I'm beginning to suspect that listening/watching these reactions is just me wanting to relive my own first listenings of one of the greatest bands (if not THE greatest) on the planet. I was a schoolboy when their first work was released in the time of Syd Barret and have been an avid fan ever since.

Great analogy with the chocolate. I have listened to PF and all of their masterpieces so many times, I can't begin to count. I still have all the same feelings, the same experiences, getting goosebumps and so on, every time I listen to them. PF is in a category all to themselves. They took the beauty of music and elevated it to something beyond this planet. They will be listened to and revered for the rest of human's existence.

Have a cigar is another great one! I don't recall PF performing it live, maybe thye did i dunno...but i never seen it! So studio version then! Sorrow from pulse is another great one mainly due to Gilmour's yet another guitar solo magic!

While it's not possible for me to pick a favorite PF song, this is among my very favorites. I never get tired of hearing it. Makes me kind of emotional seeing your reaction to their music and I understand completely not being able to find the right words to describe it. You'll probably like Atom Heart Mother. It came before any of the songs you've listened to so far. It's pretty experimental but it's beautiful and I love it. You can hear the origins of Echoes in it.

1967 off Piper at the Gates of Dawn. At the time of its release I lived on a ranch in the middle of nowhere Arizona. Didn't hear of them until 68 and became a lifetime fan. I've tried to collect everything they ever recorded on vinyl. Back then I had a feeling. So it was buy two LP's and one 8 track. Most all have one unopened cover. Some of the Japanese ones will make someone in family happy at my demise. lol ✌️ 🤠🐂🏞️

Roger Waters quit Pink Floyd in 1985, there was bad blood between Gilmour and Waters for years, decades! But they put aside their animosity for each other for one night, to perform at Live 8 in 2005. Waters called Gilmour and asked him if he would do, he reluctently said yes. After the call word came that Gilmour has agreed to play the show, so the long-anticipated reunion of Pink Floyd was actually going to come off. So, for the first time in over 20 years, all four of the Pink Floyd band members were going to be onstage together performing 3 songs I believe. It was a very special night for Pink Floyd fans, some believed that this concert would be the catalyst for Pink Floyd to get back together again. Gilmour shut down that thought right away, saying something to the affect that this Live 8 show is definitely a one-off. I'm telling you all this so you can consider reacting to that iconic Pink Floyd show. The don't have their own gear at this performance, a back line was set up for all the bands to use. So it's not the full effect of a Pink Floyd Concert.

My first PF album when you're talking ummagumma, first time hearing Eugene that I about pissed myself, might have been 14/15years old. Just didn't expect it.

The theme of Wish You Were Here is absence. The picture inside the album , An empty suit handing you a record. Symbolized the record company executives. One of which was immortalized in the song Have A Cigar. Who actually said "The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh, by the way, which one is Pink?" This beautiful bluesy opus is more or less about thef ounder of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett. Who was left out of the band in 1968. The pressures of being a rock star, Touring, writing the next hit combined with mental illness and prodigious use of LSD made him helpless to function. The look in his eyes "Like black holes in the sky" Eeerily they had not seen Barrett for 7 years and he wondered into Abbey Road Studio as they finished this mix.

@@doscwolny2221 Actually Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason. For the record, Mason is the only member of the Floyd who has been in every version of the band. And if ya wanna be super technical, lets not forget Bob Klose who left before Syd Joined.

You're body wasn't sure what to do next because this song is ever changing and I loved every second because you're obviously so into it and it has taken over your soul. Great reaction.

I agree that most times studio is better first. But not with Comfortably Numb 1994 Pulse tour. Comfortably Numb studio version takes over your soul. But not like this one. Some bands are better Live

Only Pink Floyd can go from a funk into a lament and do it so effortlessly. That's why PF can not be categorised into a particular genre. Except for one. The Pink Floyd Genre. Great reaction to parts 6-9 or what i like to call the forgotten parts.

The beauty of Floyd is that they composed music. You include that with a rock group you get amazing pieces of music like echoes and both Shine on, well really any song from them is a work of art but you get the point. Also even before Floyd was famous they played R&B and you can’t tell me that last groove isn’t funk and soul all rolled up into one candy like love.

Fun fact. As this song is mostly a tribute to Syd Barrett, at the very end there is a brief (hard to hear) nod to their very first single, See Emily Play. The people who say they don’t like Pink Floyd either haven’t truly listened apart from the few things they’ve heard on classic rock radio, or they are not comfortable with feeling their own emotions. It took my wife a few years. She didn’t like how the heartbeat on Dark Side made her feel. This music is just different. I was ready for it when I first started listening when I was 12. Other people need more time. That’s okay. But I agree that nobody on this planet can not appreciate Pink Floyd if they actually listen, let it sink in. There is no other band or musician that I can say that about.

Arnold Layne was the first PF single (on 10 Mar 1967), See Emily Play was the second, three months later.

Every intro puts you in the mood they want you to be in.

you're always better off with the studio version first, then whatever you like. it's true that you can't get tired of their music (for me)

To each their own. I know what you’re saying and why. I love the live versions too because it shows how much they are regular folks playing excellent music together and enjoying it. Nothing like it.

Sex pistol, punk group, said that they hate pink floyd. They printed Tshirt with this slogan and got a lot of money. They also became famous by doing so! 🤣🤣🤣

Pleeez do the studio version of Dark Side Of The Moon! Pulleeze!

Now listen to it on vinyl and and be blown away of all the subtleties that digital misses. Analog is the way when listening to Pink Floyd.

Apart from the cracklings and noises, there's no more subtelties on a vinyl than on a CD. What matters the most is the quality of the recording.

I know it's a "younger person thing".... But saying "the song hasn't even started yet" Here's the thing, the track starts the moment the needle hits the vinyl. The Vocals / lyrics kicking is not the start. I know with modern music it's 3 mins 28 secs rapping over a 3 min 30 beat. But with "older" tracks, the vocals are just a part and not the start.

I did meet a young woman ( mid 20’s ) about 10 years ago who apparently HATES everything Pink Floyd..... or so she said. She would listen to any music except Pink Floyd. I assume her ex loved Pink Floyd and played them continuously......lol Anyway, it doesn’t matter...... we seemed to lose touch after she made it clear about her feelings towards PF and I made it clear how brilliant they are. Maybe she thought I was strange because my favourite band was early ( 1968 - 1973 ) Jethro Tull....... Tull lost me a lot of friends in the 1970,s. lol
