I definitely think that the facebook group has helped a lot of us in this area. Even though I can’t participate in the monthly zoom meetings as much as I would like to because of my job, I do express a lot on Facebook and here, and writing things down and having my brothers’ support has been a true blessing. Thanks for everything you do for us, you’re amazing.

Matt, you summed up today’s topic so beautifully at the intro! I like your concepts of revealing oneself to another based upon the other’s having earned one’s trust. The other notion of attracting others when one reveals himself is very refreshing. Another notion you discussed about the degree of sharing seems very sensible. Boundaries are needed there IMHO. Some would say that this borders on one’s integrity, which I’ve once read is best protected over all else. Like Michael, I thought this episode was primarily about coming out before I started listening to it. The notion of revealing would seem to be implying a sort of coming out to a degree.

I find that my inner critic loses its voice when I acknowledge self-compassion, validate my self efficacy skills and celebrate my vulnerabilities. To quote Matt from previous podcasts “Look & Linger” and acknowledge. Keep yo the great work. Brian 🇨🇦

Hi Brian 🇨🇦, thanks for sharing your insight! It's incredible how acknowledging self-compassion, validating our skills, and embracing vulnerabilities can silence that inner critic. Matt's wisdom from "Look & Linger" truly resonates here. Keep nurturing that positive self-dialogue-it's a powerful journey towards growth and self-empowerment. We appreciate your support! 🙌

The dreaded vulnerability hangover! Glad it doesn't happen until later, when it's too late to unsay certain things. Or else it just wouldn't happen.

have to be perfectly frank with you, sometimes my self disclosure, while not entirely without genuine feeling, is oftentimes a way for me to filter out people who are just assholes. Sometimes better to know at the beginning when you meet someone intimately. It even feels a little shitty to tell someone, "look I'm not having a good day because of x,y,z" but if people are willing to listen then you already know they are a good person. but if they just talk over you and give you some bullshit then not, guess it depends

Thanks for sharing your perspective! It's brave to be open about our struggles, and you're right, it can serve as a filter for finding genuine connections. It's important to surround ourselves with people who truly listen and support us. Remember, you deserve understanding and empathy. Keep staying true to yourself!🤩

Around 25% of autistic individuals identify as LGBT, likely because we don't give a fuck what people think of us. There is considerable crossover and intersectionality between neurodivergent and LGBT communities. We often feel double or triple ostracized and unwelcome in society. It's seen as "worse" than being just gay or just autistic. Can you do an episode or interview sometime focusing on this?

Thank you for sharing this important perspective. The intersectionality between the neurodivergent and LGBT communities is indeed significant and deserves more attention. We'll definitely consider doing an episode or interview focusing on this topic. Your input is invaluable, and we appreciate your suggestion!💞
