Make something new based on an old show or film that pleases the fans by employing only those who know it well and/or who are fans who will do it right because they care: The old fans adore it, new fans come on board excited by their rekindled love keen to explore the show’s rich history and beautiful design. Dark Crystal AOR. Make something that ignores the fans, history, lore, continuity, etc. and instead listens only to Twitter, demographics, statistics, and tries to appeal purely to new fans by employing people who either hate or are indifferent to the old stuff in order to ‘make something new to revitalise the franchise’ by trying everything: The old fans hate it, the new audience is puzzled, everyone loses. Discovery. Doctor Who. Last Jedi. Ghostbusters. James Bond. Etc. Will we never learn.

Nickelodeon used to do this a lot too with their best shows. Though they would be sneaky about it and CHANGE THE SHOWS TIME SLOT without any word of warning and then say "Oh its lost viewership gotta cancel it." They've done this with MANY classic shows and its an absolute garbage move.

I was so impressed with the script and then everything else just blew it out of the water

I bet Simon Pegg was like, “Hell yeah I’ll do it! Can I be Chamberlain? Please? Pleeease? MmmmMmmm...” & they were like, “😍😍😍” just like many of us. He’s always been brilliant but if he doesn’t get some kind of award for resurrecting this character, I’m gonna be mad. This is spot on perfect!

I think he took what worked from the movie and just made it a bigger. Plus, he had way more to work with, especially given the performance the puppeteers give.

This was the best original show on Netflix. It had lord of the rings level of story.

Simon Pegg does one of the most amazing voice performances in recent history, the fact that his voice sounds so perfectly similar to the original while nothing like his own is almost like he was possessed by Barry Dennen

When he said “mmmMMMMMmmm” that really hit home 😔✊

Simon you made me love you even more. Chamberlain was my favorite character in the original and he did it perfectly in this. Can't wait for more.

I am fond of this plotting bastard. The acting is so good that you know exactly what this Mmmmmm means. "Mmmmmm i think i have just planned next move" "Mmmmm we are thinking same thing, aren't we?" "Mmmmm, machine looks very promising for Chamberlain"

Simon Pegg is an actor I admire, and the chamberlain has been my favorite character in cinema bar none, but I never thought of associating them. I am glad someone did.

I think Simon Pegg knew he was gonna end up playing Chamberlain at some point in his life. He did such a great job.

The Chamberlain is a true manipulative bastard! So much so I think he would've had a very good shot at the Iron Throne if he was in Westeros!

Just finished watching this on Netflix and I must say epic job loved it.

I also loved when he finished the sentence with that "yes?"

Skeksil is fantastic, I cannot believe that Netflix cancelled the best series on Earth. I am really disappointed in Netflix. Thank you for this video 🙏

I want someone to make an ASMR of Chamberlain. He even said himself he 'whispers' into ears, so it seems perfect. (0:45!!!) The viewer could be his captive perhaps and he's murmuring and whispering to them, tapping his claws and moving his trademark 'Mmmmm' from ear to ear.

My brain keeps fighting between puppets and actual creatures. Not the Gelflings though, those still creep me out.

When he said, “MmmMMm” I just really felt that, y’know.

I watched this entire Season run in one day it was that good.

This character carried the whole show for me. The voice acting is truly superb

This show transfered the intended feeling of helplessnes and terror so well (despite only using puppets) that, even though im an adult man, i had a lump of ice in my chest the entire bloody show through! Apart from a few of the more light hearted scenes, wich were usually podling related. :D Having seen the original movie first i think really helped set the mood for the show, knowing how the story ends before seeing the beginning did nothing to lessen the experience in my mind, wich is usually quite the contrary, but this show was so expertly crafted i could do nothing but be sucked right into the story, the puppetry was so natural and the puppets so emotive, together with the STELLAR voice acting, that it was truly one of the best "movie experiences" ive ever had, an absolute MASTER PIECE! You should be proud to have put this work of art into the world, i wish Henson could've lived to see it! I dont think it's an exageration to claim that this show will go down in history as one of the best puppetry and special effects projects of all time!

You glad this and Cobra Kai and Blade Runner 2049 are the only 80s movie revivals done right unlike halfassed insults like Ghostbusters 2016, Elm Street 2010, Robocop 2014 etc.? i mean Cobra Kai, this and BR 2049 are passion projects by talented people who actually love the material and expand upon the movie's universe and didn't do it for the sake of cashing in with no passion like GB 2016 and some other halfassed attempts at reviving 80s film properties
