Simply Light Designs Custom Trail Lair Hammock and Other Gear

We are taking a look at some more hammock equipment this time primarily from Simply Light Designs. This is a unique setup that shows the new Argon interior wind shield as well as how to set this custom hammock on the ground as a bivy. Additionally we are looking at some other various gear primarily from SLD. This information is purely for entertainment purposes and you should always practice safety and hang at your own risk. I haven't been paid by SLD and all the items seen have been purchased independently by me. Hope you enjoy the video and don't forget to like, share and subscribe.

That setup is off the charts! I’m relatively new to hammock camping (only go backpacking about 6 times a year). Your top cover under the net is certainly unique. Did you originally come up with that idea due to possibly condensation issues that might occur with the standard top cover? Also do the pullouts work just as well keeping netting off the face/body in that configuration and in general? Also, how much a price difference was there in getting it done that way? I’m 6’4” and thinking of just going with a 12’ starter, but knowing if I just get a basic netting I won’t be able to use pullouts and the net would be on me more. Also wondering cause a friend has an Eno and noticed a net makes it tighter and harder to lay diagonal. So do zipped nets keep the hammock from getting to tight? Thanks Sent from my 📲

Everything in hammock camping costs extra LOL. Ive read tall guys should go with 12' or wide hammocks. Also check out the WBBB xlc for big dudes with sewn in foot box. It has netting pull out options and top cover options. Spend some time on hammock forums dot com as there is a ton of info. Also check out Shug on youtube he has lots of info.

Papatechie Yup. I’ve looked into all those suggestions. Shug’s a hoot! Yeah the tall me thinks being more comfortable in a 12 ft which shy’s me away from the XLC. I noticed even reviewers 5’ 10” and less are even going more for the 11 ft which are more like 5 ft taller than them than the 4 ft rule. To bad the XLC is patented and probably can’t just ask SLD to make a somewhat similar 12 footer 😂. Search goes on thanks.
