Its a real strange one that you sack your manager a few days before a cup final. Then you put the managers job in the hands of a rookie, and then lose the cup final. Especially when you haven't won a trophy for so long. Can you imagine if Gary Neville was a chairman and did this. Simon would be laying into him mercilessly. I do like Simon, but sometimes you can really see his hypocrisy.

  • @tomeggleston367

No what's strange is your rewriting of history. Jose had utterly lost the dressing room before that Final. It was obvious we were playing abysmally and had zero chance of winning it as things were. Levy took a Hail Mary on appointing Mason for the Final - a guy many of the players had played with under the Poch era. Admittedly that didn't work either 😆

@@tomeggleston367 Im not rewriting history. Thats exactly what happened. What you are doing is blindly accepting Simon Jordans version of events. And its that sort of abysmal decision making which has left you without a trophy for. how many years is it now?

  • @tomeggleston367

@@georgesimmons9775 how can I blindly accept Simon Jordan's side of events when I haven't even listened to him? 😆 I'm just telling you that Levy made that decision - not the players - and you have ZERO evidence that it was the players. None. The reason we haven't won a trophy for so long is because we have been competing with different resources to the old top 4 (and now CIty and Newcastle too). We used to finish about 14th-16th when Levy started, with a wage cap of £40k reserved for Ledley King. Bit by bit Levy got us regularly qualifying for the UCL over either Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea. Even Liverpool and City. That's a brilliant achievement for a self-funded club...and shows we are moving rapidly in the right direction. It's no wonder rival fans hate to see it and spend hours of their week commenting on it online! 🤣

Those that keep babbling on about Simon defending Levy are on a whole different intellectual spectrum than Simon himself lol. I suppose this modern world has made us want to always criticise and crucify people that does not appease us. As a Tottenham fan, and being used to never competing for the league titles an witnessing spurs being spursy, Levy has still managed to bring me joy, more joy than clubs like Everton, Newcastle etc heck, even more joy than Arsenal in the last 6 season and spurs fans are so unappreciated of the stabilisation of Levy has achieved with Spurs in the last 2 decades. Levy made a simple observation, when spurs are high and winning, the manager is on top of the world; but as soon as we start losing, on comes the Levy out chants. It's no wonder many of you can't grasp Simon's intellectual observation on the matter of Levy's position at Spurs so on comes the vague response.... "Simon defending Levy, best of pals" - this vagueness is totally misrepresenting and I'm sure Simon will tell you that himself. As a spurs fan, Saka is the best RW in the league. I must be defending my buddy here :)

With the stadium and training ground he has set Spurs up to compete at the top table for the next 70-80 years. Don’t forget when he took over, Tottenham used to finish about 14th-16th most seasons, in a knackered 36k stadium and with bang average players. Levy is running a business, City may not be running its club in the same way. Chelsea doesn't care about losses, as American owners can just treat the losses from Chelsea as tax deductions to a certain point in the states.

Conte had much better players than José, and don’t forget finished 4th! Ange might go out of FA cup next round, play great football but finish 6th. Conte like José did not get best out of players, look at Bissouma. He was unlucky with World cup and death to Ventrone and own illness.. its not Black and white

I’m a Tottenham fan and I can understand Levy’s decisions as a chairman. Our fanbase has unrealistic expectations from our team that we should be competing for all the trophies available. And that’s unrealistic considering the financial power of Man City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and now Newcastle. I can say Tottenham have overachieved considering the amount money they spent compared to other big teams in the premier league. I can understand the frustration of our fanbase because we were close to winning the league and gotten to champions league final but unable to win it. Had we won one of those, it would’ve been a huge monkey off our back. But it is what it is and for me, Daniel Levy is the best chairman we can have.

But nobody is comparing Spurs to those clubs. Leicester won the league and the FAcup. Why can't Spurs? You're using a straw man to defend him. Spurs have the 10th highest revenue in Europe but the 20th in wages. He doesn't put Spurs 1st he puts his pocket 1st.

Just what does that tell you about the Toottenham players that they refused to play for the manager before the final of a tournament that could have been an only trophy these players had a chance to win and the owner who agreed or acceded to their demands ... Choosing business value mediocrity over footballing sucess now we know a bit more about the culture of this club 😅
