The scene with G'iah and Fury's wife in the house was VERY John Wick!

The last 30 seconds of the episode honestly did not have to go that hard. Fury putting on his eye patch and coat felt like he was coming out of retirement. Plus, the main theme of the show ending of the episode was really nice.

Don Cheadle and Samuel Jackson's scenes together are genuinely some of the most compelling in the show. Of course Olivia Coleman is brilliant too. This show is full of some great performances tbh

I think the president heard Fury and is going to not trust "Rhodey" at all in this. It'll be interesting to see in the next episode who the president chooses to trust, but I don't think he's going to distrust Fury here.

Olivia Colman sure does not flinch when faced with danger. Damn, she is a great actress. This episode was better than episode 4 because of her being in this one. Hopefully, she appears as Sonya in other MCU projects. I could see her come back in Cap 4 or Thunderbolts.

​@@ComandoPadentrobut she isn't actually shown on screen. It's a flashback/footage thing. She hasn't done any extra scenes so it's kind of confusing. In Loki, when Loki was seeing flashbacks of his history and showed a scene from Avengers, they didn't credit every single Avenger actor. They didn't actually credit any.

I've said before that the Skrulls in the MCU are the most interesting the skrulls have been for me in the longest time, and tbh, I feel like this episode makes me feel that way even more. I also wasn't expecting Gravik to be such a compelling villain tbh. This is shaping up to be one of my personal favorite Marvel shows too, again, something I wasn't really expecting to say

At least I finally got an adequate reason why a a villain so bloodthirsty keeps sparing Nick.

Something that I liked more this episode for a good reason and that is. It shows Gravik being a rather treacherous and intimidating leader. Olivia's character fills, always looking for easy ways to be able to have what she wants. G'iah and Priscilia together coming together and knowing what great figures inspired them to do the right thing. And fury coming out to redo the relentless Nick Fury we know for his confrontation with Gravick!!!

2:28 he calls him G cause Gravik its that guys nickname for him, and he's been calling that ever since the beginning of the show.

I have been worried these past few weeks when I see the run times of the episodes, but man they have still been great! I did think this one was a little more fast paced, but I was loving everything especially the ending! Can't wait for next week!!

This is probably my favourite episode so far, I love how violent they are getting, and I actually think this episode has the best shots of the series yet. So excited for the finale

I feel as if the expectation that the tv shows will hold more weight in the narrative overall is a problem. The TV shows for me are side stories so I don’t necessarily feel the same sense of disappointment you have. Agree this was a set up episode for the finale to put Fury and Gravik up

If I expect the taco but I get a burrito instead, I don't just settle for the burrito, I start to think that something is wrong and if it persists and applies to everyone who ordered the taco then that is the COMPANY'S fault and not the consumer's fault for simply expecting the thing that was advertised. Secondly, in no way are all of these series just side stories. It's essential to watch WandaVision to understand how she has kids and is confident enough to be the Scarlet Witch in Multiverse of Madness. Loki's finale gives context for the entire saga. Two of the main characters in The Marvels come from Disney+ shows. The new Captain America movie is a direct continuation of Falcon and Winter Soldier. Secret Wars shares half of the same damn name as Secret Invasion so it would be insane to think these two titles aren't heavily linked to each other. If Marvel are false advertising, then the shows would not link this heavily to the movies, AND I don't think there would be this much effort put into the shows if they were just side stories. When the next Avengers comes out (or even a smaller project like Thunderbolts) and it's full of people that no one knows unless they watched the Disney+ shows, then are you still gonna feel like these are side stories?

Skrulls usually can be the person they imitate down to their atoms if it's with the machine they kidnapped people for... but all I have seen from the machine in this series is memory taking, so I won't put them into similar range of abilities.

They always seem to have predetermined saltiness around 4 & 5 of ever series. It’s like chicken or the egg; are the shows really all getting bad at that point, or are all of this at chair crit shows self-fulfilling the need to bash based on their own expectations being wasted? This comment section is not agreeing with them, which says a lot. Not bashing the Rejects, I obviously watch heavily. But once Greg gets salty, it’s like everyone is afraid to disagree with him. For instance, Coy is hyper opinionated and even confrontational on every other show he guests on, but seems neutered on this show.

Listening to you guys try to talk positively about this show is hilarious….. Told ya. 😂

I've been saying this for a long time now with the Disney Plus shows. I believe they have to start dropping these shows episodes all at once. The week to week model cannot last if we're only getting half hour episodes that don't do a whole lot. The first couple episodes were fantastic, the last few episodes (which have all been short half hour episodes, feels like they all should've just been combined into one. The days of Wandavision are gone. We all tuned in week to week to geek out about the endless possibilities that could happen in next week's episode...and none of that ever really panned out. The jig is up. We all know now that the MCU isn't going to do anything that important on one of their shows, so just drop all the episodes at once and let audiences take it all in at their own pace. All the issues with run times / filler episodes goes out the window / gets less prominent.

What I don't understand is how this show is 6 episodes, whereas a show like She Hulk is 9 episodes. I just do not get the reasoning behind it. Overall, so far, I am really enjoying Secret Invasion. Hopefully it ends well. 😂

The reasoning is that since that show was modelled on a somewhat typical 30-min legal comedy episodic format, roughly the same quantity of recorded material would be broken up differently. The episode count never matters as much as the episode length, ultimately.

