GALICIA, SPAIN - Welcome to Galicia, where we are going to the Western coast of Spain to eat some of Europe’s best seafood. We’ll be some of the freshest seafood then heading to Santiago de Compostela for the night and then the next day to another legendary Spanish seafood restaurant on the northern coast. Let’s eat some incredible seafood!

D'Berto (goo.gl/maps/zr1jMDWZ9JqR5sHX8) - Again, first we started off in Galicia on the western coast of Spain, just north of Portugal in a small town called O Grove. D'Berto is one of the best seafood restaurants and they specialize in pure shellfish, black scallops, big eye sea bream and Atlantic lobsters. Our meal was sensational and the highlight dishes included the black scallops, lobster fried in olive oil, and the insanely delicious big eye sea bream grilled and cooked with potatoes - one of the best single fish I’ve ever had.
Total price - €687.15 for 3 people
We then drove about an hour to the historical and religious city of Santiago de Compostela. I had a chance to walk around a little in the evening. It’s a beautiful city!
Restaurante Güeyu Mar (goo.gl/maps/rjxpMpySD5s7Vi4X6) - In the morning we drove to the beautiful region of Asturias, Spain on the northern coast to again a small village called Playa de Vega. Restaurante Güeyu Mar is another legendary seafood monument, dedicated especially to the sea bream once again. The food was again delicious. Highlight dishes were the tin canned eels and sea urchin, grilled vegetables, and the perfectly grilled Atlantic big eye sea bream.
Total price - €513 for 3 people
It was truly a memorable Spain seafood eating experience from West to North. The Atlantic coast of Spain has some of the best seafood in Europe and they prepare dishes simple and fully highlighting the true potential of the natural seafood.

unfortunately USA is influenced by Italy and France, Spain specially the North is by far the food meca in Europe and top 2 or 3 world wide, this was even told by Anthony Bourdain ( RIP), watch out for the episode in San Sebastian ( should come in next days), it is the real heaven on earth of food

Spain is the best country in the world to enjoy many types of variety food... from the best meat to the best seafood, Spain has as well many of the top chefs in the world and awesome landscapes... so it's an amazing combination and we are really glad you are showing some of these examples to the world. Galicia is a seafood treasure in Spain, you can eat best seafood in the world and prices are not very expensive... is a MUST GO place, and if you want to have even a deeper experience you need to do the Pelegrim walk to Santiago for 5 days at least, then you will became already almost another Spaniard 😊

I love how delusional people proclaim their country to be the best, when they have never visited every single country on this earth. Pathetic to the core.
If Mark is telling you that this might the best fish he’s ever eaten than you know it must be incredible. The idea that a You Tube following can enable a genuine foodie to experience these culinary wonders is amazing. Mark is so good at describing every aspect of the experience and my mouth literally waters as I see his genuine reactions to great food. I’m not familiar with the New England wing man and his channel, but hats off to him to be able to travel the world in search of incredible food.
I’m Portuguese and our neighbours up north are amazing hosts and their food is truly delicious!

Here is the difference between the French and the Spanish kitchen. The French one is big show and some quality , but the Spanish is great product and fantastic quality together with passion and kindness, which I totally miss in France.....Come on, come and visit Galicia!!!

it depends. every european country and locale specializes in different things. France has spain beat on dessert, italy has them beat on pasta, et cetera. If you want the best fish and chips, or sausage, or stews, or cheeses, you go to where theyre best.

@@sleepyjo9340 mexican is too much of the same flavor profile. most of their cuisine is pretty new and based on spanish influence. tacos are ok(and only about 100 years old), nothing wrong with them, but they dont have the depth of culinary culture that spain does. mexican food is more like "local spanish food" than it's own thing. they throw corn and chiles into the mix, but 99% of the ingredients and food techniques are from spanish occupation. Cilantro, onion, garlic, beef, chicken, pork, goat, milk, cheese, rice, sugar(sugarcane), salt mining, lard, oil, butter, et cetera is all from the spanish. and it doesnt end there. their architecture, traditional fashion, music and even things like bullfighting are all spanish culture from a couple centuries ago. I like chiles and tomatos, but on iguana, snake or turkey? The little influence it has on spanish food is great, but it doesnt compare overall.

The key to the Spanish cookbook is to use foods of the best quality, cooked in the simplest way without sauces or spices that mask their flavor, unlike, for example, asian or french cuisine. and tons of veggies! I advise those who want to enjoy spaniard gastronomy to visit, in addition to traditional restaurants, the new generation of vegetarians in which the products are harvested at the right moment of maturity and cooked with a delicacy that seems destined for the gods
I love Mark, but I also love his friend Jeffrey! He has the best laugh/giggle when he experiences food. I liken this to Mark's "lean of pleasure". Both are such fun to watch. The more they laugh and lean, the more they are enjoying the food. I so enjoy experiencing all the food and cultures through these vides. THANK YOU!!

Yes, but is pricey, this type of restaurants, like D'Berto or Etxebarri. It's not like going to China or Korea for street food. Unless you go for pinchos/tapas, for sure. But Mark is getting a good advice to the top places to go. Anyways, if you are not in a budget, you can have incredible experiences anyways, without paying 200€ per meal. If you are in the budget, you have to be picky, but will work good anyways, believe me. Avoid scams in the touristic places, and don't try to eat stuff outside of their original region unless you go for specific specialized restaurants.

