Sewing Tutorial: How To Make A Notebook Cover With Pockets

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Want to try a quick and easy project? Make this journal or notebook cover with me! This is a perfect project for any beginner ready to take their skills to the next level.
The exterior cover is divided into three separate panels so you can have fun mixing different fabrics. Inside the cover, you will find a small patch pocket, perfect to hold a spare pen or pencil, and a larger zipper pocket on the back. You can also add a snap closure to keep everything secured.
To complete this project you will need to draft your own pattern. This is the best solution if you want to create a cover that fits perfectly YOUR own notebook/journal because we know they come in different shapes and sizes! But don't worry, I have a super easy tutorial on my blog that shows you exactly what to do! ✏📐

    A great tutorial, thank you so much! Flipping the cover panels over instead of just putting them on top or beneath the pink back is a great inspiration. I do not have a sewing machine and am probably doing my cover out of paper, but still I will probably apply this by giving them a small fold, instead of just gluing them flat on the top and therefor having that sharp edge.

    Would probably take ages, but I wonder if I could do this by hand-sewing as I don’t have a machine. The store bought ones aren’t my style. Would cardstock that’s not too thick work for reinforcing everything?

  • @allsewpetite

    @allsewpetite

    If your fabric is very thin, then I would interface it with some woven interfacing. There is no need to add cardstock unless you really want the structure.

    @@allsewpetite sounds like a good idea as the fabric I want to use for my lining is a bit thin. The leather is a bit thicker.
