Hey there, I'm Steph! I make videos about my experiences as a software developer after changing careers in my 30s. I hope my channel can inspire you to reach your goals, whether or not you're trying to break into tech! If I can learn how to code, so can you!

Just so you know, from an experienced technical worker, resumes should be created to NOT distract the reviewer, so that they see all your great skills, their time is usually short so it’s best to have skills standout and not have colors and fonts that are distracting. When you’re applying for a professional job your resume should also be professional. You can be creative in other ways just not on a resume!
Sounds like an honest video. Thanks
sadly, 700-800 bucks is mid-range for a standup desk (maybe on the high-end of mid-range).
Congratulations 🎉❤ love seeing other women do this!
The affirmations made me love this video!! I appreciate your tips! I am about to start a 26 week part-time bootcamp with Fullstack Academy....
@2:46 I dread this aspect of coding. Working with someone else's poorly written code that you can't just trash and start with a clean slate.
Please keep making videos!!!! I loved your insights.
So I was rewatching your video. Did your boot camp not check your assignments like did they not get reviewed at all?
they did get reviewed and graded!
@@stephf okay so what you were saying was that you could get an F and the instructor didn't make you redo it like you could just fill all the assignments even after they've been reviewed and still pass?
This is inspiring. I just graduated from a bootcamp and I am confident in my skills yet I am nervous. Same, we learned React (I struggled through React. lol. It was more so about component design than anything else. I have an OOP academic background so I am used to classes with a clear design.) and backend technologies. But I had fun. On the job hunt now, looking for a junior dev role. I am willing to move anywhere (as long as it's not in the middle of no where. lol), and they have some type of night life. Thank you for your honesty. Wish me luck.
Thanks. Very interesting and helpful!
oooo Great update! Thanks Steph!
Congrats on your promotion, Steph. It's hard work and lots of perseverance. I'm in the midst of portfolio building but I told myself that i'm committed. No matter how hard the market gets, I'm gonna become a dev. It's so hard to change careers because you feel like a teen again, relearning a brand new field.
you will become a dev!! keep at it
in my bootcamp i am learning python; there are other languages. anyway, the confusing thing is if to start applying after that? i spent the last year and half taking data science, data analytics, and even becoming a certified azure data engineer. nothing worked out. did you learn anything extra like flask before applying?
i just learned everything from the bootcamp, nothing outside.
@@stephf thanks for responding. did they teach you any front or backend tools, or just the languages?
yeah the coding bootcamp i did focused on full stack web development. so we learned everything to create a full stack app using react and node.js. we also learned sql and mongodb for databases. definitely not just language focused but more so prepping to get a job as a developer
@@stephf damn, now that's the reason why you got a job so easily lol. I am learning flask, and html on my own.
which bootcamp did you attend?
georgia tech
Thank you for creating this video! It's really motivating me to keep pushing forward in my coding journey. I've been in a bootcamp for 4 months now, and at times, I've felt uncertain about whether I'm truly understanding the concepts or if I'm cut out for it. But after watching this, it's reminding me of my goals and helping me adjust my outlook. I'm feeling reenergized and ready to tackle more challenges !
This is very motivational. Just graduated like a month ago. I look forward to building myself like you have.
Very motivational and useful video!! I am actually feeling down (sad mood) because I don't know how to code a Tic-Tac-Toe board game in MySQL. 😢😢 • But after watching your video, I realized that feeling discouraged is part of coding. • Embrace it!! Embrace the challenge, and embrace the SUCK !!! 😮😮
Sp proud of you 🍀 keep up the good work 💯❤😊
I’m glad I saw your video. Your honest inputs are very helpful. I’m literally about to do my application interview and trying to calm myself down. I hope I’ll pass the interview 🙏🏼. I’ll let you know if I pass
i have a masters and cant get a job to save my life lol.
literally me before
Is the laptop mount seen here from Uplift or purchased separately?
got it from amazon! highly recommend amzn.to/3WpzaVI
So what kind of projects do you put on GitHub that actually stand out? Because I would imagine as a boot camp grad, especially with EDX that some of the projects are going to look familiar. So what would you recommend for a project for GitHub that would actually stand out and not look cookie cutter?
i recommend coming up with an original idea that comes from your own interests or hobbies! it doesn’t have to be huge but build something that solves a problem for a specific user group. and don’t forget to write unit tests!
Your video is boring and very discouraging for some reason...thanks anyway
How did u get an junior software engineer in English ❤?
Super helpful, thank you!

Hello, Congratulations Cool 👍👏👏👏👏
Review about keyboard
I went to watch your video about the keyboard and ended up seeing the dogs 🤣
Thanks for going in-depth on your progress within the company as a junior dev, it's nice to understand how they slowly integrate you, and the practices being used. Great video!
My 4 leg Uplift arrives today. IT's going to be realy heavy I bet.
Awesome video. Can you share the links to your laptop mounts/stands?
soooo helpfullll thank youuuuu
thanks so much for the video I was really anxious for the first months when I will get a job and now I feel really comfortable <3 thanks again this is goals :)
You got this!
Is it a good choice for a person who has just graduated from high school to enter a bootcamp rather than college because I don't work well with books and I'm more of a person who learns from practical teaching. Because I have this subject which I did in high-school called Computer Applications Technology (CAT). It is divided into two sections. Theory and Practical In the practical half, we didn't need to study, only practice. I excelled at that, I was the highest in the grade with practical, I even got 116/150 for the final exam However, on the theory side, I didn't do good, that requires you to read and study. I got 52/150, which pulled me to get to 56% for my final mark If it was only practical, I would have gotten 77%, but theory pulled me back University requires you to read and study However bootcamp, you just need to do the work directly which gets you job ready if I'm not mistaken
Do you leave yours plugged in?? I try to unplug it when not using but i feel like when it charges my Mac to 100% and it’s still plugged in while in use it can deteriorate the battery. Im not sure if this is true? Does anyone Know?
Do you find it wobbly while typing? Does the table shake is what I mean by wobbly.
Thank you so much, I tell people ux design is hard.
Awesome! My wife is getting her master's through Georgia tech. I might go after I finish my bachelor's.
Please what about in Bootcamps in state of Illinois ? Which ones are the best…in Sdet
Loved all your videos and content and already subscribed to your channel. Much love ❤❤ from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳 Cheers 🙏🙏
