"He could jerk whether it was raining, snowing; it was on a hill; it was Tuesday and the light was in his eyes; his mom was mad at him; he didn't have his favorite breakfast--he could jerk all the time." Basically just described my entire adolescence. 😆

That's what I've been trying to tell people for years is that even though you don't have to stretch as long as you exercise but its half of the workout when it comes to better results and way less injuries. A strong core is also very important to have to reduce injury especially low back pain! I became a personal trainer to help show people it's easier to make pain go away and prevent injuries than it seems to be with stretching and prehab exercises, as I gained valuable knowledge through my own experience of having to rehabilitate a few injuries.

Hi Oberst, For novice lifters not training in strongman would you still recommend 5x3 75-80% for strict pressing? and also what would you add to that , e.g front raise, lat raise and how many times a week would you suggest doing shoulders? Would you do them twice a week one session focusing on going heavy and another focusing on reps? Good luck for Jan ! Hopefully you smash the WR

There is a Russian saying: "To press a lot, you must press a lot." In other words, if you want to press some heavy poundage, you have to do a lot of pressing. That's what I'm planning my training around. Various overhead presses, including jerks and snatches. Anything to build my shoulders and upper body strength.

jerk is better as a lightweight strongman. Rob kearney is smaller so he can move and stabilize better than the big guys. Guys like big Z shaw or oberst would not, they’d lose their footing or control. Basic physics, using your whole body as a unit is more efficient than select muscle groups.

A lot of great information yet does this work only for enhanced lifters who recover much better and faster oppose-to naturals? What works well for an enhanced person will not work so well for a natural is s fact so take it with caution.

Never take advice from and steroid lifter. Steroids change literally everything. I've been around long enough to see the whole game. Dude's on Juice can lift ANY WAY they want, and it makes them big and strong. It's just the juice doing the work. If you lift naturally you'll become over trained, the weights will be too high or you won't get enough work because you'll be too busy recovering from their insane workouts. If you're natural and you want to be strong you need to basically do a really heavy day once every 3 weeks or so. If you do it sooner than that you'll ultimately have a physical break down in some area like getting injured or lose strength from your inability to recover. All the other days you workout need to be 70% type work where you do a bunch of reps and sets and put in the work. If you do too high of a % like a juicer, you'll never recover in time.

Gigantic amount of volume will be your downfall if you're a natural. Work hard, intense, yes, but by the time youve done so much volume that you have to take full plates off, you've already overtrained. Enhanced you can do whatever floats your boat, you'll recover more easy from anything

  • @vinnyvtec8722

Steroids basically just speed up your muscle repair which in turn speeds up growth. In my opinion (like others have stated) as a natty you need more rest so your muscles can repair otherwise you'll constantly be getting injuries. Thats why i dont believe a natty and enhanced should have the same routine.
