SELFMADE Potato planter?!

Hey to everyone!!
We are two young adults, Despina 24 and Deivids 25 renovating an old farm house from 1817 in Latvia.
Everything in and out of our house has been done by ourselves with no hired help.
DIY is going to apply to nearly everything in our house. Our budget is tight and that has made us appreciate every “ugly” part of this house and turn it into something new and beautiful.
We give new life to things that others would throw away!
In this journey we are not alone! We are starting up our little Farmily:
7 Goats & 2 Bucks
3 Sheep
4 chickens & 3 Chicks
1 Rooster
and 3 Geese
Oh yeah and our cat Ivi & Dog Keita
Despite our daily problems we are two young people full of joy and happiness, ready to start a new crazy chapter in our life. It wouldn’t be fair to keep this fun just for us!
That’s why we want YOU to also be part of our Farmily!!
We love our very supportive community!!
Thank you so much for the support you are giving us. Every view, like, share, subscribe and financial support means a lot to us. Any support is extremely appreciated!

you should cut the potatoes in half, because you are wasting so much that is not needed. As long as you have a couple eyes in each and a half potato for allowing the potato to grow the plant is more than enough.

Hey! Greetings from Estonia! Put potatos by hand between the rows you made, and then drive on top of the rows with tractor and drag the soil back over the potatos with the same implement you made the rows. I hope you understood- this method is common in estonia. If you have questions I am happy to answer them!

You young ones are so amusing, inspirational and such go getters, I love your enthusiasm for everything you do!! In a modern World where often young people are so over whelmed with life in general, you sure are inspirational. Cheers from NZ 😊 OH!! and by the way!! YOUR POTATO PLANTER DID WORK!! With a few improvements it would be PERFECT!! especially given how you built it from bits and pieces, WELL DONE!!

We cut the potatoes and leave at least two eyes. Let the cut potatoes form a rough surface, maybe overnight will be ok, than plant

in the great depression...so I am told, people ate the potatoes and planted the peelings...with eyes naturally...otherwise , like you say, cut the potato in quarters or halves and leave two eyes..

Your homemade machine will work. The soil is to course. Rotavate/till the soil so it is much finer and level, then your machine will sit level, create a furrow and cover. Great simple design.

Nice try but unfortunately it not this time, but like you said David to fast and to short off time to build a proper one. But the next winter you maybe have more time to think and rethink your plan for this machine and at the end you will come up with something that do work ! Love to see you creative thinking and what your eyes see your hands are making. Hopefully the potatoes will grow very well this year, and the harvest will be great !! See the both off you on the next video !

Some times it is cheaper and easier just to buy an old model potato planter, that maybe needs a little repairing, rather than invent the wheel each time.

Hey y'all 👋 doing a amazing job .. just a tip 😉🤗 cut the potatoes 🥔 where the eye are starting to come out. Planting a whole one take a lot longer and a lot more . U could cut one in 3 pieces and that 3 plants . Just saying . And to fight off the mosquitoes 🦟 and other bitting bugs .... Get u a spray bottle and mix witch hazel with some rosemary oil spray on before u go out and u can use it on the dog🐕 ,cat 🐈 and the goal's🐐 sheep 🐑 too . Don't know if uno . But mosquitoes 🦟 and flys 🪰 can cause heart worms 🪱 and other worms 🪱 as well in the Dog 🐕 and cat 🐈 just letting uno so can stay safe and healthy 😊🤙😁🤗💙 Y'all have a Blessed Day and week stay safe, stay healthy, stay positive always make it fun Love from Tucson Arizona 💗🦎🌵🌻🦉👩‍🌾🌵🦎💗🙏

Idk how to break it to you, but when you live in countryside and you have neighbors. Neighbors help you and you help them. If you didn't got potato planter construction and build it winter/spring, just plant it by hand and deal with it. You don't don't have that many potatoes to work up about it anyway.

  • @Hollybank5
    @Hollybank5 Жыл бұрын

I’m sorry that it didn’t work the way you wanted it to. Inventions usually have many design changes along the way . Have you considered asking your neighbors if they would like to buy the potato planter machine WITH you . Each pay half and both use it . Then every year you help each other with planting and harvesting . And maintenance. Afterwords, enjoy a dinner celebration together !!
