots of weight will stay slushy.

That's where a front end snowblower for ur machine would work much better

That Polaris seems to push snow without any problem. I’m surprised, I have plowed with far heavier equipment and usually 12-15 inches of snow pushes me more than I push it.

Hi Adam, I know that this isn’t a video about firewood, but I have heard you say in past videos that you wished that you had a dry kiln for your firewood. An alternative to that is a greenhouse. If done right, it works the same way as a solar kiln. It isn’t as fast as a boughten kiln, but during the spring, summer and fall you should be able to dry a load of firewood in a month vs. a year. I use it for my wood and it works great with no cost for the drying of the wood, just the price of the greenhouse. It may give you something to think about.

We got hit with about 10 here in SE Michigan. It was a nice excuse to get out and do something.

A snowblower on the front and you wouldn't have to worry about pushing the snowbanks back.

A snow blower does a much better job at sending the snow much further from the driveway. I stopped plowing about 18 years ago at home. I got a snow blower at Conneaut about 4 years ago. Now never an issue with snow banks right next to the driveway. I think that i would be fine even if we got snow like 77-78. And 78-79. The two worst snow year that I remember as a young teenager. I made so much $ those two winters. My cousin and I were a shoveling team. We never gave a price. Told the people what ever they wanted to pay. We actually made more $ this way for the most part. We also did some for free.

I agree. If he got one for his tractor it would work quite well. Since he has a good sized driveway/laneway to get to the main road a pull type snowblower may be a good option. It will allow you to drive forward while the snow is being cleared behind you. It takes a minute to wrap your head around the fact that you'll be drive over the snow with the tractor before it gets cleared. It's not an issue. There are many youtube videos that show them in action.

I have a SXS no enclosed cabin, no heat, no windshield.. I live in upstate NY...and I plow with my SXS...

Hey Adam, sure is a lot of snow we got that same system here in Newfoundland, Canada we ended up with a total of 76.4 cm which is almost 2 and one half feet, lucky for us we had very little snow to start with, it has been a mild winter here so far we have had a lot of rain. Hopefully when I get this cleaned up I will get a ride on snowmobile. All the best.

This is why I switched to a snowblower... went from an hour and a half to just 15 minutes.... plus it throws it back far away

hands down the best tool for snow removal is a snow blower. blow it once and gone for good. no unsightly piles to deal with.

This is where a snow blower is good because it disperses the snow over a larger area instead of having berms.

Fun but,. Why do we have to watch the whole thing in slow motion?

Amazing job Adam! Think about the snowblower towards the end, do you have an option for a snowblower attachment for either your tractor or 4 wheeler? I know they are probably expensive, but it would save you the drift issues. Just a thought. Blessings!

We honestly haven’t gotten this much snow since we moved into this house so this is the first time in 3 years I would have had a use for a tractor or utv snowblower. If we continue to get winters like this one I will definitely look into it

@@HometownAcres After using my bucket, 8' blade, and box blade for snow on my JD 5075E for the past 5 years, I got an 8' blower it this year. Talk about a game changer, it's slower going but it's gone. I keep the feet down as to not pick up a lot of gravel and then blade the remaining 1"-2". I've done either the loader bucket bank or box blade push-back many times. With the blower, 1 pass and it's blown out into the yard where it can't accumulate on the driveway. Nice video.

Hey Adam,saw your video about the ck3510 thing's that needed fixed. Like the video and I also have a ck3510 SEL here in western MD. Could you share some insite on where you got your dump trailer to haul your tractor. Thanks!!

We are just far enough south of you that we don't get any lake affect snow or that I-80 belt weather. you have been getting pummeled this year. I think about buying a plow for my side by side but we typically only get enough snow lately for maybe 2 plows a year.

I can't get over how those small machines are able to push that snow. When we do get snow (every couple of years) it is so thick and heavy, it is basically white water. And nobody owns a snowplow.

I say no one has a snowplow down here. We actually have one big yellow one we keep in the sky. But it was broken last year and the solid sheet of ice we had didn't melt because it was so cold even when ghd sun came out. I can't imagine what "cold" is like for you.

Adam hard to beat the good ole Polaris Ranger. I’m pretty sure it’s the best money I’ve ever spent. Although it’s pretty safe to say I won’t have a snowplow on the front of mine. Take care, Ben.

A quick question from a person who has not seen snow in his life as we do not get snow here in Bangalore India. You have a pond in your property with spillage control or excess overflow. Will it be difficult for you to move this snow pile towards the pond so that it fills up when the snow melts. Will this be a costly affair.

whats your driveway material? I thought about putting a plow on my atv but I've got gravel so blower is probably the way for me

I wonder if you could use all that snow to help fill the pond?

The hillside of woods will melt and flow towards the pond. The snow here is pretty deep and will provide a lot of water.

Are you the winner in snow wars? Even for y'all that'z a lot of snow? How much before it turns into work? Im guessing if you think about chains , they would be on the side by side? So you still can get out of the cold? Did you plow any out in the hood? As usual the drone footage waz great!

We did plow out about 6 neighbors driveways that night when it was coming down just to keep everyone dug out

Just be thankful you don't have to do this with a lawn tractor it's even longer and deeper and once you get it built up like that you can't plow it anymore it just makes it smaller and smaller

Is that 60” , 66” or 72”blade on the SXS?

What is the width of the plow you are running?

All of that snow should be pushed down the driveway past the fence and piled up in an open area. That will keep that parking area up by the garage open all winter long. It will also prevent the the driveway getting covered in ice when it melts or sloppy in the spring.

You need a snow pusher for the tractor. better than the box blade, and you're facing forward.

Polaris glacier pro plow

I never tried this but maybe rig up something like a snow pusher with a rope and attach it to your tractor then pull it just to clear the snow off since there's not enough ice to hold your tractor then that water can freeze n become more ice. Just a drinking idea lol 😂

That’s a Polaris Mid Size 570. They work well for tighter trails and lighter duty hauling. Smaller and less powerful than the full size 900 or 1000 models but still very capable as you seen here. If you are in extreme cold climates be aware that the heaters don’t work as well on the 570 vs. the full size models so if you plan on full cab with heat be mindful of that. If money isn’t a road block for you then there’s nothing finer than the Full size Northstar edition with heat and air conditioning. Total package there!

Snow blower is the only way to move deep snow.otherwise you keep pushing it back n it takes many more hours ea.snow.n now you have to work around all those markers.
