They should have just kept Pyecroft in every episode. He could always be off in some corner like a Shakespearean chorus, ready at every moment to say, "Now that's soldiering."

"I wouldn't want to be caught dead in the same grave as you." It took me a while but then it just clicked. Harper humor gold right there.

Oh man , Sharpes the best historical war series ever made...I have enjoyed EVERY episode .My dads got them all on dvd but I've watched them a few times. Its cool to wake up n watch it on YT ...well I dont normally as I'm usually moody in the morning but I had to watch Sharpes Mission cuz am buzzing after getting Mark Sty ( colonel Brands ) autograph yesterday and speaking to him. One of the worst baddies ever and lol he was a great guy really =)

Pyecroft is like the Meatloaf of the Napoleonic wars. Always talking about what is soldiering and very occasionally talking about what's *not* soldiering

What about you look him up on IMDb, there you'll find out that his name really is Strong, not Sty, he may have used Sty as a short version for Strong. So next time get your facts straight :P

What has always confused me... Why give the frech fort deserters bad powder? I'm sure that it would be a dead giveaway again if Shapre didn't clock the con on the road. And then the French officers proper squad turned up would have less real english holding the fort to deal with, even if it was by a few, making capturing Ross easier... Brand and that Frenchy were damn idiots at playing Ross's own spy/inteligence game
