The problem with retirement homes is that they’re super expensive and the ones that aren’t, are genuinely inhumane.

I worked at a senior home for 4 years. It was super expensive, yet it was pretty inhumane. I told some families it would be cheaper to move their parent home and hire in-home care if they could. Less staff in and out, and you can put up your own cameras and stuff. I know its not an option for everyone though.

Yeah, I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to any nursing home, good or bad, especially not long-term. Most of the CNA’s don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves. At the nursing home I work at, they sit on their phones all day and smoke weed for an hour. I hear all the time from residents that their call light was on for hours without any response, including when they’ve soiled themselves.

We put my grandfather into multiple assisted living homes and they were absolute nightmares. One home had a lady with dementia wandering around and made her way into my crippled grandfather’s room and he couldn’t move away from her. After like 3 places we said no he’s living with us. It was absolutely exhausting but at least we weren’t worried if he was going to get the care he needed

Same. I love idea of using retirement money to pay someone to care for me BUT unfortunately there is SO much bad. Yeah but grandparents be like ancient and out of date and say offensive things. Theres countless reasons I will do everything in my power to NEVER live with my mother again. She is just to judgemental with no selfawareness. If she could laugh at herself without it triggering a crying fest. It would be a higher chance. However maybe instead of a home id convert hers into a better facility for her care and help her find a carer or find someone in her life willing to be her career thats trustworthy. Cultrually if the elderly could like keep their mouth closed and not be so boomerish I might be down. Like if you got those dope parents that like let you go to peoples houses without doing a background check and 2 months at least of mcdonlads public play dates yeah it might not be as bad for you. But my weeaboo larping giga nerd of a mother. Can go fuck herself. I am not gonna ever let her warp my kids like she warped me. She tried her best. BUt holy fuck. THe way she talks about my grandkids when they aren't born? But my whole life has been defined by living with my fucking grandparents. When i got roasted for wearing shit clothes but living in a certain area cause it was 5 people. Its weird. YOu live in the limbo poverty shaming zone where the rich shit on you and the truly povertus shit on you. NOt only that but mine were Salvation Army weds. They met in that orgniazation that puts the santas out. They are insanely Christian. I couldnt watch scooby mother fucking DO, because it once said "not all witches are bad" in a like 1 minute scene on this one saturday and you could see the steam out of my weak fat 5'8 grandfather like hes gonna do something. Like god, what i would give to run my grandpas fade in the 70s. Like they talk about old man strength, Where they buy that at? my grandpa def didn't have that shit. But i after a living a life with my wack as parents and grandparents. There is so much that changes with those elements in a house. NO matter whos house it is, if they are grandparents present people expect things to be theirs not yours. They expect to control things, revert back to being the parent and conflict your instruction on the kids, they doubt your choices, and constantly undermine you. There is so much about modern life, modern fashion that boomers cant phyiscally handle. I just want my kids to play the music they like without being told to shut up. I want them to wear shit they like to wear without a stupid fucking comment. I read somewhere doing research for my class, and Apparently some places in europe argue that if we change to genreational households, there will be more housing available, and better family units. It makes me throw up thinking about that. We cant let that happen. Get your own fucking life. Let them fuck around and find out. Remember all that annoying shit they told you when you needed help. DO not be the better person in that relationship. THEY ARE YOUR PARENTS LMAO. BE THE ASSHOLE KID YOU DESERVE TO BE.

In response to the cemetery or compost comment; dead bodies in cemeteries are filled with embalming fluids which help to preserve the body. These fluids are extremely toxic, such as formaldehyde. The coffins are also meant to protect the body and take more than a lifetime to deteriorate and use up alot of space. Composting dead bodies is leaving the body to naturally decompose, if it is in a coffin it would be biodegradable. Hope this helps :)

Composting a body can be done a few ways: just putting a body into the ground, melting in down to liquid and used as fertilizer/ to feed an animals, etc. It’s actually very good for the environment. You can also use a hydro-pressure in some areas to make your body into essentially human soup and use to to grow trees, etc. Very interesting stuff.

Completely disagree with 1:32 about being too cold is "better". First off this is not an unpopular opinion, most people I know hate the heat and love the cold, I see it online too. Liking warm weather is an unpopular opinion, I don't know many people who like the summer. Personally for me, I hate the cold, I can wear 20 jackets and still be freezing, not to mention you can't do anything to warm your face when out. I will take the heat any day, 80-90 degrees F is not something that bothers me, I like it. Anything 60F and below is too cold for me. I have a theory that people who like the cold have warmer bodies and people who hate the cold have colder bodies. Also cranberry sauce is delicious, I like candy corn too.

Disney spent 100 years making billions of dollars off of rebranding other people's ideas. Look up any successful Disney movie. 10 times out of 10, the story was based on someone else's novel, or nursery rhyme. Or it was a remake of someone else's movie. The fact that they have an Imagination department is hillarious. All they do is steal ideas!

The reason for the hatred of nursing homes is because they're horrible places. My grandmother was in a home for a month. She was 95 with dementia. They got her meds wrong 9 times in a week, one time they were random meds out of the cart, fed her garbage that she couldn't even eat because it was so burnt it couldnt even be cut, and the neglect is rampant. She had to go to the hospital in an ambulance because they let her get dehydrated. She was covered in bedsores and was pretty much abandoned in her room. She was bathed twice in the month she was there. Nobody visited her except my mother and I, and that was to make sure the staff did what they get paid $50/h for. We ended taking her back home so that she could pass in comfort. Her husband was in one in the 70s. He peed himself and the staff left him in the pissed-in chair for three days. Nursing home staff doesn't care about the patients.
