I'm a year late, and I'm not in the marines or anything (thank you for any marine out there for your service) but what caught my attention the most in this video, was your shirt. I have epilepsy myself and not many people spread awareness about it, so thank you for that. means a lot!

I went through Parris Island boot camp in 1985. We were actually issued stamps, USMC writing pad and envelopes to write home with. We had to write a letter home to let our families know we made it to boot camp okay back then. Not make a phone call like they do today.

Hey, my son is in his 4th week of boot camp in San Diego, he recently asked for proteins bars. How often should i send them and how many at a time? i don't want him to get in trouble.

  • @claytonfilpo

First: thank you for supporting your son, and I thank him for his service. Do your son a big favor and don't send them. If he gets caught, it'll just be a bad time for him. He knows he's not supposed to have them and if you send a package, the Drill Instructor will check it.

Hi I was just going to ask you about my concern and I don't know if you experienced this or other people did too. So basically I've been writing him letters everyday, he received 9 of my letters from (May 3rd - May 9th) then he stopped receiving my letters from May 10th up to now (May 26th), but I'm 100% sure that the address was correct because he received 9 of my letters the first week that he was there. He was able to received letters from his parents but not from me and I'm a bit concerned about it. I also talked to the post office and they told me that they've been sending letters as long as there's a stamp on it (which I have put in every envelope I sent) so I don't know what's going on because I just received a letter from him yesterday that he only received letters from me last May 3rd up to May 9th then the rest of my letters after that he didnt receive. I hope you can help me. :)

If you're really concerned, I'd have a parent call the public affairs office on the depot (San diego is: (619) 524-8724 Parris Island is: 843-228-3650) Mail is one of the only things they are guaranteed to be able to send and receive. So if he's not getting it, there's a problem somewhere along the lines of you sending it and him getting it. Not much else I can tell you other than that.

I'm a senior in high school and I leave August 8th. I'm scared. the girl whom I was with for two years left me December. I'm hurt because all my life I've been left and I've left girls but this one, this one hurt me. I know now she likes someone else. And she's not the type of girl that is a hoe. She's different. I'm leaving for the marines, but I feel like it's going to be hard. Should I let her go or should I try and fight for her. It's going to be hard to let her go.

  • @claytonfilpo

Up to you man. But if your relationship isn't strong before you leave, you might be better off letting go. Remember, you'll be gone for months, even years at a time. Long distance sucks, especially with trust issues.

@@claytonfilpo I thought they said to come with just the clothes on your back. They didn't say to bring stamps and envelopes/pens with you, when you go into boot camp. You go shopping for all your supplies, while there, don't you? As for writing to your love ones while in boot camp. I hear you get a form letter first (not from your love one), then they start writing after you get that letter. I think it takes 3 to 4 weeks for your love one to write to you. Is this right?
