    Puppetry is a dying art that’s not as appreciated as it should be. I’m so grateful for companies like the Jim Henson Co. that strive to evolve and perfect the art and continue to bring life and joy through these puppets. I absolutely adore this series, watched it all in one sitting. Any word when/if we’re getting a second season, or.....?

    Second Season is inevitable, even if its renamed The Gartham Wars. And I'm with you. What they do with puppetry transcends the art from art to something almost real.

    @@RhiRhiCampbell I'd use the other Skeksis as a base stat and have The Hunter have improved stats and speed, maybe even other class skills due to him preserving his health better through exercise. It's like how certain NPCs in Faerun are much weaker now in 5th edition than they were in 3rd, with them having to almost re-learn much of their magic after the Spellplague and also not having as many world ending threats to deal with that weren't being handled already by adventurers. It was done to balance the game for the new system, but theirs also the lore reason which works out pretty nicely :D

    @@kayterquarter442 see I heard the same thing and that's why I'm just ugh not looking forward to walk to that cliff and realize wow that's it , because unfortunately even though I get where they are going with it I'm not just not gonna be buying the comic I'm sure I'll find out what happens but damn Netflix how much money do you need to actually fund a show that actually just entertains people without buying you points in some area or checks this box or idk how do you take such a beautiful show, a real piece of art made by a true genius and just wait til the guy passes away and then anounce that "hey we decided just now that quality isn't the goal it's quantity and since this doesn't do anything except entertain a strong cult following and create new modern mythos we're gonna have to cancel it, it's just too hard for us to see how this story could be used to communicate the things we are required to communicate to our viewers, and we know it's one of a long list of shows we didn't finish but did you see Thunder Force?" Yah sorry Netflix I'm gonna spend a lil bit not consuming your content I'm sure I'll be back but Dam you took something that nearly transcends every other piece of fairy tale type content, infact you almost invented a new genre, but, I can see that it was too much work and didn't pander to anyone I mean they're all puppets so how could we use it for anything other then pure entertainment escapism which isn't our job, our job is to bring you todays social issues and...". Okay Netflix you have a ton of power to do whatever why get rid of show that offended no one and that could've ended up being a modern classic, something like a lord of the rings but for a wider rage of audiences something a kid could watch with their family, idk this stuff is reminiscent of a time when there wasn't always another incentive to entertainment, I miss Jim Henson honestly he was the type of person we are missing right now everyone taking a side and an angle that puppets are controversial because they can't be used as a means to an end? Or because Netflix can't be bothered to recognize greatness infront them after so many years of crushing it in the industry? Nothing is immune to dying off people are really sensitive about what they are consuming right now, why not make something for everyone and watch how much better the world will be for it .

    Wish they brought up Skekmal in all this since he was the only one with a suit actor which greatly differentiated his movement from his kin. Maybe also the Urru since I'm wondering how they work.

  • @Sergei_Ivanovich_Mosin

    @Sergei_Ivanovich_Mosin

    4 жыл бұрын

    My assumption (just based on how such things are usually done in the industry) is that SkekMal's head is a remotely controlled animatronic part attached to a helmet the actor wears with the actors actual head pretty much inside the suits neck, all the puppetry (and likely voice work) is done off the shot with remotes and microphones while the suit actor pretty much just provides the base body movements. It's often how they do these kinds of suits, granted on a less elaborate level since you rarely have voice work involved with such parts (these parts are just monsters most of the time, they roar but not much else)

    To be fair it would be kind of weird to just move the mouth without saying anything. Or do you mean they would try to match the puppets mouths with the voice actors on set? I guess that's doable too if harder. Personally, I think you get much more realism and synchronisation if the puppeteer is also the voice actor like in many of the Muppet shows.

    @@explorer47422 Sort of both? They do the voices while shooting so the "flaps" work properly, so it feels intuitive to do the mouth movements. So the voice actor has both the flaps and the original acting to reference. It definitely requires some skill in voice acting on the part of the puppeteer or the flaps will force bad acting.
