Ever since Shohei Ohtani came into the league, I became a fan of Major League Baseball. He saved the game of baseball and at the same time, representing it so well with grace and humility. Ohtani had the same Wins last year as Cole this year, both with 15 Wins and Shohei had a better ERA 2.33 and Ks per 9 innings with 11.9 and Yankee fans like to say what if Judge was healthy all season, then what if Ohtani had a full season he would have 15 Wins and 50 HRs this season, Shohei is like Judge and Cole as one player!

But it's certainly not easy to do. For one...staying healthy. Hopefully whatever team picks him up in 2024 will help with recovery and making sure he doesn't overexhert himself.

IF you look back 2022, Otani should be MVP too. His 2022 was the best single season performance before his 2023, no one can do it again ever. A CY level pitcher 15 wins and 2.33 ERA with extra 34HRs and 95 RBI. His 2021-2023 are the legend of baseball all time.

With all due respect to Babe Ruth, Shohei is the greatest player in history - he is the embodiment of everything a player could possibly be. There have been many great pitchers, hitters and position players, but none that could do it all at the same time. Joe Madden said he could play Ohtani in the outfield and he'd probably win a gold glove. Every true baseball fan must be praying for Ohtani's full recovery so that we can watch this incredible talent make history for years to come.

The English version of baseball is a game called cricket. While the games are very different the fundamentals are the same - you to bowl/pitch, bat/hit and field. We would call Ohtani an "all-rounder", i.e., he is brilliant at all facets of the game. My knowledge of baseball is small compared to those brought up with the game as your summer sport but i've never seen anyone in baseball before who is elite at everything. What an athlete - and great for baseball that it is a Japanese man as it extends the game's reach. Looking forward to watching Ohtani this year!

It's unfortunate that Shohei won't be able to pitch at all next year. But his hitting skills alone should still be able to net him a pretty sizable contract this winter!

Congratulations to Shohei! I started watching MLB because of him. I also learned that there are many great players. Thanks to all the players for teaching me the joy of baseball.

Ohtani is fully deserving and in fact should have his own room set aside in the Hall of Fame. It might seem unfair to other AL players trying to compete with a guy who does both pitching and hitting at an elite level, but that's the reality of Ohtani's greatness. His stats overall are better than the year of his previous MVP award. He deserved to win in 2022 as well--that would have been three in a row.

I pray to the gods he will still be a good pitcher when he's fully recovered...and whatever team picks him up does NOT let him try to pitch just cuz he feels like he can. (And knowing how..persistent and stubborn he can be about his two way playing, we will definitely hear reports of him wanting to pitch later in the year) Don't get me wrong I love the man. Definitely a current great but. His biggest enemy is himself. 😅
