About the AI intro : having a fiancé as an artist and working on these IP, he has been vocal and we've been discussing the pain point of how it just samples and steals from the artists. Now with regard to the opening sequence : 1. This was developed before the painful AI conversion hit the fan 2. It was a device used to characterize how the Skrulls simulate us, as much as AI simulate artists and their work (and YES, even my fiancé was hit with this) 3. The Artists who were commissioned, GAVE consent for their work and used it as a TOOL to illustrate the essence and unease of this story. It was a 1 to 1 if you ask us. How AI steals the "face" of an artists work - skrulls coping shells How AI copies the technique whilst leaving unnatural hints (8 fingers, multiple arms - fiancé s art got 2 mouths as per AI) : Skrulls take your thoughts and memories and brain patterns, but still not the person in their unexpected choices It was meant to be uneasy. Meant to be unsettling, don't shoot Disney for making a deliberate and CAREFUL choice and including the artist and their consent for their work. Don't shoot the messenger giving the perspective that should initiate the discussion. Just a perspective, and love your reaction to this mind blowing episode. Cheers!

if that's all real then I think that this is a well done way to ethically do ai. i'm hoping it's true bc i put a fair amount of faith into marvel bc i love it but also they are a corporation so i wouldn't be surprised. i still understand why people would be against it - having any sort of ai that doesn't just help repeat patterns like into the spiderverse can become a very thin line especially when there's evidence of artists losing work because of ai. but like i said i'm holding out hope to find more articles/sources that say what you're saying because that sounds just fine

Thank you for this insight. I'm an artist too but was dismayed to see how everyone automatically jumped on the "boycott the show" train on Twitter--I had a feeling the credits were designed exactly as you described. But I can also understand people who say it may set a bad precedent. It's definitely a shaky topic to be sure.

If it's used fairly and openly, fine. I don't like it, but I won't make those choices for others. That said, I wish to offer some solidarity from the voice over front to other artists potentially impacted by AI. I'm just an amateur (for now) and I'm wary of AI; I can only imagine how the full-time pros feel about it. Actually, scratch that. I know how at least some of them feel: several prominent VAs have warned the community to check their contracts for clauses that grant the studio the right to use the commissioned audio files in perpetuity for whatever purposes they can finagle the files into, and without compensation to the VA, Those clauses have been seen already. Fuck every bit of that. Artists in every field should be keeping an eye on their contracts for those types of sneaky clauses. Artists have a hard enough time getting paid for their work without being conned into giving up their future rights to artificial intelligence. /end soap box

Well, Jay..... This was a great first episode. Samuel L. Jackson is fantastic as always as Nick Fury. Love the addition of Emilia Clarke as Talos' daughter G'iah. Always love seeing Don Cheadle back as Rhodey Rhodes. And I love Olivia Colman's character so far. 22:38 - 23:03 It's been a week since I first saw this episode, and I'm still in shock and denial over this. I'm still refusing to to believe that she's dead. Maria Hill is too much of a badass to go out that way. I'm hoping that it'll end up like it was with Coulson in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D", and 'Project T.A.H.I.T.I' was activated for Maria Hill. I'm about 90% positive she'll show up by the end of the series. And you guys, along with two other reactors that I watched, had the exact same reaction to that last scene. They know, you guys knowz and I know that YOU DO NOT KILL MARIA HILL!!! I didn't realize that that was the same wound in "Winter Soldier" until Adam pointed that out. Good call on that, Adam. It's trippy to see Samuel L. Jackson lead a project after being in the MCU for 15 years. I LOVED how super serious it is. For the record, unlike critics and "fans", I've enjoyed the different variety of content from the MCU post-Endgame. The death of Maria Hill??? Goddamn! For a recurring side character who didn't have a meaty role throughout, her death was the last thing I expected. Also, that A.I. opening credit sequence was creepy AF. When it comes to Emilia Clarke, I have a feeling that, knowing what happened to her mother, she switches sides before the show is over. Can't wait for y'all to react to the new episode.
