You are right. There was also a time when Marvel and DC characters would often team up on adventures. The companies had established that characters can travel between the Marvel and DC universes under certain conditions. There is a character named Access who has the ability to travel between the two universes and I believe he is owned by both DC and Marvel. Strangely enough, there is also an Earth (Earth 7462 according to Marvel) where DC and Marvel characters coexist. Sadly, it has been so long since any of those crossovers took place, that a lot of fans don't know and/or don't believe they ever took place. I think that the live action movies/shows only referencing the other companies characters as comic book characters is helping to wipe away the memory of the old crossovers. It's too bad the companies can't play nice again, because some of those crossovers were very good.

Oh goodness, I never thought they would change directors. She did establish the tone well. It’s more rotten tomatoes, rather then critics. Critics whose reviews were deemed “rotten” by rotten tomatoes actually had good things to say about the film and don’t know why their review was deemed rotten. The audience score was like 84% but no one talked about that. The only issues I see is the story was too big (Arishem’s exposition scene to Sersi was too long), and should have spread out over 2 movies and the chemistry issues with a couple of the leads. Other then that, the movie was incredibly good and explored complex themes.

While the rest could be wrong to betray their mission. In another point, they saved the world. Ajak was the first one who noticed something special about this planet. And she led everyone go live their lives, hoping they'll find out that this world is so worth saving. Where Makkari ran to find the Emergence, they put some oil platforms behind her. In the comics, Arishem and Tiamut are actually in conflict with each other. Due to one incident and Arishem convincing a few other Celestials to be on his side, they went against Tiamut and trapped him on Earth. In the comics, the Celestials serve another higher being called Fulcrum (rumored to be the One Above All - basically God himself). Also, the Celestial that died on Earth after being infected by the Horde (they're basically a swarm of locusts that serves Fulcrum directly) is the Progenitor, an Alpha Celestial, not Arishem. The Progenitor's body fluids was hypothesized by Loki to be the cause of the superhuman abnormalities in Earth's inhabitants. This movie most likely took its thematic inspiration from the Neil Gaiman's run of Eternals in 2006. Neil Gaiman is pretty well known for novels that involves cultures, gods and religions. American Gods, the show was based on the actual book itself written by Neil Gaiman. While it does cut out quite a few things from the book, it's still highly enjoyable and it has a very similar thematic feel to Eternals. The voice at the end was Blade, potentially setting up Kit Harrington's character to appear in Blade. With Moon Knight coming out soon, there is potential for these 3 characters to crossover with one another in their shows. If these shows do well, we might see a Midnight Sons adaptation which delves more into the supernatural aspects.

This was before an actual volcano took place in the Island of La Palma, which is located in that same group of islands, and it lasted almost three months, covering the time when the film was released on theatres. I loved the caretaker relationship not being portrayed as a tragedy. As someone who has been a caretaker, it was nice seeing how Gilgamesh is attentive to Thena’s waxing and waning symptoms of her illness.

I was really pleasantly surprised by all you guys' reaction! It was nice seeing you understand each Eternal's perspective whether they were for the Celestials' plan or against it. I totally agree, Ikaris was the antagonist but he had a good reason--to him, everyone else was the one betraying their mission--and add in his millennia-long relationship with the group and it's a really tragic dilemma. I thought this movie was incredibly beautiful with its epic scope and lofty concept and it's already one of my favorites in the mcu. I thought the pacing, flashbacks, and humor were fine, and I felt the chemistry between the whole group. It really felt like they were family. I guess I get some of the criticism since no movie is perfect, but in no way do I think this movie deserves the vitriol it got from some folks. It was an ambitious movie, esp for the mcu, and it was really well done. I also love how you guys caught on to a lot of things other reactors haven't seemed to, like the significance of Sersi offering the blade to the boy at the beginning and all the mythology connections and how the Eternals influenced tales passed down through the generations. I'm also really hoping to see that frozen Celestial pop up in future mcu films. That shot was sooo epic.

Throughout the ages you get to see how they made a difference in humanity growth by doing or not doing. I grade this movie 10/10 an A+. One its something new and never done before in the mcu. It is in my top five.

I really loved this movie, I think it was very fantasy epic in its themes/tone which is so different for the MCU. I hope they don't change the sequel due to the negativity, I would hate for Zhao's vision to be interrupted! Just to clarify one thing with Starfox, Thanos, and their heritage. Starfox and Thanos both were born on Titan, they're still Titans, however, Thanos is an Eternal who was born with the Deviant gene, hence why he doesn't look human-like his brother does. They're not really retconning anything, just enhancing what we already knew! Also shout out to Harry Styles being in the MCU now, i love his music, saw him in concert!

Timing in art is everything. This film hit theaters during the 45th anniversary of The Eternals' debut in Marvel comics. Didn't know that Jack Kirby was the sole creator of these characters. For a story of god-like beings who walked the Earth since Mankind's early civilizations, it's an incredible journey. I saw Chloe Zhao's Nomadland and it was very good. Marvel Studios made the right choice in her as director of this. I missed watching the IMAX showings of this film. But it is one of the most beautifully filmed movies of the MCU. The end credits scenes paint such a incredible picture of what the future will bring.

