MAINE, USA: One of the experiences I was most looking forward to in Maine, was a New England clambake. It’s a method of cooking where a variety of seafood, plus potatoes and corn, are steamed and baked, sometimes underground, topped with local seaweed, over fire. When I was Cabbage Island Clambakes, I knew it was going to be epic!

🔹 Follow Jessica: / cheatdayeats
The journey begins from Booth Bay, a beautiful coastal town in Maine. We set off for Cabbage Island, with about an hour boat ride and tour of the harbor. When we arrived to Cabbage Island, I was excited and ready to see the clambake and eat. One of the great things about this clambake is that it attracts so many people, and therefore they cook such a huge quantity of food at one time - making it it even more of a delicious and visual experience.
They had two full trays of lobster, 298 lobsters for lunch! Plus an entire tray of corn, potatoes, onions, and eggs. There’s a very interesting story where they used to use the eggs as a timer, when the egg would cook and crack, then the clambake and all the seafood would be ready. I’m happy that even though they don’t need the egg timer anymore, they have maintained the tradition.
The clambake was incredible, I loved how all the ingredients steamed, baked, and roasted all at the same time. The lobster was probably the best I had in all of Maine. It was perfectly cooked, and some of the sweetest and juiciest lobster I’ve had. That clambake technique is without a doubt one of the best ways to preserve the taste of the fresh Maine lobsters. The clams - or I think in this case they were steamers, were also delicious. The sweet corn was among the best I’ve ever had, and the potato and eggs were great as well.
Finally to finish you meal at Cabbage Island Clambake, you get their famous blueberry cake, which is famous for a reason - one of the best of the best blueberry cakes ever.
And that completes the Cabbage Island Clambake experience. Highly recommended when you’re in Maine, and I think it’s one of the greatest USA, American food experiences you can have.
Make reservations here: www.cabbageislandclambake.com/
Price - It was $72.50 per person

Something calming about watching a group of people get together, eat good food and have a good time
Hi Mark, We just returned today from Boothbay Harbor and the Great Clam Bake. It was everything you said it would be and more. We had a wonderful time, we took pictures with the brothers and just watching them prepare the food was an experience all in itself! The family thanks you for the exposure. Great job and keep sharing your experiences so I can go more places.
If anyone doubts that great ingredients done simply is the way to go they should watch this video. Literally amazing ingredients steamed. And that’s it.
I've lived my whole life in New England (as did my parents, grandparents, great grandparents, etc.). When I was a child in the late 1940s and early 50s, the whole family would get together each summer for a clambake on the beach. My grandfather would take his clam rake and youngest grandchildren to the edge of the ocean and dig clams which we'd collect in buckets while my father and uncles would be pulling up their lobster traps. Our meal consisted of chowder, corn, lobsters and crabs, potato salad, and clams with watermelon for dessert. I was happy to see real clam chowder like my grandmother made with the clam broth and not the thick, floury variety restaurants sell to tourists. All your programs are excellent and I've watched each one multiple times. Many thanks!

Today’s prices….lobsters $20.00 a pound and clams can go for almost $1.00 each. The amount on what was given (clams) is probably close to $10.00 in a restaurant. So I save up and will enjoy both on my vacation to Cape Cod in September. 💜🦞💜🦪💜🥔🧅🌽🥚💜

Maine is Magical! Lobstah is King! Blueberry anything is heaven!!
I trust Jessica's honesty ever since she said, "Not the greatest" in the lobster roll video. Honesty and not flattery is where it's at folks.
Maybe it's because I grew up here in Maine. But I absolutely love the rocky coastline. Fine sand beaches are nice and all. But being able to go and explore tide pools for crabs, fish, starfish, clams, mussels, and lobster. It's just more enjoyable to me. Pushing 30 years old and I still explore the coast like a kid.
I love your channel😊 You are such a joyful person and so positive😊
He's the most amazing eater. He always brings us awesome videos. Let's appreciate his work 👍👍👍
Rad that KZread lady brought her dad, wholesome family fun at the bake.
I've never been to a "clambake" either this was very interesting especially how they use the seaweed and time it via eggs on top. YUMMY!
Oh my God that looks just so amazing even just writing on the boat out there looked beautiful it look like you had an amazing day and great eats that you had to relax on your way back!! Haven't been to Maine yet but it's on my bucket list!!!
Everything looked so delicious and the folks were so friendly. Good vibes all around. Thank you for sharing Mark 🥰
I'm jealous of Mark because he eats so much foods from around the world, he still stay skinny while me watching food shows makes me fat 😆😆

THAT AIR HORN!!!! I had my headphones on!
Mark and this guy are getting a room together after the clambake
Everything that Mark eats from all the countries he visits is wow. His facial expression while he's savoring the food is very wow. Indeed he is a rare wow travel vlogger.

I love Maine. It’s such an amazing place. The food is out of this world!
Mark...you should show your son more often. Everyone loves watching how your kid reacts to things and to see his own opinions about things he comes across.
I'm having an extremely special, amazing day today.
