I’m glad I actually watched your video because having “Waste of Time” in red letters across the opening screen almost made me skip it and assume it was a review showing the plow was a POS. Maybe take that off? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Adam, You want that 4 to 5 inch drop so that the plow can lay back on it's heals when you drive forward. If the plow is right down on the cross bar, it doesn't roll back on it's heals and "back drags" the snow when travelling in the opposite direction from plowing. Good channel. Keep it up.

Thank for your video. I bought one used for $500 in perfect shape for my frontier and it was to low. I was looking at making brackets to raise it until I saw your video. Just the opposite as yours but a flip of the bracket worked perfect!

Comment mostly for others trying to learn about the plow: works great on the front, front hitch kit was about $200 for my vehicle.

I bought the d r redi plow which is the same thing. 2 inch receiver for the front of my truck was included in purchase price. The thing works great for what I need.

Best investment I ever made in snow removal, we just got a foot today. Yippee!

What is the height from the bottom of your truck hitch to the ground? The website says the hitch can be a max of 16" for the plow to work. My front hitch on a Bronco is at 17.5" so I am hoping this plate flip would work for me rather than making an adapter! Thanks!

Maybe this comment isn't worth much. But I brought an F150 to a Sun Belt rentals to rent a mini excavator and one of their trailers. It required a PINTLE HITCH for their trailer. The Sun Belt Yard Attendant said he hates the F150 hitches cus they're so low. In fact theyre so low he had to take his pintle hitch into his warm garage and flip the house to thr 2" square and have it go up rather than down. So he essentially just did the same thing as you just did with a different part. He had to adapt a system to work on an F150 by flipping it. I'm mentioning this because you aren't wrong, with you to spend extra time getting it to adapt to your F150. According to this yard attendant. However, your comment towards the end of your video about Dodge and Chevy, I think F150s hitches sit uncharacteristically low.

Here’s a possible flip side. I bet most guys who are towing a pintle style trailer are probably driving a 3/4 or 1 ton truck which naturally have much taller hitches, so he probably sees more of those. I had a Silverado before that f150 and the hitch was about the same height. The previous owner of my plow was using it on a small suv so it was actually set up for a very low vehicle when I bought it and I had to get it back to normal truck height. Good thoughts. Thanks for the comment.

You can let the air out of the truck tires to lower the height Gives you more grip too

Which plow do you prefer? Home made metal plow or the snowsport

For deep heavy stuff the steel plow moves it off to the side better. For the majority of the lighter snows the snowsport is quicker and handier. Honestly I’ve only used the snowsport for the past two years. We haven’t had any major storms that I’ve felt the need to get out the big one. I’m in central iowa so if I was up north I might feel differently.

Get a front hitch. Much better way to go... I have had mine for 7 years and love it. Added Harbor freight winch set up as well.

Year 2. just bought a winch at harbor freight today for it. Gonna get my buddies in the tool room at work to build me a mounting system for it.

@@blenk9607 Real simple. I used two pieces of angle. Drilled holes to line up with existing bolts on plow. Mounted a pulley at the top on the angle. Attached a chain to plow so a center pull would work. I can send you pics if you like

I saw the waste of time note and watched anyway, I look at and learn by watching "Bad" or "Good" videos because both show things that are of issue. I would just add a Question mark to the video if possible, but likely You Tube wont let a video be modified, only replaced. So, the wise watch things to learn, not to agree with the message posted.