This was definitely one of my favorite MCU movies, still it left me with some questions about the Eternals nature and how would it work. I want to point out also that I think Kingo going away and not taking part in the last fight was a good decision, because it shows they can have different opinions between them, while the others were on this or that side he took his own side and said "I agree with Icaris but I won't fight my own family for this".

In comics, Thanos was spawned by the Eternals. The parents of Thanos were the Eternals Sui-San and A'Lars, and their actions play direct roles in their son's transformation into one of the deadliest threats in the entire universe. and ERos is his biological brother, he opposes his mad brother Thanos, much like the rest of the universe. He has the power to psychically control other people's emotions. He was a member of the Avengers and Dark Guardians in the comics.

1:00:55 Actually this movie takes place *before* Hawkeye and before Spider-Man : NWH, according to the official timeline. Hawkeye and Spider-Man : NWH both take place around Christmas 2024 (this is confirmed), and in Eternals they say it's been 5 years since Thanos wiped out half the population, which means Eternals is taking place in 2023. This is backed up by the fact that the news blames the earthquake on the Blip, which suggests that the events of Endgame are recent.

I'm excited for this new Marvel phase and how they are bringing up these stories, while integrating what we have already in the MCU for Earth 616. PS: Just a little FYI: Most of the Amazon is in Brazil, but some parts of it is in other South American countries, which most of them speak Spanish, as it is spoken in the movie at 31:26. In Brazil, the official language isn't Brazilian, it's Portuguese. Not what they are speaking.

First, just to clear it up I believe Sersi turned it into Stone (Marble?) because the news reporter at the end said "A giant stone figure in the ocean" But....This is my number one MCU film, reading comics as a little girl I was always attracted to the epic and grand scale of story telling and this film really captured that essence for me and reminded me why I love comics. I recognize it is not a perfect film by most standards but that is what is great about it for me is that it breaks the norm/standards and really gave the MCU a breath of fresh air. The on location sets (the visuals this film provided are unmatched in the MCU) are really going to make it hard for me to watch MCU films going forward if they use so much CGI to provide locations and environments.

  • @LadyScaper

    @LadyScaper

    6 ай бұрын

They really code poor Druig to be the villain. Even in the establishing group shot in the beginning. He’s the last one to be revealed and he wears all black. 😂😂😂 Definitely the black sheep of the family and therefore most likely to do a heel turn according to the film tropes we are used to. The film does not get enough credit for misdirecting us. I was sure Druig was going to be the villain. Then his crush on Makkari (where he turned into a squishmellow of sunshine and rainbows) changed my whole opinion of him. He just cared too much and asked the right questions. I think the movie gets hate as it drifted much further from the marvel movie formula. We were set up for certain expectations and then while they were averted, some people don’t like that. Also, I think some people felt threatened by the “diversity”. Aka, what the human population actually looks like. The diversity is the most realistic thing when the group is globe trotting and history spanning. Statistically, the gender distribution alone usually has to be corrected for when a story is based on comics, as comics for a long time were aimed at men. The real world does not look like the comic book world. Chole Zhao wanted to ground the story, in the real world so people could accept the more fantastical elements. 10 white guys (7 white guys and 3 girls) as the Eternals would be absolutely nonsensical.

In the comics each Celestial is defined by a name followed by a function like Eson The Searcher or Gammenon the Gatherer. Arishem's full name is Arishem The Judge. So the way they ended the movie dovetails with his position in the comics. The Celestials basically go from planet to planet seeding life. Sometime much much later Arishem comes back and does an assessment of that planet's progress. If Arishem doesn't like what he sees, he literally gives a thumbs down on the planet. Jack Kirby drew Arishem's thumb with a big glowing mathematical equation on it. Once the judgement occurred, the Celestial Exitar the Executioner (who is ten or more times bigger than other Celestials) arrives to wipe out the entire biosphere and they start over. So it will be interesting to see where that judgement storyline goes in the next movie.

So I think Icarus’s actions were somewhat justified. He loved Sersi and Ajac wouldn’t allow him to tell the rest about their ultimate goal so when they all split apart and he and Sersi broke up he had to spend what, 🤔, 2,000 years away from his love keeping a devastating secret and then 7 days before the job is complete and his separation from Sersi is over Ajac CHANGES HER MIND. Honestly his mental break from that fact is understandable. He kept the secret and then suddenly it was all for nothing. If they suddenly stopped the emergence it would’ve been like a slap to the face for all he’s sacrificed. This was a great movie! 🤩

My guess to why the earth wasn't completely screwed over when Tiamut started coming out of the core, is that he has been slowly moving for a looooooooong time. Like there is a chance he has been moving a tiny bit since the first sentient life came to be. But I could be wrong, or they'll use that argument in upcoming movies.

This movie had a HUGE job and soooo much information to give to an audience and I think it did it very well. I think it would process a lot of it better as a series, but when it has to be a movie? Did a great job. Given how much info that is in in it, I think that information is more vital to the overall marvel timeline/future than some of the other things that suffered as a result. The visuals were AMAZING and considering how much of that work was started/based on practical film work? It's an achievement. Most of my issues I'm blaming on some of the editing and chosen focuses in the film.