Which other country can offer a 15-20 € menu of the day with high quality food where u get a starter a main course and a dessert in a restaurant? and which other country literally gives you food for free like tapas in some parts of Spain?

Pero bueno, yo no puedo competir contra gente que se cree que puede opinar sin tener ni idea. Yo no digo que calidad/precio sea caro, pero cuantitativamente es caro. Comer menús por 15-20€ o comida de carta por ese valor es bastante frecuente. Yo he estado en casi 30 países y sé lo que digo. ¿Tú? No.

Y tienes toda la razon en la mayoria de lo que dices...Pero España es bararta si lo comparas con el resto de EU/E y Estados Unidos. Y diria que tu estas de acuerdo con migo si te digo se come de pm...Y ni me impiezes con la diversidad de la comida. Ultima nota, por algo España e Italia, estan ahi con Japon siendo los paises con la Esperanza de vida mas alta del mundo...,la comida simplemente es de la calidad mas alta que hay!

Estoy contigo, pero definitivamente Galicia es otro nivel. De Navarra y País Vasco me quedo con las elaboraciones, sin embargo, en Galicia está prohibido hacer elaboraciones tipo txangurro (mezclar la centolla o cualquier otra materia prima con diferentes productos); eso es un delito con pena de cárcel. En Galicia siempre dicen que si echas limón al marisco, significa que le estás diciendo al cocinero que el producto no es bueno. Galicia es el máximo exponente de producto: sin salsas, sin florituras de ningún tipo... Respeto al máximo por el mejor producto del mundo. Siempre que puedo me acerco a esas tierras. Además del marisco, la mejor carne de España es la rubia gallega, y pescados más de lo mismo.

No Torta De Santiago or Caldo Gallego? You missed two stellar Galician foods. I know this was a seafood tour but I hope you do other foods of the North West of Spain. Fabada Asturiana is a must try dish. Cachopo is another must try. There is so much more in those 3 regions. Galicia, Cantabria and Asturias are probably the most beautiful parts of Spain. This coming from someone born in Sevilla.

Hi Mark, my name is Patrice and I was born in Mauritius, I really enjoy your videos as I am also a full on lover of all different foods. I live in Australia now but I go back home every couple of years. The food in Mauritius is extraordinary with cultures like Creole, Chinese, African, French and others. Would you consider doing an episode there. I miss the food there constantly, but I do try to have some in Oz, however it is never the same cos Australia does not have the same type of ingredients as Mauritius. Anyways, love your channel, really enjoy watching you sampling the delicacies from around the world and I love your Thai episodes as I truly believe that the Thais are some of the most friendliest and most nicest people in the world. I have been there a few times and have never regretted any visit, they are the the best people and have the most fantastic food. Stay safe.

Big Eye Sea Bream is considered a delicacy in Japan as well. I believe we also grill, but more commonly it’s braised in sauce. We would see the first one in the vid too large, but presumably it’s a slightly different specie. Would love to try these dishes in Spain. Haven’t been there for so long...

Japan and Spanish cuisine have a lot of similarities even though it might not seem so at first glance. Specially when it comes to seafood. In fact, Tuna is probably in its best state when it crosses the strait of Gibraltar and gets in the mediterranean through the Spanish coast and to the Balearic Islands in its migratory process. Thats why many of the best Tuna in Japan is actually Spanish (or rather, fished in Spain), and the best pieces always get shipped there. Its also two of the few countries that have a love for sea urchins and other sea delicacys that other countries dont even eat.
That video was really awesome! Thank you Mark for these recent beautiful spain episodes. It's nice to see my ancestors' delicious foods. I have been able to travel to some of the most amazing places on earth because of Mighty 💅🏼 Travels 🤧 Premium.

I have friends that eat fish eyeballs, they love it, i've never dared, lol! We musn't forget our home made potages, guisos and pucheros, all very healthy and wholesome foods! Mark next time you're over in Spain try these typical home made dishes, an explosion of flavours and textures, try the guiso de patatas con jibia, potage de bacalao con garbanzos, potage de espinaca, all very easy to make beautiful tasting and much cheaper than seafood, it's what every home has everyday, not to forget the simple patatas frita con chorizo y pimientos verdes all fried in olive oil wow, the list is just endless! Galicia is descended upon by Spaniards from across the country in Summer but, given the relative unreliability of the weather there, it's safe from the European hordes (hopefully). It is a magical region.

He’s mentally deficient. There was a video where he ate the huge poop Sack on this huge snail and the gills of a crab and pretended it was wonderful. S woman was trying to tell him not to eat those parts but just threw her hands in thei air as he was acting like it was delicious.

I really enjoyed watching this episode. I have learnt so much from watching These historical sites
I'm from Spain and have been to o Grove this summer. I can attest that it is some of the best seafood in the world. I ended up going way over budget, and it was so worth it. I was never a big fan of mussels until I tried them there fresh out of the rias.
The sea cucumber is interesting and my first time hearing about them. The canned seafood is a must try for me. The lobster looked amazing and the roasted veggies compliments this dish so well. The presentation of the fish was really amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us.
