That’s a cool idea! I might want that in the winter when I have a bunch of junk that I don’t want in my hammock with me. I’m looking at the Hennessy Oversize Mesh Pockets for summer because I went with a minimalist tarp. I want to have my quilts stored away (maybe even stuffed in their sacks if I expect rain) where a drip is least likely to occur. Then even if there’s blowing rain hitting my hammock my important stuff will hopefully stay dry inside my bugnet. I just ordered a custom tarp from Jared at Simply Light Designs today. It seems like he’ll make almost anything, and his prices are awesome!! My idea was simple. I just asked him to add a couple extra connection points onto his Simplicity Tarp so I can attach my Warbonnet bug netting straight to the tarp (probably with very short lengths of shockcord) so I only need two stakes and there is only one line on each side of the tarp to trip over. I’ve been experimenting with going to a single suspension for my hammock and tarp for simplicity and maybe even weight. I’m going to use Jared’s mini-biners to attach the tarp to my hammock suspension with a marlinspike hitch knot.

Papatechie : Jared had my tarp made and shipped 12 hours after I placed the order! I put the order in right as the Super Bowl was starting on a Sunday night. I got the shipping notification the next morning! Jared is awesome!!! I want the large and extra-large Hennessy bags. The big one at my foot end for quilts, and the smaller one at my head end for my sleeping hat and other junk. The main use would be to give me extra peace of mind if there’s blowing rain during the day, so I could store my junk off of the bottom of my hammock and give everything more protection. I could’ve gone with a bigger tarp, but I wanted a superlight one for summer (I have a giant winter tarp already), and the hanging bags seem well worth the weight whether it’s summer or winter.

Papatechie : I saw those. He doesn’t stock them but he still has all the stuff to make them if someone asks according to Short Round. I think the Hennessy bags would work for me just fine. I am slowly trying to lighten up my whole setup. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Nice, I hung my DIY mini hammock right under my DigiCamo hammock.

I would buy this if I didn't have a spreader bar hammock that would put this a bit too far out from under my tarp. What I'm looking for is something like an ENO gear sling, but with a bug net built in to keep crap out. Not sure if it exists, but it seems like another good idea that should be made to me.
