    I’m about two month into the GT bootcamp, finishing up our first project. Seeing all those layoffs spooked me a little, but you’re right. At the end of the day the skills I’m learning are still going to be valuable when the market bounces back. Thanks for continuing to share your thoughts and experiences!

    Steph! So glad I found you channel. Your explanations are so spot on and your voice is so soothing and easy to listen to! I'm starting with Shecodes bootcamp Monday and I had started the 100devs program but I really needed the accountability and structure from a program and not something that completely self paced like 100devs, so I plan to use it for learning back end once I've completed the shecodes courses.

    I like it!! Yep…if one were curious about getting into an information technology focused field of work, I wouldn’t be overly concerned about available jobs at the moment. It takes a special mindset to learn the material let alone perform repetitive functions on a daily basis. Everybody’s got a place in life. Try it out. Structure is definitely key. A Day in the life videos are helpful imo 🎉

    They do have part time programs. It would definitely be hard but doable if u really want it! • @stephf

    @stephf

    Жыл бұрын

    The range is really wide. It depends on your skills, since not everyone finishing a bootcamp is at the same level. And I think a lot of the time you’re going to be evaluated based on your projects and technical interview. That said, I think it’s reasonable to expect 70-90k for your first job right out of bootcamp in this area. Some people I know make less than that, but the potential to make more is definitely there. Really depends on how talented you are, what kind of position it is, and which company

    Both valid points. If I didn’t already have a bunch of college degrees (BA, MA, PhD) I would get a CS degree because of course it’s better than a bootcamp. But that route doesn’t make sense for someone who is in their 30s or older and already has a degree. It’s far too expensive and time consuming. So bootcamp is the next best option!

    I will pick coding all day everyday compared to doing any customer facing role. I mean lets be honest, nobody wants to deal with customers because customers are rude, toxic, and have attitude. We’ve seen the Karens, nobody wants to deal with that day in and day out for the rest of their lives. Nobody wants to work in a call center and be abused and receive hurtful and hateful words from the customer. Coding is the way to go. Gives high salary, better schedule, and no need to deal with customers.
