To be fair, he did seem to try to control his anger in front of the All Maudra when she kept going “NO MORE!” He didn’t do such right away, and you can hear him struggle with his patience and his rage as it began to consume him. Of course, he still failed with controlling his temper and ended up killing her anyway.

SkekVar was only ever weak if either had been deprived or drained of essence as it allowed to catch up with him. He almost killed Rien in their duel, but his underestimation of his opponent led to his downfall. I like the idea that he was physically dangerous but still cowardly, only getting into fights he believes he can win. He used troops and savagery to give himself advantage. It gives contrast to SkekMal the hunter who hungered for the challenge of combat, proving his own strength while stealing others'.

One might even say that Jim Henson’s work on The Dark Crystal resembles our own world. Almost like the politicians we have in America were the inspiration for the skeksis. Hint, look up adrenochrome and tell me that’s not what essence is.

I freakin love SkekVar. He's so interesting and power hungry. It was also very interesting to find out that he was once the Ambassador. I never knew that. Keep up the good work!

The scene in the original movie where skekUng is plotting with skekNa and skekTek perfectly illustrates the superiority of the Garthim Master over his predecessor. SkekVar was too much of a bigoted bully to associate with Skeksis with physical impairments, even if their superior intellect could have helped him.

That's something I want to see in season 2. Not only are the stakes being raised because we have Garthim coming, we also have a competent military commander, whom I am convinced was absent from the castle in season 1 because he was making everyone look bad by comparison. SkekUng is the Nicholas Angel of the skeksis.

SkekVar did have an alliance with SkekSa and another SkekSis, but it was in the Manga which is not connected to Age Of Resistance

I love SkekVar the General. Although there is no real physical resemblance, if you look really closely at SkekVar’s beak when he speaks it vaguely resembles Fossy the Bear in the Muppets. This is fitting, since both the Muppets and the Dark Crystal were both done by the company of Jim Hansen. Also, even if it’s just a flashback, I hope we see more about SkekVar’s counterpart UrMa the Peacemaker, as well as seeing the Division of the UrSkeks on screen.

Mine too. I only wish we could’ve seen his counterpart UrMa even briefly, and saw him die as SkekVar did. And the same with UrSen when SkekLach was killed just minutes later.

I think it would be, if it was done right. Maybe not as a spin-off series, because of the general slow nature of the Uru. I think people might get annoyed by the slow movements and speech patterns some of the Uru have. But maybe as a two-part miniseries or flashback episodes in season two. I'm interested in what the Uru are up to during all the crazy events involving the skeksis as well.

DKscribe88 those are good ideas for it to also be a two-part miniseries or a series of flashbacks in Season 2 of Age of Resistance. It is possible, but I wouldn’t say people might get annoyed by the UrRu yet because it really depends on what the plot and climax will be. UrGoh the Wanderer was the one who was truly slow with his speech and movement in Age of Resistance. When the fallen Urskeks became UrRu, they were able to move without staffs. Who is to say the spinoff/miniseries/flashback won’t take place during that time period?

Yes! They really should do a video on that. I’m sure we can all picture what happened to UrMa and UrSen when their Counterparts were killed onscreen, but it would still be nice to know more about them, as well as what happened to them when they perished.

Hmmm a good deal more intimidating for sure but skekung had his sillier moments too to be fair. We know of skekungs sucess in the garthim wars but skekvar managed to win the arathim wars. I think skekungs the better general in the end but I wouldn’t down play skekvar too much either.

Yes!!! It’s because of the way SkekVar’s mouth moves. It vaguely resembles the way Fossie the bear’s mouth moves, although they of course looked nothing alike.

Well the skeksis look like anthropomorphic dragons with beaks while the urru look more like anthropomorphic sauropods with ears and hair of dogs. After all these two beings are reptilian race, even sometimes most reptiles have beak shape snouts.

So, the skeksis and the Uru series are awesome, as well as the gelfing clan description videos, but I figure that eventually you'll do a whole series about all the individual gelflings, not just the clans. I was wondering when that might happen. Also, does anyone have predictions about season 2? I'm hoping Tavra might not actually be dead, and that some episodes focus on what happens in the J.M. Lee novels. I know canon is weird between the movie, novels, etc. but a lot of cool stuff happens in the books, and I'd hate to see those great adventures swept under the rug. Because honestly, I don't think Naia, Kylan, Onica or Gurjin were included enough. Then again, I always like the side characters best in every series I watch, and DC: AoR is no different. If any of this is considered spoiler territory, I apologize. I did my best to avoid spoiling the books, so I don't mind if you have to remove this comment. I'd still like an answer as to when you might do a gelfing character series though. Love the channel! DK

skekVar died because skekSil killed him (skekVar fell into his trap. He stole skekSil's place) also skekVar gave me an idea as a character from my own remake for a game that I plan to do is from (toys for bob. sega and nintendo) And I don't want it to be a failure if they tell me something they don't judge me, my ideas are good

1:20 wow you mean there is a subterranean race of creatures that could attack Thra at any time? This is like Game of Thrones territory now. Love discovering all these new elements of Dark Crystal

What did we learn from skekVar The General? The blue moths are way more yummy then the yellow ones.

Do the Uru actually do anything of value on Thra? The Skeksis build armies, and crush the whole planet under their feet, but the Uru seem content to just give occasional pep-talks to the Gelflings. The Archer is the only one we actually see being truly proactive... by killing himself. The Uru are supposed to be the opposite number of the Skeksis, but they never seem to be in any real conflict with them. The Gelflings always have to do everything.

I was looking through SkekUngs wiki page a few days ago, and found something that gave me a clue they did not get along at all when it comes to the mistreatment of the weaker Skesis, which strangely SkekUng did not approve of. Also, I’m pretty sure SkekVar might have played a part as why the Gartham Master was absent. Despite both of the on the same level of ruthlessness, it’s easy to see SkekUng is a lot more think before act then his predecessor. So yeah, no doubt he and the other MIA Skesis are happy that he’s gone.

Yes. The General in the movie was SkekUng the Garthem Master. But like SkekVar, SkekUng was the exact opposite of his counterpart UrIm the Healer. SkekVar’s counterpart was UrMa the Peacemaker, and although almost nothing is known about UrMa, it’s very fitting that he and SkekVar couldn’t be more opposite, one being a peacemaker and the other an army General.

Yes, every Skeksis deserves to die, but since you cannot kill the Skeksis without killing the UrRu, I’m glad they didn’t all die. There were 18 UrRu/Skeksis pairs when they were first divided, and unfortunately only 8 were reunited as UrSkeks.

You’re right. SkekVar was almost as big as SkekAyuk the Gourmand, while SkekUng is skinny and strong. SkekUng was in my opinion the strongest Skeksis, after of course SkekMal the Hunter.

Or in a spin off have SkekVar train under SkekMal after SkekVar becomes curious as to how he survives without the Crystal and wants to become stronger than ever before and comes to understand why Mal left the castle. So yeah, an utter unit of a Skekies learning the tricks of the most feared.
