Ever since I first saw this sat at the foot of my Dad's arm chair as a kid, that single guitar chord's sent chills up my spine. Sharpe n' Harper are about to march!

I love General Clavet and Gastogne his attache they are my favourite French characters of the series.

Calvet and Gastogne are the French equivalents of Sharpe and Harper. Calvet, in particular, is the best French character in the series.

I wholeheartedly agree. When I began watching the series, I was like "what the hell, an electric guitar?". Worst of all, this was right after I finished watching Hornblower lol. But it grows on you very nicely after a few episodes.

Hornblower was great, to my mind a better made series.

Gaston rules!!! One of my most favorate characters in all the Sharpe series combined!!

Whenever I hear the electric guitar I want it to go into the opening theme for something like Trigun or Dragon Ball Z

I use the Sharpe theme as an alarm clock now >.>

I'm sure these later episodes began to show more humour as the seiries went along, which is of course, a good thing!

And I saw John Tams at Warwick Folk Festival in '15. He did not disappoint.

I had the EXACT same response! At first I was like... "This is dumb!" and now I think its an awesome theme song!

The screenwriters forgot they needed him later on. :D

Cool and I am a big fan of the Sharpe series but Siege is my favorite book and I liked the film.

This shows story lines seem to have come directly from the a American tv series TOUR OF DUTY.

On one hand it's been 'many years' since Maquerre was home, so the defences of the castle could be weak, but on the other he claims intimate /current/ knowledge of Bordeaux's population. If it's not obvious by now he's a traitor then Monroe and Wellington are wilfully blind.

Who the hell would fight for a rag? You do Richard. You do. The winter is going to be long and cold. Time for another Sharpe fest I think.

Even if you've seen the film or all of them, may I suggest reading anyone of the whole series even not in historical order. You get a much deeper insight into the history and background + politics of the times, common soldiers comssioned officers and the historical heroes!I read them all and was pissed when there were no more left!

I recommend chronological order, starting with Sharpe's Tiger in India. That way the books make more sense.

@@RasMajnouni the films had a different target audience and purpose. Also nobody knew how popular the franchise would be so the budget was low. Plus they missed out books and combined others. Oh and the usual 'artistic licence' excuse.

@@julianmhall Yes! you are correct. Sean Bean always plays the same snide,cynical and mean character. It was the British attempt at what Mercans call :"Kiicking Ass". And the real story behind, in history the British truly loved to kick ass and steal international wealth too.

I like how the first frenchey on horse back got shot and fell before sharp even fired a round. My only problem with the acting in this show is how people fall when shot or stabbed, like in episode 3 when sharp shoots a French dragoon and he grabs his arm and falls off his horse dead like why the fuck did an arm shot kill him instantly and it's painfully obvious that every sword fight ends with the sword in between their arm and chest.

Ducos? HERE? WTF? Is that his brother? Oo

@2manynegativewaves - Must have been a 90's thing. If they had done the exact electric guitar part with orchestral strings, it would have been much more effective.
