Pink Floyd Shine On You Crazy Diamond REACTION FIRST TIME HEARING

Welcome to Old Vs Young Reactions This is a music reaction channel. My dad and I love music and talking about it. But sometimes we don't agree and that's where the fun comes in. Join us for a good time and some great songs. We are part of a family of six. The four kids range from 24 to 13. There is never a dull moment.
The one thing we always agree on is “music is love”. The power music has is the ability to shape and change emotions and that is a gift from God. There is a reason that couples have their song. And nothing brings back your glory days like that special tune.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel. We want to hear what you want us to react to so drop it in the comments and we will do a video on it.
ALL DONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED. Equipment gets expensive and we hope to improve from an iphone and no headphones lol.
God Blessed and All The Best To You And Yours!

Syd Barrett showed up on location where Pink Floyd were recording this very song. No one recognized him. He had no hair. Even eyebrows were shaved off. He had a tooth brush in his mouth & carried a bag of candy. LSD destroyed him as lead guitarist & much of Pink Floyd's material alludes to Syd or going mad in general.

As a band, they were a collective genius. All 4 band members were crucial to the sound, atmosphere and music itself. Pulse from 1994 was probably the greatest live contempory musical event ever , the equal to any opera or symphony orchestra. Then Live in Pompeii shows the same musical talent in 1971.......playing to an empty Roman ampitheatre with hundreds of leads connected together to source electricity from a distant farm house. To appreciate Pink Floyd i suggest Comfortably Numb live, from Pulse, 1994. Then Echoes, live in Pompeii, from 1971 ( released in 1972 and the movie released in 1973 ). Then the original CD or vinyl of Time and The Great Gig In The Sky done together as one song in 2 very different parts.

Guys, this is definitely not from their early era. It was recorded in 1975 and it's from their 9th full-length Wish You Were Here (my absolute favorite). There are only 5 songs on this album (actually only 4, because the SOYCD was very long and wouldn't fit on one side of the LP, so it had to be split). I consider the song Shine On You Crazy Diamond to be an absolute masterpiece, not only instrumentally and lyrically, but also considering the meaning of the song and its message. David Gilmour's traditionally fabulous guitar, Rick Wright's soulful and delicate keyboards, Nick Mason's very subtle but precise drumming, and again Roger Waters' impeccable lyrics. Fantastic! Thrilling for a while, then very soothing, then exciting again and the final solo on two saxophones by Dick Parry is brilliant. I love it. Do a review of Echoes (live at Pompeii). It's recorded in 1970 and is another brilliant piece of rock music. I think you'll be delighted (as I am when I listen to it - for about the thousandth time)... But if you're not a true fan yet, you'll surely become one if you watch any video of a 1994 Pulse concert. The whole concert is of course musically perfect but it's also an absolute visual treat. For starters I recommend Comfortably Numb or Sorrow (here you can see David Gilmour's guitar mastery to the full), then Coming Back to Life, Wish You Were Here, High Hopes... After all, if you watch anything from this legendary concert, I think you will be thrilled and become another one of the millions of fans of this band...

I saw Pink Floyd in 1977 during their In the flesh tour and this video was played during this song on their circular screen they have behind them as the song was played! So it is their video! And it was really fun to hear you say I think this is one of those songs with no lyrics............. Yes there are lyrics and they are very heavy and they are about Syd Barrett their founder who had a propensity towards schizophrenia and too much LSD brought it on and he had to be let go from the band. But they never abandoned him and he was always very well taken care of!!! Chopin the Great Polish composer said it is the space between the notes that is just as important as the music itself! Pink Floyd took that to another level! If you like beautiful music and brilliant lyrics just do "Us and Them" or "Time", from their Dark Side of the Moon album!!

Echos, and Dogs. Hits include Money #3 Comfortably Numb #1, Young lust#20 and of course #7 Great Gig in the Sky (the sound our souls make as we are dying) with the great Clare Tory. (Echos is 6th and Dogs #9 and everyone has to hear Brain damage/Eclipse off "Dark Side of the Moon" an album that ran an astonishing 736 weeks (yes thats over 14 years) the top 200 album'schart. no wonder so many t-shirts. Haha

Try to do the album version(s) before you do any (Pulse) concert versions. Guide to the most popular Pink Floyd songs: - Comfortably Numb (album version first, then the Pulse concert if you enjoy it) - Echoes part 1 (Live in Pompei) - this is actually the only song in which I greatly prefer the live version. Just because the live version is so darn epic and it's the only video with Pink Floyd in their prime - "Time" (album version) is surely a contender for one of their best written songs (in my opinion) -"Money" (stay away from the 'video' version, which is heavily cut) mostly of because of how funky it is there's a lot more, but this is a pretty good start off point :)

The throbbing at the end is the lead into the next track “Welcome to the Machine”. If you can listen to the whole Wish You Were Here album in one listen.

Sorry guys, but "you think of the hits" tells me you really don't know Pink Floyd. They NEVER tried to create hits. Yes, the record company released a couple of trimmed down versions as singles, which became hits (Money & Brick in the Wall)...but the band never aimed for that. They were very much an "album band"...meant to be listened to as a whole album.