Two very different genres. If Secret Invasions story was told over 9 episodes it might feel a little slow or stretched out, whereas She Hulk is more episodic, so pacing between episodes isn’t really an issue.

Olivia Colman as Sonya was truly my favourite part of this series. She’s freaking delightful

dropped off massively when you look back at episode 1, the tension and the paranoia was real, the intensity was high now its fallen off. we are on the brink of world war 3 yet i dont feel like theres any stakes

I don't know why I keep imagining that this show is just gonna end with a shot of Gravik taking a knee, turning around, and then we see that he's Chris Evans lmfao. And then the show just cuts to credits lol

The mention of the full body Widow's Veil will definitely mean a reveal in the last episode, but who? Fury not Fury or Hill has been Fury all along (not hoping for this one) or something similar?

Still really doesn’t feel like Talos died man. Even if he comes back as a surprise in episode 6 for whatever reason, I wouldn’t even be surprised, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if he didn’t either. They somehow managed to make what is an important character and give him such a mediocre and, in my opinion, unfitting death.

I think KZread shows are concerned with the hits they got during peak Marvel ie Endgame and thats why they want bigger things than the fan. If the Hulk showed up to smash Gravik it would rise up the hits, but not the quality

Wish we had more time with talos and his daughter to indear us more with the characters.

it is an absolute crime that all we got was two scenes between talos and giah killing talos was the worst decision this show made

Probably the best show since Loki.

I'm happy that some of the Skrulls TRIED to revolt... ofc if they succeeded, we wouldn't have a final episode lol

These shows are so frustrating. It really does feel like they give us both barrels at the the first two episodes then as the episodes go along, it just seems to run out of steam. I commented at the end of last week's episode that they are also getting progressively shorter. First episode is the longest then the runtimes drop with every week. If the story was hitting as hgard then it wouldn't be so noticeable but it is. the standout to me is Olivia Coleman's character. she is coming off like Marvel's British version of Amanda Waller and I love it. More of her in the MCU please.

I really dig that the Brits have had their own “Fury” all along in Falsworth! The deeper implications of that, and the fact that Fury respects and reveres her so much says tons! THAT’S a show right there, and it has no baggage, so it would be fresh content, like Mando was to Star Wars.

According to a report, the budget ballooned to being $212 million with extensive reshoots. It doesn’t look like a show that cost that much and supposedly the original scripts were great where I’m not nearly as invested now.

i hope so but its been rare with marvel shows, i think the only shows that truly stuck the landing was what if, ms marvel and wandvision, this show could to tho

Nick Furys mission is furious vengeance upon the Skrulls lead by Gravik. The tease of Super Skrull Hulk in the trailer looked good. I want to see that whole now for the finale of Secret Invasion. This is the precursor to Superskrull which the F4 will face somewhere down the line. The highlights were seeing Varra and Giah kicking ass against the other Skrull operatives. I think if they had released it as a 6 hour film as a whole it would be even more engaging. I just feel for 6 episodes waiting week after week is kind of stupid lol.

For me this would have actually worked better if it was a 2 hour 30-40 minute movie because all of these plot lines actually would have worked much better as movie than a tv series. For me where tv truly outshines movies are when you explore a character thoroughly, thus far the show has a lot of twists but exploration of why should we care is missing.

Something I noticed was during the giha/Priscilla fight scene the bad guys had red blood. Like it seemed like all of them.

Nah I'm with Nick. The Avenegers are trash. They can fight a more powerful enemy, but they aren't as capable as Nick in fighting in the shadows. The Avengers are just good at blowing things up and killing thousands of people in the process , regardless of the lies the movie tells you that only a few dozens died.

The episode was really exciting and humorous at times. I do agree about the times of the last 3 episodes. Seems like it's more to explain in those last 3 episodes. Overall, really enjoyed this episode and the series so far.

Secret Invasion was filmed late 2021 to Spring 2022. This show was affected by the Pandemic so some of the sparseness could become of that.(Hospital scene screams a side effect of Omacron.) Does this show have the continual pressure of wrapping up a lot of story threads in the final episode? Yes. I do like the spy craft story with a serious tone. A 40 minute or less runtime could be a big problem with how this series ends. Fingers crossed it’s one of the best MCU shows to date.

Yup, you guys basically summed up my feelings for this show. Great start, but it's being carried at this point by the fact that every actor is such a high caliber that they will elevate whatever they're given. In terms of Fury not calling the avengers to help - it's a thin line between making a character fallible, and just making them seem self involved and stubborn and i'm not sure they landed that balance this ep. Fingers crossed for a strong finale!

The best things for me about all of the Marvel Disney + shows are the deep character dives of these characters not in the original 6 Avengers. Unlike many comic book fans who want this story to be bigger, I've loved as you discussed, the 2 person well-acted scenes. But this week, to not have Fury tell G'iah in that scene something like, "I am so sorry G'iah. Your dad was my best friend for 30 years and I loved him.." is a huge missed opportunity. Fury has been more vulnerable than we've ever seen him and this scene was so lacking. It's an easy fix and one line, but one that would have packed a punch and made me feel better about the whole episode. As you said, the action scenes were well shot.. this addition would have grounded the episode I think, in a much deeper way.

I get Nick not wanting to bring in the avengers. They are walking talking nukes that tend to produce a lot of collateral damage. We can't call mom to get us out of every conflict. Especially, when you're talking about world leaders and the skrulls don't seem that hard to kill yet. The avengers are the hammer and this needs more precision.
