I live about 5 and a half hours away from Alabama's gulf of Mexico and neither my husband or I see enough to drive and we are in our 60's. I love the beach and love to hear the waves.

There are quite a few different types of angelwing shells! I think what you found might have been the "fallen" angelwing, versus the angelwing. Some of these shells look SO similar and it's so hard to tell them apart! Thanks for sharing - Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for coming along with us. Agreed 💯! We asked a guy lately that was fishing from the dock at the boat landing as we came in was he having any luck? He answered, "I'm lucky enough to be here!" & That has become my new favorite saying! Cause thats 💯 truth! We are all just lucky enough to be here!! ... Even though he would love to catch fish, he was just glad to have the opportunity to enjoy the moment of trying! Love it!! #blessedkids

We’re so used to seeing you on the beaches pretty much by yourselves, except for friends and family. Rare to see others out there. Plenty of shells for all, though. Do you ever keep any of the bigger cockles? I think they’re so pretty. I’m starting to get “ocean fever” watching you two enjoying yourselves so much. We spent two weeks wandering the Gulf Coast on our holiday from our BC. Winter. Had a great time shelling as there’d been a few big storms before our arrival. We kept our fav finds and took a couple boxes home to give to the Primary classes in schools in our area...kids loved learning about the different types. After that we drove out to Florida but couldn’t stand the humidity and white sands 🥴. Then back to Arizona for 6 weeks where we rock hounded and explored the vast desert, always looking and saving any and all curiosities! Took home 4 5 gallon pails of beautiful gems and my husband and I laid them out on top of weed cloth and over the past 20 years of holidaying in the same area we, like you, have decorated our yard beds with our treasured finds ❤️. Isn’t God great to give us all these beautiful places on earth to explore?

Nice shells, nice beach, and good people I like Salty Reflections. Told another subscriber my dad worked with horse shoe crabs for 43 years making IV bags for hospitals here in the mountains on NC ( Baxter) is the company they employ 1100 people on one shift. Qysters are not native to Oregon. They are, however, commercially raised/grown in Oregon estuaries/beds by way of permits. If you find an oyster that has somehow been knocked loose from its man-made rack/roost and is swept to another location by the tides/currents it is illegal to take them.

Wow! So interesting! We have tons of natural oyster beds here but even in our area the SCDNR gives permitting of those beds to commercial license holders & such, & they also fabricate areas for oyster growth commercially as well. Oysters are a vital part of the ecosystem as they filter the water. Thanks for tuning in with us & commenting! 💙🐚

You can put the sea star in rubbing alcohol and leave it for 24 to 48 hrs then press it between 2 bords till it drys then paint it with modpod to keep it from breaking.

I saw a Christmas tree made from a crab pot and decorated with lights and garland. It was pretty cool. Thought of you guys instantly. ♥️♥️ Hope the little baby’s are doing well. Man they are so cute and fun. They grow so quick🙂♥️

Love your videos! Thank you for sharing the beauty of the beach with us. We are landlocked in Western PA, and someday hope to visit a South Carolina beach. We occasionally travel to Sanibel Island in Florida, the shelling on their beaches is awesome! Hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving.

I watched one of the shrimping videos. So interesting, but I had to finally turn the sound off. Believe it or not, but the sound of the motor was too loud and my ears started hurting…go figure. 🥴. I love your shelling videos. I’d love to be there with you. I love how you and Oliver love and tease each other. Always looking forward to the next video. I’m sure I’ve seen some 2 or3 times. ❤

Very nice! I really do like the giant eastern murex shells. Wish we had them in SW Florida! I found a few pieces in the panhandle coast of FL and I kept all of them because I never find the whole shells LOL! Do you guys ever find scotch bonnet shells? I know they are present on the Atlantic coast but I wonder if you guys have ever found them before, they are really cool!

Thank you! Yeah I keep the pieces too! No we don't find the scotch bonnets here. I see the ones you guys find & they are beautiful! I would love to find one! We're wanting to take a trip to Florida to go shelling. We see you usually go to Sanibel ... have you been to any of the other beaches?

@@SaltyReflections It is really hard to find scotch bonnets in SWF. Usually only after storms! I go to different beaches too but Sanibel is usually where I find the most stuff and it is my most frequented area of beaches. I've been to the east coast of FL, they keys, panhandle of Florida and I have been beachcombing in New Zealand and Europe a while back! (Sadly that probably won't happen anytime soon again due to the pandemic but one day I'll hopefully return there.) But the Carolinas are still on my bucket list!

We've traveled to a few of the beaches along Florida's east & gulf coasts in the past but no major luck with shells...but that wasn't usually our focus either. So we are going to go target some shells next time! Oh my gosh, New Zealand -sounds really cool! I would love to find some horse conch like you have!

Where do you go shelling? What beach. I love doing this but have never found anything but the small shells on the beach that you see all the time. I go to the beach at different times of the day. I moved here a lil but ago. I joined the Shell club hoping they will go shell hunting as a group snd I can find some different kind. Thank you for this video . Love the sound of the wave.

Not really understanding why you're not finding anything. Keep looking in different areas. We spend tons of time out looking and those times don't even make for descent video. We'll keep looking for things to share with you all!

Great video! You know I always love the shelling videos! I believe the angel wings were the same, just a young one and an older one I tried to find it again on the video to see if the smaller one has an angled end, but didn't find it. If one end is angled, it would be a fallen angel wing like S from SWF says. BTW, a little farther north of Ft Meyers where Sanibel is, is Lido Key. After watching the SWF video on it and seeing a news clip about the dredging, I checked it out and have been back several times, even though it's a bit of a drive. It's totally worth it. Never disappoints. So if you go to FL, you might want to take a day and go up there. Make sure you watch her video. She does a great job of telling you where to go and park, etc. Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, fun! I hope yall have a great trip & make lots of Salty Reflections 🌊💭🥰 with the fam! I really have not shelled on HHI so I'm really not any help as far as where exactly. But I would recommend early in the morning & on low tide would be best bet to finding some goodies. This time of year is really tough in our area for shells since the beaches are so populated right now during the summer. Good luck! Happy Shelling! 🐚🌊👣🤞
