    Now, if only my sewing teachers at school presented in the clear and calm manner that you did I may have progressed beyond where my sewing skills are at now! I've subscribed and am going to spend some time looking at your other videos. PS my sewing skills are ok, but could always do with some guidance such as I have just seen. I thoroughly enjoyed this...thank you.

    All my videos are in playlist, so machine, canvas, shaped cards, beginners etc. The worst you can do is cut through your mat, and then just tape it up on the back with brown parcel tape. we've all done that you will see in some of my videos im still using a mat i got with my original machine thats 4 yrs old and all taped up on the back. have fun

    Hi Ashley, I loved your video. I made one right after watching the tutorial. I have one question. What would prevent the wadding from balling up if the cover is laundered? If the wadding is not actually being sewing down in the 1/4" seam?

  • @applelover53

    @applelover53

    7 жыл бұрын

    You could add some quilting lines if you want more security, or add an extra stitch line all around the edge, for decoration and to hold the wadding in place. To be honest I was thinking about the covered being washed, but totally understand what you are saying.

    Great tutorial, thanks! I'm making a padded book cover for my friend's daughter and was confused by some of the tutorials I've seen, but yours is very clear. I was thinking of doing some quilting lines, in which case the batting would need to be attached to the outer fabric. In that case I'm debating how to lay out the pieces for stitching. I think it is the same except the batting will be on the top rather than the bottom. Is that right?

    Not sure if you'll see this, 4 yrs down the road, but 1st: Excellent tutorial! 2nd: how did you sew the strips together for the outer cover (all the purple prints)? They seem to be like a Venetian blind, over lapping lol. Do you have a video for that part? Thanks so much! :)

    I'd like to cover my kids Bibles they are both different sizes. Can you tell the names of the underneath materials you used and how much bigger than the book you cut the material and what seem allowance you sewed it at? I'm new to sewing! Thanks

  • @applelover53

    That project was made some time ago and was a gift so I have no idea how much bigger than the book it was. I think I would have mentioned something about it in the video. I think it was a standard size A5 (UK) notebook. I’m not sure what you mean by underneath materials, I think it would have either had wadding/batting or a fabric interfacing but again I am sure I would have said in the video. Thanks

    No its held in place with spray adhesive and by the time its been stitched all round, turned right side out and top stitched its not going anywhere, that video is 7yrs old and the person i gifted it to, still uses it.
