    You ride him SO well! I can completely relate to the canter woes I always feel like I have the oomph but I don't. I've worked out if it feels fast and forward going its probably the right canter if it feels pretty I need more revs!

    It's nice to see you and Rem out jumping. It's been one heck of a year. After the quarantine for strangles then you faced quarantine for COVID. I really hope it's getting better in the UK. It's sure not getting better in the states.

    Doubles are my nemesis as well! My horse has a smaller canter stride, so I alwas have to push her a bit extra to make it. Which means we go faster and with more power into the double, and that in turn makes it more scary 😅

  • @RidingRemington

    Thanks Phoebe, he feels really well at the moment. The bit is probably a little bit dirty as it’s been stored in that box for a good few months. It’s also a sweet iron bit so even when they are clean they look dirty if that makes sense - The metal is just a funny colour 😊

    My previous horse was exactly like that, he clearly loved his jumping but he stopped and ran out non stop, would rear on the turn to the jump, I stopped jumping for a good year (that was a bit long) and when I tried again he was absolutely flying. Maybe give him a complete break from jumping for a couple months and come back :)

    Lauryn Onassis yeah that’s what i’m planning to do i’ll just give him the winter off jumping and focus on my flatwork and building up muscle, he’s a cob like remmi (minus the feathers🙈) but his flatwork isn’t the best so lots of raised poles, hill work and fitness/interval training should be good for him he’s relatively fit right now but had a bit of an accident out xc so just taking it slow and steady and hopefully come september i’ll be able to bring him into more work! x

    Really dislike when riders smack their horses with a whip as they’re going over a jump. It clearly doesn’t work - he trashes the jump pretty much every time you do this

  • @RidingRemington

    @RidingRemington

    3 жыл бұрын

    I certainly didn’t see any smacking with the whip in this video 🤷🏼‍♀️ A tap on the shoulder to back up the leg aid yes but there was nothing more than that. Do bare in mind when you post a non constructive comment that everyone will be at a different stage in their training - If we don’t make mistakes, how do we learn? 😊

  • @tillypink2235

    @tillypink2235

    Riding Remington the sound of a whip cracking onto the horse’s shoulder is definitely more than a tap on the shoulder. In regards to everyone being at different stages of their riding, I would never dream of writing a non constructive comment about something like riding position or something otherwise unrelated to general riding ethics - Using a whip like this is not a mistake that should ever be tolerated in my opinion. You probably won’t do this, but next time you have your whip use it on your thigh so that it makes the same smack sound as it does in this video and perhaps you will realise that it isn’t something that should ever be tolerated

    Are familiar with Cushion Bats? Whips have come on a LONG way since the old school leather bound sticks. A “tap” from a cushion bat, a lightweight, flexible, foam cushioned whip will produce more noise than impact.

    There is so much which needs to be taken into account before making a judgement like this. What type of whip is Sophie using? Why is she doing it? You haven’t ridden the horse.. therefore can a comment like this really be fair? You must realise that a comment like this will hurt someone.. who clearly spoils their horse ROTTEN. Just like you hate the whip.. I hate people who wade into something that isn’t anything to do with them and make someone feel terrible when they haven’t done anything wrong 🤬 If you were really concerned you’d have messaged her. You clearly just like it up there on your soap box

  • @tillypink2235

    @tillypink2235

    Cornish Connemara the type of whip, “reason” for whipping and whether or not I have ridden the horse is totally irrelevant in my opinion - I am against whipping animals and the circumstances of the whipping is by the by. I can tell Sophie absolutely dotes on her pony, and most likely wouldn’t dream of smacking him with a whip like this when on the ground. My issue is that once a rider gets on board their mount, that compassion that is felt towards their pony when handling them on the ground is then forgotten, and the fact that they are still a living breathing animal becomes secondary to the riding task and techniques such as smacking with a whip then become acceptable by someone who would otherwise treat their pony with respect and love.
