Aw Rem! Get better soon buddy! It's so difficult with spring on its way and the sudden grass growth. Just a few tips from an EP ... Make sure he's getting salt in his diet, rubber matting where he stands most in the stable will help alleviate pressure in the sole, just be careful with soaking hay for over 30 mins - fermenting hay can cause a production of bacteria in the gut. This spring like weather does come with its dangers annoyingly! All the best Soph! Sending you lots of love xxx

You are definitely NOT to blame, you were trying to help him and who would know what would result from that, you spotted it immediately and did exactly what was needed to help him get better, what more could you have done? Love and hugs to you all and I hope you will soon be back looking between his floofy ears!! 😍

Im so sorry to hear about Remmi! At least you are doing the right things and addressing it for him. I am sure he feels the love and care you are providing him. Dont beat yourself up too much about leaving him out on the grass either. He hasn't had an episode before so how would you have known? Now you do and can make sure he's tucked away with some hay on nights like that. Loved your hack too on Mara!

Laminitis is a nightmare for horses. Horses with thick necks short Cobb types are the most susceptible. Grass is a big culprit many people dont think about. Glad you caught it early. My horse had that happen. Corrective shoeing for the rest of her life. Bute is what they did give here in the states for years. They have newer treatments but many still use the bute.

Just a thought, are you able to secure the yard outside of the stables off so that you could put Mara out to walk around the yard? One of mine has been on box rest for 10 weeks after a shattered splint bone and surgery - my other horse has been in with her. We managed to use single strands of electric tape to box off some of the yard so the non-injured one can still walk around and be out of the stable without it upsetting the one of box rest. She had a bit of a wobble when we first put him out on the yard but settled once she knew he wasn’t going anywhere. We just used electric fence handles on each end of the tape and attached them to tie rings wherever we needed them. Obviously Mara would still be stuck on the yard with hay nets but better than being stuck in a stable - might be worth trying! :)

Aww maaaaaan! What a year you've have, Sophie. Wishing Rem a speedy recovery. These things happen and no one is to blame. For such a large, strong animal, horses are sensitive and things like this sneak up fast. You've had such great results with that supplement on Hardy and you started Remi right away, so we're all feeling positive, sending love and prayers. xx Yay for the B-team! Oh, and my vote is for hacking!

Oh love I’m so so sorry to hear this sad new. Absolutely not your fault. It can happen to any of us. Also can I help with a tip for your haynet. When your lifting it out of your bucket? Before filling put your big black bucket next to that fence in the shot and when you go to lift it wrap the haynet string around the fence post and use it like a pulley it will save you back loads! Works better on a tie up ring or metal but it may help. My back was so bad doing this all winter until I started using a ‘pulley’ xxx

Sending lots of love Sophie. My boy is laminitic and it’s a horrible thing to have to manage, sounds like you caught it quickly though. If you ever need a grazing muzzle for him, I’d honestly really recommend the flexible filly thin line muzzle. Been the best thing I’ve came across & my boy is so happy in it (I just cut the hole bigger, it’s actually supposed to be the size of a milk carton bottle top) 🥰 I really hope he bounces back quickly. I’m sure he will ❤️ Take care x

Hi. I've played these games many times over the years. It seems that the harder we try the behinder we get. I feel like the more we take care of them the less they can do for themselves. Enjoy your pity party for a moment and then it is time to go forward. Be Blessed!!!!!
