I am so amazed that the two of you can do so much. I have a suggestion for the old porch. Make it screened in but make sure you have windows that can go over them in the winter. With the shade you get in the latter part of the day it would make a nice area away from the bugs, to enjoy a glass of wine or something fruity and in the winter, if heated, you can sit and enjoy looking at the snow with a nice hot toddy or cuppa hot chocolate. Maybe even get a electric fireplace to stick in it for ambiance and to keep it warm.

With modern European windows like they've got in the main part of the house you can have permanent screens and just need to open the windows during summer.
Good for you two…doing these renovations now. You’ll really enjoy the differences that will give you a big uplift.
Looking forward to seeing how you renovate this room.
Dusty job! You two are some of the hardest working young people I have ever seen.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. The work I’ve watched you two do over the years is amazing. I’ll never throw anything away again. Devid the work you and your wife Dessy do is incredible.
That back area would be perfect for a herb/flower garden! Then you would have something to enjoy while sitting in your new room!

Agreed! With the beautiful fence one on side and the woodland on the other - an ideal location for plants that want dappled shade and moisture :)
I'm glad you decided to work on the "bad" part of the house.
Schöne neue Arbeitsschuhe Tip top 😅
Back when you had the chickens there I was thinking it would make a nice conservatory and surprise! That’s what you’re making😊 Potted plants would do very well there in the colder months.
it will be an enjoyable quiet spot! i do like those old windows and door. Of course I don't know the condition. You have wonderful ideas and accomplish so much.
This space was built as a three season sun room. If you restore the door opening into your living space with a mostly glass door - this space will be a beautiful addition. The wooden blocks are built into the masonry because they are used by the carpenters as nailing blocks (sleepers). If you look - they are next to door and window frames (wood millwork). Apply a wire mesh to the wood block and render overtop. They will last another 100 years.

@@brandyjean7015 Thank you Brandy. Do you think they may consider what an old man has to say who did this kind of work his whole career? Or will they just think "shut up old man and die"?

Hi Steve. Like Brandy said, good advice and yes, they read the comments and listen to what their commenters have to say. With age brings wisdom and knowledge. 🥰

Oh my, I just started watching this video. I am very excited to watch it to see what you do with that little room. I think it will be really cool when you are finished.
There is nothing you two can’t do! What an amazing homestead you’re creating!! LOVE your channel! 🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You can make the entire back façade look like new by patching up the render with fresh lime render (places that have failed, eroded and around the window openings. Applying several fresh coats of lime plaster paint (lime wash white) and the entire façade will look GREAT! Lime wash over render is super durable and lets the structure 'breath' moisture. Never replace render with wood (a maintenance nightmare). If you want to stop the frost heaving of the slab, dig a narrow trench 3 feet (90cm) deep and install a vertical piece of 2 inch (5cm)thick insulation board. Backfill with gravel, install gutters and pipe the water away from the foundation. Use expanded polystyrene board. It will not wick or hold water. ANd your sunroom will no longer heave with the frost! :) Good manure for your compost pile or spread around and under the canopy of your fruit trees, or spread on a goat pasture that needs the fertilizer now. I really like your compost pile and ramp next to the chicken coop Dessy! Just cut out an opening in the fence so the chickens can get in to scratch. They will really enjoy scratching for bugs. It is like going to the amusement park =D
That was great David and Dessey great demo and clean up can't wait to see what you do with it
I love that you are keeping it! Just make sure, right from the start, you can use it in the winter too. I think you will enjoy that. Maybe with a small fire?
You could let the goats in behind the house during the day to get the grass down for you. Love your work, so much progress during this summer for you, very pleased for you. Can’t wait to see the new guest house done
Awesome progress. Rock on, you two are really moving and grooving!
Amazed by you two & your work ethic to make your home your Happy Place!!!
Oh, man. You guys are going to need a BIG burn pile for all that poopy mess. Stay hydrated! Hugs from Maine, USA.
Time for a long shower! You deserve one.
I am really looking forward to seeing this renovation project. I hope you can use it summer and winter with a cute little flower/herb garden close by. Some plants that like a little shade/ a little sun 🌞 🇨🇦
Wow, that reminded me of when you renovated the House. What a huge difference👍👍Great improvement. 🙏🙏
Lots of work but it's going to look so good when you're done with it!
Could use the area as a greenhouse but i remember you said you already have plans. Cant wait too see the progress!
oooh i felt like a needed a respirator just watching this. great work
I could be wrong but looks like you started a composting pile if so good for you. You should add all the grass/weeds that you just Weed whacked. Think you can add the goat poop also.
awesome , rest when you can hugsx
You should make a screened porch. It would be a nice place to relax in the summer.
I bet the shower after that project was wonderful!
Looking forward to seeing your magic on this cool space. Another great project!
omg how did they sleep with the roosters so close ? roosters start crowing at 4 or 5 am ...goodness

Ι ( Despinas mom) slept in the bedroom close to this little room . Because they isolated the door very well and the windows are double-glass, it wasn't as loud as you believed.... I got used to it somehow, and back in Athens, I missed it a bit.❤ 😂
Great idea !!!!
Ooh I can’t wait to see this change
תודה ❤❤❤
Hard work! Thankful you have a mask on. Love you both. 🌹
So many improvements !!! This is going to give you such a nice useable space !! Screened in away from the bugs , with windows for the winter months? You two are awesome 😎 ❤❤
Wow. Another BIG project. How do you do it?
Another interesting project!
Are you going to run electricity in there? It would be awesome if you put a ceiling fan with a light 😊
🎉 great job 👏 again. I love watching everything you do. ❤️ incrediblejust incredible.
I don’t see how yall can take on so many projects and finish them, but youth does have its advantages.
You both work really hard great job
You should definitely make that your new rumpus room 😉

I think that it would have been nice if you had started this video showing off the last project of the finished dormer, and then showing the next project that you are now able to work on. But I can say that I like the progress that you are making 😊
All good
Please do not demolish the walls. That would be a waste of your time, energy and you would be destroying a valuable part of your home. It has excellent bones to repair and reuse. Do the floor and ceiling and leave the walls and jambs as is with a couple of coats of white lime wash paint. If you want to vault the ceiling - fine. Add additional rafters and frame the roof for two skylights. Then add any additional rafters required to reinforce the roof. Also, the ceiling height will rise when the floor gets dropped to 4" above the dirt. Put vapor barrier and 2" expanded polystyrene insulation under the slab as described elsewhere, Insulate the ceiling and install planed tongue and groove wood with a big ceiling fan in the middle of the room. A skylight on each side. Open the doorway to the main house with the salvage door on hand. Install gutters and pipe water away from foundation. With no doors and windows you have a lovely outdoor sitting room. If you have bugs at night, put screens on the windows and install a cheap screen door. Come back when you have the time and money to install proper windows like you used in the house and a matching door.
David needs to protect his eyes as well as lungs. Glasses next time please dear friend?
😊
Cld be a nice glassed studio?
I feel so sorry for you guys working in the heat in an old poopy chicken coop
🌟👏👍🍀💐
Lol I keep holding my breath because of the dust.
Būs forša verandiņa.
Guys, you have started a lot of projects but winter will come fast, you should really try and finish some of them instead of leaving them half done, eg the goat barn, a great building but it needs to be plastered or it will fall apart with your severe winters, I love you guys and never miss a video but I guess I worry that you will be left with a load of projects and snow everywhere
U could Build an "American" roof porch....
Why not make the area into an office or small guest room. Roof and foundations at 50% of another room. Just a thought
construction helmet required.
That could be a bathroom if insulation is addrd
Should have worn a mask.
